Description

Rylee Thompson swore she left town for bigger and better things, but when she’s forced to move back, it’s clear she was trying to outrun her past. Now her only escape is throwing herself into DIY projects and trying to grow her online audience.

Clayton Daniels needs his construction business to be a success, but finding the right help is easier said than done. It isn’t until he runs into his childhood best friend that he knows Rylee would be perfect for the job.

There’s only one problem. She’s too wounded from their past to entertain the possibility of a future.

He’d do anything just to be around her again, and she’ll do anything to hold onto her anger. But even Rylee can’t resist the undeniable pull between them.

Advance Praise

"I enjoyed this book and the connection I felt with the characters. Rylee and her issues letting her walls down to trust. And Clay with his anxiety and all his trauma from his past. I loved how Clay wasn't about to give up just because Rylee wasn't letting him in." - Goodreads Review

"I received an ARC of Running Risk, the second book I’ve read by Dawn Anderson, and I was hooked from the start. It’s such an easy read that completely pulls you in. The flashbacks were my favorite part, they made me love the characters even more by showing their history." - Goodreads Review

"This is now the second ARC I've read of Dawn Anderson and it was just as good as the first. Super cute quick read. Definitely recommend!" - Goodreads review

a gorgeous read.i truly connected with the story and the characters and was so invested in them. i like it when a book just pulls me in and i know i will care about it and the characters within. i got that almost on instant as i read the first pages. takes a very special talent to do that. i dont know how these authors do it, i really dont.
there was history for our pair of main characters. and there was clearly present too! but could they both be ok with either to find togetherness again?
Rylee and Clayton had me all in with them from the start. they weren't overly this or that. they were human with some really great characteristics. its ok for people to seem believable but also kind of awesome. sometimes we just need to read more of this in today's world. to hand over over cynic-minds for a while to believe in good people and good relationships.
the supportive nature to this book and these pair was lovely. sticking it out, sticking with it. stick by was something so good to see.
writing men with actual issue surrounding mental health was brilliant. i hate i have to put this. but here we are in today's world. but also in not making it over what a woman might struggle or over or the other. it just was, he's human with some hard things to deal with.
the friendship between the two characters was so rich and you could just feel it. they had to get through some stuff, sure. but it all happened naturally and with time, effort, and grace.
the book made me smile, feel cosy, feel comforted.
running the risk has no risks in my eyes. its full of love. loved it.
one of my best books of the year. give me more Dawn Anderson any day.
