Lost in His Eyes

A spine chilling book which really sets the reader to thinking. Sometimes what we know and have is better than that which we don't! Shocks, surprises, twists and turns. Loved it.

This tale of a desperate housewife has some interesting twists. Recommended for library collections with strong romantic suspense demand.

A story of marital infidelity told through the eyes of the wife. Clea Howard is married to a man that is more and more successful in his career as an Insurance company manager. They have a teen age daughter that is in the l6 going on 30 stage. A beautiful home, friends and possessions with time for Clea to enjoy everything since there is no need for her to work to help maintain their lifestyle. With all that she has Clea comes to the conclusion that she is unhappy with her marriage, and her role in the life that she has chosen. At the seemingly right time she meets a man in the supermarket and begins an affair with him.
The man indicates that his name is Lancaster, he is independently wealthy, travels quite a lot and is very intelligent. Clea learns that somehow her lover knows everything there is to know about her and seems to anticipate her wishes. How is this possible since the meeting is by chance, but at the right time to allow Clea to think of other things beyond her seemingly failed marriage.
Lancaster anticipates Clea's desires, and always is available for her when she wants him to be. What does he want? Where does he want to go with this relationship with the same question posed for Clea. A fast read, one that is not overly complicated leading to an ending which is not telegraphed, but is correct for the characters described. Well done.

In the beginning, this seems like just another story of a bored housewife looking for some excitement, but soon, the reader figures out that it is much more than that. The main character is about to get herself into a situation with more than just a few consequences--and she's going to take you along for the ride.

This book is well written, balanced with enough mystery and action to keep you turning pages at a rapid clip, and doesn't turn out exactly as one would expect it to. I was impressed with how the story developed and the unexpected twists along the way.

Obviously this author has had an interesting and varied career, and that is really highlighted in his writing here. The characters are well rounded and have a lot of depth, and the story itself has a certain life and quality that it is often hard to find in modern literature.

I enjoyed it, and I think you will too.

I'm surprised that the author is a man, because he seems to be able to decipher and understand so well women's feelings about marriage, motherhood, and life in general. He does an excellent job of conveying this with many a poetic turn of phrase that I found enjoyable.

I thought Clea was an interesting character and though I couldn't personally relate to her, I know people like her and I can understand how she might have reached the condition she was in.

I had suspicions of what the ending of the book would bring but the author did a great job of keeping things just uncertain enough that I was unsure of the outcome until it came and I found myself nodding in agreement. There were some red herrings thrown in that for awhile led me to wonder if the book would go a different direction. I don't want to give anything away; the pleasure of this book is in the discovery.
