Description

FROM THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF FIRST LIE WINS

Two women. One dead husband. And only one alibi.
“Elston expertly unravels a web of secrets and lies. You won’t be able to put this excellent thriller down until the final shocking page.” —Megan Miranda

Everyone at Chantilly’s Bar noticed out-of-towner Camille Bayliss. Red lips, designer heels, sipping a Negroni. But that woman wasn’t Camille Bayliss. It was Aubrey Price.

Camille Bayliss appears to have the picture-perfect life; she’s married to hotshot lawyer Ben and is the daughter of a wealthy Louisiana family. Only nothing is as it seems: Camille believes Ben has been hiding dirty secrets for years, but she can’t find proof because he tracks her every move.

Aubrey Price has been haunted by the terrible night that changed her life a decade ago, and she’s convinced Benjamin Bayliss knows something about it. Living in a house full of criminals, Aubrey understands there’s more than one way to get to the truth—and she may have found the best way in.

Aubrey and Camille hatch a plan. It sounds simple: For twelve hours, Aubrey will take Camille’s place. Camille will spy on Ben, and the two women will get the answers they desperately seek.

Except the next morning, Ben is found murdered. Both women need an airtight alibi, but only one of them has it. And one false step is all it takes for everything to come undone.

You will not be able to stop once you start reading Anatomy of an Alibi. Two strangers change places to create an alibi – but an alibi for what? The twists and turns are non-stop, and the characters will have you trying to decide who to love and who to hate (and you will probably change your mind several times). I can’t believe how well Elston was able to get all the puzzle pieces of this amazing thriller to fit together for a perfect ending.

Anatomy of an Alibi is the second book by Ashley Elston that I have read. First Lie Wins was one of my top thrillers that I have read in recent months, and I was looking forward to seeing where this book took her career. Anatomy of an Alibi holds its own with enough twists and turns to keep you on your toes. I did not know who to suspect until right up to the reveal, and that is what I want to see in a thriller. Each of the characters that had their own moments of narration was enjoyable, and the time changes weren't as hard to follow as I thought they might be. Camille and Audrey's story twisted together in a way that the conclusion was satisfactory and enjoyable.

I would like to thank Ashley Elston, NetGalley, Viking Penguin, and Pamela Dorman Books for allowing me to have access to this Digital ARC.

I love a thriller that, at first glance, seems straightforward... and quickly turns out to be anything but. Anatomy of an Alibi introduces a complex set of characters with hidden motivations, complicated backstories, and a whole lot to lose. A perfect read for a gray, autumn day.

Two women: Camille who is living the high life from a wealthy family and Aubrey who works as a bartender. Who is telling the truth? An unhappy marriage, skeletons in the closet and a husband’s murder make this a tale worth reading!

Wow, this was so good! I loved Elston's first novel, and she brought it again with her second! Camille wants out of her marriage, and she thinks she has figured out a way, with the help of Audrey. Aubrey pretends to be Camille and goes around town spending money, stopping in bars, and in general being seen, but Aubrey doesn't know what Camille is doing while she is pretending to be her. Then, Camille husband is found murdered and the race is on to figure out who did it. This is so twisted, suspenseful and just really good! I could not put this down. I will be anxiously awaiting Elston's next novel.
