I received a copy of this book from Red Adept Publishing, LLC via NG in return for an honest review.

I really liked this book! Norse mythology and suspense enthusiasts, you'll get a real kick out of this book!

let's dive into the plot!

How did I go from a simple girl who works as a baker to being hunted all in a matter of days?
Solina Mundy is as normal as they get. She wakes up, bakes, craves for parent approval and loves her twin brother Mani with all her heart. He's always been there for her.
He's always protected her.
He's always loved her. Until the day Solina has a portentous dream of wolves and death,
She is then notified that Mani has died of a horrendously at the claws of animals.
determined to uncover what happened, Solina goes on a trip to Alaska.
There she meets two men who may have all the answers she craves- Aleksander Thorin and Val Wotan. The more Solina uncovers, the more trouble nip at her heels until the moment she has become the number one target. A wolf seeks to devour her life essence. All the sudden, her life is irrevocably changed to the dawn of Norse Gods and goddesses, Valkyries, grief, bitterness, murders, love and...Powers. Solina's life was never as it seemed.

This book was really cool.

honestly, i really enjoyed that! It had a part of norse mythology that i didn't know about so imagine my utter excitement when i researched and saw that this author was spot on in her concepts and mythology! Way to go Laurel, I can see you did extensive research in this area and it paid off brilliantly!

The writing was brilliant too, it's what made the entirety of the experience in this book so wonderful. The writing just sucked you into the story, it engaged you and you felt invested too.

Okay, the characters- I really liked them!

Solina-

"Solina either has her hands stuffed in a batch of dough or her nose stuck in a book,

Solina is a great character! I doesn't hurt that she sounds like she could be my twin from her sarcasm to her hobbies! She definitely has depth and guts, she knows what she has to do and even though she's scared she won't let that stop her from reaching her goal. She is loyal to a fault and she is determined and won't take anyone's crap.

Most of all though, I loved her sarcasm and wit:-

"Birds are portentous of many things," Kalani answered.
"Death," Inyoni said.
"The arrival of a deity," Kalani said.
"(or) the sighting of a tasty horde of gnats," (solina) said.

I kept seeing Rapunzel and Flin Ryder when they were like:
"Something brought you here, call it what you will, fate. destiny."
"A horse."

She's a funny character!

the rest of the characters also had depth and many layers! I'm really looking forward to knowing more about them in the next installment.

Okay now Romance.

I would say that there actually isn't much of one. Like no swoon, oh my goodness romance...not yet at least, but it's coming up for sure! this book was the character getting to know the guys which i respect immensely, there was no insta-love in here.

We have two guys Val Wotan and Aleksander Thorin.

I will admit partiality to Thorin...it's not my fault, the viking looking kind of guy (romanticized-version of course) is just darn attractive!

so there is the potential for a romance but not one exactly.

I also wouldn't totally call this a love triangle, it is in a way and it isn't- i know that makes no sense but you'll have to read it to understand.

other than that, that ending! yowzzaaa! must.have.the.next.book!

Taking her first trip out of North Carolina, Solina Mundy flies to Alaska to tie up her twin brother’s affairs after his brutal murder. Feeling apprehensive after having a vision of Mani’s death, she doesn’t know what she’ll find while she’s there, but Val, her brother’s friend and co-worker, is there to help her. Once arriving, she meets Thorin and Skyla, Mani’s boss and the woman Mani loved. It doesn’t take long for her to realize something deeper is going on than just his murder, and everyone seems to know what it is. Solina decides to break out of her shell and investigate his murder herself. She soon finds herself targeted by Mani’s killer, and an attraction she doesn’t know what to do with. Will she survive Alaska to find love or is what’s going on more than she can handle?

I wasn’t sure I wanted to try this book or not. By the end of the 2nd chapter, I was so very glad I did. The pacing is fast without losing the reader, details are weaved into the story without bogging it down or making it slow, there’s romance but it doesn’t take over the story, and I am more than intrigued to find out what happens in the next book. The only slight problem came with the characters themselves. Solina started out as a naïve, retiring, and meek woman and rapidly became a snarky, not-to-be-pushed around woman. Val was both caring and chauvinistic, while Thorin was so reserved, he seemed a little two-dimensional. Skyla was the one that seemed more real than the other characters. However, don’t let that turn you away from this book. I see great potential for this series because in spite of those flaws, I did like the characters and I was very entertained. Give this book a try, you won’t be disappointed!

While there she discovers strange behavior by his coworkers and some of the townspeople. Her vivid nightmares only add more questions. She finds herself getting an education in Norse mythology and possibly being a reincarnated Goddess. Wow. Fantastic read. Absolutely loved it. Solina was a great character. I loved all the characters apart from Helen. Did not like her. I loved the plot too. I hope there is another one coming as i would like to know what happens next. Could not put this down. I would highly recommend this book.
