Two pranksters meet each other. The question is whether or not they can get along. A silly book with a sneaky ending. Whether or not you like this book might come down to whether or not you think pranking is your style of humor. Of course with reading this to children there may also be the discussion of what kind of pranks will be acceptable in a household. Perfect for an April Fools Day theme.
Hank Meets Frank is both hilarious and beautifully done. Any little pranksters reading this will be delighted with Maudie Powell-Tuck's impish troublemaking characters. Duncan Beedie brings the book to life with expressive illustrations that perfectly convey the mischievousness of the characters. The ending was especially great. I’ll be recommending this book to patrons and using it myself for Storytimes!
I really enjoyed this book! There are a few meaningful lessons woven into the story that are so important for children.
1) Learning a big word (objectionable). This is beautifully explained and illustrated in the book
2) Rivalry and friendship, and I especially loved that the other character is a cousin. Children tend to be in the company of siblings and cousins and of course, the dynamic of love / hate is always at play
3) The value of forgiveness
Overall, I loved this book. I thought it was adorable, and I highly recommend it!
Thank you NetGalley for the arc!
The illustrations are so cute and so well done. I love that the story has a bigger vocabulary word and the meaning but done in such a fun way and educational way.
I love how we see Frank and Hank really just being similar. We see Hank being known as objectionable and Hank coming in as a sweet visitor. We can follow their journey of them pranking each other and eventually realizing how similar they are. And continuing to prank with each other instead.
Will definitely be getting this for my niece and nephew.
This was such a silly book! My 5 year old loved it. Would recommend for a fun read aloud in a primary classroom or library storytime..

Hank Meets Frank is a fun, laugh out loud read aloud book for sharing with a friend. Hank isn't everybody's favorite bird, so when his cousin Frank visits, everyone wants him to be extra nice. But Frank isn't what everyone else expects either. Kids will laugh out loud as the two birds get into lots of hilarious hijinks.

This is such a cute and funny little picture book about Frank and Hank, who really are friends but end up trying to outprank each other. Their antics are silly but the funniest thing to me is that I know people who act like this, and they're great friends too.
Hank and Frank are adorable little menaces and I. Love. Them. For. It.
Hank is ornery. Frank is not. Hank and Frank are cousins and therefore natural enemies. Cue the pranks.
I would gander (yes, I have goose jokes) that I am not the intended audience for this particular book, but based on how much I enjoyed it, I might as well have been! The illustrations are so stinkin’ cute and the story is easy to follow. I would read this to my child. Heck, I’d read this to my husband. Honestly, I just want everyone I know to see a fluffed-up, staticky Frank. The world deserves that joy.
Thank you to NetGalley and Publisher Spotlight | Tiger Tales for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion, and thank you to Maudie Powell-Tuck and Duncan Beedie for bringing this book into existence!
What a cute and silly book about two little rascals learning to get along. Now, do they learn to also stop before no naughty little pranksters? Not in this book, but where’s the fun in that.
Everybody has a habit of blaming Hank for being rude, often rightly so as we learn in the first book - Hank is working on it. But when cute, innocent little Frank comes to visit and pranks begin happening left and right, everyone assumes it’s Hank.
Follow along through pages full of laugh out loud pranks as these two rascals try to one-up each other then learn to get along. This story is sure to be a riot, especially if you have a silly rascal of your own to read with.
Thanks NetGalley and Tiger Tales for the ARC of this book.
Hank Meets Fank is a humorously written and adorably illustrated children's book about two birds, Hank, and his sweet cousin Frank. But when their shenanigans become problematic, will they end up letting bygones be bygones?
This book will be a great read if you're someone who likes to "do voices" and be animated when reading to children. One thing I loved about this book is that the author used the word "objectionable" and then explained the meaning in a child-friendly way. That being said, I'd recommend this for children 3.5/4 years and up to early elementary ages. My 4-year-old preschoolers would love it, and I will definitely look for it once it's published.
Thank you, Publisher Spotlight, for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Hank Meets Frank (Kindle Edition)
by Maudie Powell-Tuck
a cute story about two very different birds that show that impressions are not always right the first time. It also shows that even if you are fighting with someone you can not find things in common. This is a silly book good for social emotional learning in lower grades.
This is a cute story that will be great for little kids (Pre-K, K) the illustrations and text are both bright and very easy to read. I love the dynamic between the main characters. A fun, simple and relatable story for little ones.
A funny tale about teaching children how to handle big emotions and learning to give others second chances. When grumpy Hank meets mischievous Frank, the two quickly enter into a prank war until they ultimately agree to be friends and turn the tables on the unseen narrator in a hilarious surprise ending. Highly recommended for fans of authors like Bruce Hale and Mo Willems with a similar art style as that of Jon Klassen. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
This is such a fun and engaging children’s book! The colorful illustrations and unique stylization are eye-catching, and I loved the witty details sprinkled in for the adults reading along.
The length is just right for keeping kids’ attention — both of my nephews enjoyed it so much we ended up reading it twice. I also thought it was really smart to include word definitions for young readers, which makes it both entertaining and educational.
The whoopee cushion scene had everyone laughing, and the added details on the back page were such a clever attention grabber. Overall, this book is a joy to read together and one I’d definitely recommend.

Hank has met his match with Frank, a prank-loving bird who gets his feelings bruised just as easily as Hank. Readers will relate to both bird and goose who expereince grouchy feelings, and have to get payback. I know my boys would see themselves in these moody responses. This is such a funny and cute story with great illustrations. I highly recommend this for storytimes in schools and libraries.

Thank you NetGalley, Tiger Tales, and Maudie Powell-Tuck for the early access of Hank Meets Frank.
Hank Meets Frank is a hilarious story of a goose named Hank, who while in his other story Hank Goes Honk tries to better his behaviours to help build friendships, is misunderstood in Hank Meets Frank. Everyone thinks his cousin Frank is cute and innocent, while Hank knows his cousin is causing some issues, such as pranking Hank. With a fun story about rivalry, Hank Meets Frank is a silly story to enjoy with littles.

Hank meets Frank is an absolutely delightful and funny story for all audiences! The Beedie’s illustrations make the story come to life and ensured many giggles erupted during the course of reading the story. When reading the book to a mixed audience ranging from preschool to sixth grade, all children were entertained and invested in the antics of Hank and Frank. The older kids noted the valuable lesson that while some have the reputation of being “objectionable,” the label is never always true! The concept that we all have a bit of “cutie-pie” Frank and a bit of “objectionable” Frank within us allows us to be more forgiving of all! Maudie Powell-Tuck has crafted a wonderfully entertaining story that reminds all readers to be a little less judgmental (but never less silly!). Thanks to NetGalley and Publisher Spotlight for the chance to read an advanced copy of Hank Meets Frank!
