Description
Sahalie is the last of her lineage, bearing supernatural abilities gifted by the Spirits. She knows that in order to unlock her full potential she needs to find her mate. Yet in order to protect herself Sahalie knows she cannot reveal her secret abilities nor share her lineage with anyone but her true mate. She feels an instant and an undeniable connection with Yuma. Her Spirit Animal, a sassy little red fox is also drawn to the man’s Spirit Animal, a powerful tiger.
The problem?
Yuma is the son of an Elder. An Elder’s son means Yuma is neck-deep in community politics and drama. And she wants none of that. While Sahalie tries to deny their connection, the pull of true mates is evident and soon they find themselves unable to stay apart.
“What is it about you Sahalie?” I voice the question that’s haunted me since I first locked gazes with her.
Yuma has a very difficult decision to make… Will he follow his heart and Spirit Animal’s wishes and claim Sahalie as his true mate or will he uphold his duty to the communities and follow through with an arranged mating?
Yuma’s life-altering decision will affect everyone… not just him and Sahalie but the future of all their communities

In Plain Sight, Senayda Pierre Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Genre: Romance,
Well, Senayda has written lots of novels and I’ve never read any. Still, this book really drew me in somehow so I asked to review it. Its a wonderful story, reminded me so much of the old Native American stories that I love. all about Nature, listening to her and respecting her. Everything has meaning, the humans and spirit animals are very entwined and the spirits need respect. Sadly though times move and with it so does that respect lessen a bit. Of course there’s also man’s interference, and as with the Bible the legends and tales become interpreted by Man, and who knows if their view is what was intended. Yuma and Sahalie are victims of that, of the elders interference, even though its done for the right motives it results in a disaster for them. Still, every cloud has a silver lining and all that, and it did make me wonder if things had been different would the good Sahalie was able to do, her full potential to help, have come out or been hidden as it had for so long? Its a beautiful read, full of fabulous characters, personalities that we see in all communities, from outgoing and friendly to jealous and judgmental. Sahalie is a great lead, very respectful of her beloved grandfather, and I love the way his fox stays with her even after he’s passed. It comforts her and reminds her to adhere to his advice. Yuma – the consummate playboy in a way and yet he’s honest with the ladies, he’s promised to someone already, through his father, the head Elder in the community. Its his duty, his father has arranged this many years back, and its to help the dwindling lineages he's told. They all know how weak they are becoming in lineage and abilities, and as a dutiful son he needs to go with what’s been arranged. All that is fine until he meets Sahalie. There’s something about her he just can’t let go of and soon they’re both in love, though neither will say the words. She doesn’t know about his arranged marriage/bonding, she’s been away studying to help the community for the last six years, so she is happy when Yuma talks about their future together and the children they will have. She’s in for a shock though when she finds out – and what a terrible way to discover the truth!! My heart was broken for her, she was so distraught. I really, really wanted things to work for her, she was so in love with Yuma, their spirit animals were so good together, ands when they were joined their abilities seemed so enhanced, as if Nature was giving them her blessing. Yuma though – in a way I hated him, he was so arrogant to begin, but he wore me down along with Sahalie. Would he stand up for Sahalie, and them as a pair though, and go against his father? There was a way out, but would his dad accept it and what would Yuma do if he didn’t? I know he was prepared to sacrifice his own happiness, but it was hers too – and he just seemed to go along as if somehow it would all work out and he could do his duty and still have Sahalie.....I guess its harder in our Western world of independence to understand the Eastern way of duty and respect to parents and elders, and though this is fantasy its very real in that outlook. When viewed at that way I did feel a bit more sorry for Yuma and understand a bit his reluctance to go against what was arranged by Elders. Its a romance, but so much more. a real Story, with some wonderful ideas and descriptions and it felt so real that I had tears in parts. That’s just what I love, a novel that moves me that much. It all ends well too and I need that. A great read, full of questions, danger, past, present, angst love, premonitions and revelations. I really enjoyed it and it’ll join my keepers file. Stars: a well deserved Five.

I went in blind with this one because it was the first time I’ve ever from this author. First of all I want to say that I loved the writing style and the way the story carried on from beginning to end. They are some part that I was just plain frustrated. Yuma, Yuma, Yuma, like really I liked you but damn your duty. Duty isn’t everything. he should told his family to F off seriously. Yuma would have just been with Sahalie he could have avoided a lot of drama and problems.their is some steamy scenes and I mean H.O.T. hot! Enough tirade other then that I like the book a lot. I say pretty good for my first read from this author.

Let me start by saying that I wasn't really looking forward to reading this book, but I am SO glad it did by the end! It is written with so much emotion, that it made me cry. I don't want to give anything away, but let me just say that my heart broke for Sahalie and eventually for Yuma as well. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is different from anything I've read before, and because of that, I really enjoyed it.

This is my first book by Senayda Pierre and I was NOT disappointed.
I love a good paranormal book that contains all the elements of magic and make-believe. This book brought me to that world.
Sahalie is the last of her lineage and she is harboring a secret. Her grandfather has instilled in her to keep this secret until she found her one true mate; her soul mate. Sahalie has gone away to college to try to find a way to help her people. This is a rarity because most people stay within their community. her grandfather passes away while she is finishing up her Masters degree, bringing Sahalie home sooner.
When she gets back home she feels an instant pull to Yuma, one of the Elder's son. He is also being groomed to become an Elder. Yuma will soon have to make a hard decision, one direction is to follow his heart, the other direction is for the betterment of their community, or so he's told.
Which direction will Yuma take? And what is the consequence of that action? And how does Sahalie factor into all this? Go one-click to find out. You will not be disappointed.

I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I agreed to review this new release for Senayda Pierre. I am familiar with a previous release of hers Willfully Compelled and I enjoyed that book a lot. The idea of Spirit Animals struck me as a unique idea and was definitely interested to see where the author would go with it.
What a roller coaster this book was!
Within the first few pages it is more than obvious that the author did a great deal of research. I was intrigued with the idea of Silver Fox and Sky Woman. As the book unfolded I have to be honest and admit that I assumed this book would be a cut and dry - hero[ine] finds mate and are revealed to be Silver Fox and Sky Woman reborn. WRONG!
Sahalie has been hiding her true heritage among her people her entire life. [Sidenote: the author makes it plain that these people that live in within this community are NOT human. They are more in tune with the elements Earth, Wind, Air and Fire and are paired with an actual animal that is their Spirit Animal] Unlike the majority of her community, she has the ability to possess two Spirit Animals and has to conceal this or else her life would no longer be her own. As a result of bad pairings in the past their race has become severely diluted and a lot of the prominent bloodlines that once existed have now disappeared. It is Sahalie's wish to temporarily leave the community to go to college so that she can study genetics and figure out what her community's issue is. Unfortunately, while pursuing her education a member of her family passes away and she returns home.
Sahalie returns home and that is where she meets Yuma. It is obvious to me that Yuma and Sahalie are true mates and I am ecstatic. I assumed that the rest of the book is Yuma's pursuit of Sahalie and then their final come together. Yes they are true mates and yes Sahalie leads Yuma on a merry chase, but Sahalie's initial path is not with Yuma. And this was so hard for me to accept because of the way that it is delivered. Yuma has community responsibilities seeing as how he is being groomed to be a future Elder. He is meant to have a political marriage that will tie their particular community with an equally successful community. What is messed up is that Sahalie is never told this. She goes through the motions of discovering and falling in love with and never being told, by Yuma might I add, that they can't be together. It was absolutely horrible to have in the back of my mind that this beautiful pairing of Yuma and Sahalie can't last. I stayed positive and assumed at the end of the day that Yuma would go against tradition and his father and make the right choice i..e. Sahalie.
The journey for Sahalie to become who the Spirits mean for her to be does not completely include Yuma and I found that to be refreshing. She has a destiny and a purpose - to help her people and the way to do so takes her away from her comfort zone and the community she has grown up with.
I absolutely loved this book. I loved the characters, no matter how flawed and spineless I initially found some of them to be. The author took great pains to impart upon the reader all of the emotions that these characters are feeling at any point in time and I felt them. They were amazing. Each scene leading up to that horrible moment was so bittersweet, but I loved how it paved the way for Sahalie to accept and fulfill her destiny (for lack of a better word). I absolutely loved every character in this book and appreciated each one. I want a Spirit Animal!
I will most definitely read this book again and would love it if the author were to revisit these characters.
