I like this book because it's not too long, it's fast, and it's easy to read. It still has good characters, action, and even some insight into a type of regime that the US is steering towards.

From the moment I read the premise, Neil Kyd accused of assassinating a Russian presidential candidate and hunted by Russian special forces, all while desperate to save his daughter, I was sold. I received a copy from Vine Leaves Press via Netgalley.

This thriller by Marc Rosenberg is a fast-paced spy thriller that pulls you in from the very first chapter. Neil Kyd is hunted by Russian special forces across Europe. His real mission is far more personal, to rescue his daughter. This blend of murderous espionage with a personal core gives this thriller a strong pulse.

The writing is spot-on and cinematic. It makes the chase easy to visualize across Europe’s cities and back alleys. It’s a compelling page-turner.

To call this an action thriller is a major understatement! There is even action between the action scenes as the government bribes our hero to carry out a task only he can accomplish.. With his daughter’s life at risk, he’ll stop at nothing.

4.5 ⭐️

Well.. this was a wild ride!!! 🙃 A story of a desperate father who is ready to do anything to protect and help her daughter and a Major who is in charge of arresting him!!!

This was well-written and fast-paced!!! I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did!!! The plot was very intense!!! From the very beginning, it gripped me completely and kept me on the edge of my seat!!! Things were only getting wilder and wilder, one after another!!! And honestly, that was the best part of the book!!! All the twists and turns and actions made the book a wild ride, I said before!!! You can see where the story is going yet you can’t guess what is going to happen next!!! 🫨 Something is coming to hit you again just when you think you are getting a break!!! 🙃

I won’t say that the plot was perfect though!!! Several scenes were quite far-fetched!!! The biggest of all — Ryn being able to do all those things without eating and drinking!!! Also, that part where he hid in a lake was unbelievable!!! Also, even after going in the water, the money didn’t get wet 😃 Ryd getting away from police again and again and again felt like he was in a movie of something which made me realise that this book might make a good movie 👍🏼 Well, despite all these, this was such a great book!! One would not get bored while reading it!!

Ryd was likeable enough!! I liked him as a father!!

And then there was Zarefsky — A Muslim Major who loves his country more than anything and wants to impress others but turns out that he is being used!!! Honestly, as a Muslim myself, I was worried about this Muslim Rep!! Authors usually don’t do justice while writing them!!! There were 2-3 problematic scenes however everything ended up being okay!!!

And Irina!!! 😞 I felt sooooo bad for her!!! I really don’t know why the author would do that!!! I wish things were different for her!!!

Now, for the ending — everything was going okay until that last chapter!!! What the hell happened there? 😳 or should I ask why???

In one sentence, this whole book was unpredictable, through and through!!! 🙂‍↕️

Kyd’s Game is a fast-paced spy thriller that blends international intrigue with a deeply personal story about family and sacrifice. The novel follows Neil Kyd, a man accused of assassinating a Russian presidential candidate and now hunted by Russian Special Forces. As the pressure closes in on him, Kyd’s primary motivation is not politics or ideology, but saving his daughter’s life.

The story moves quickly, filled with unexpected twists, deception, and tense confrontations. Comparisons to classic spy novels such as John le Carré’s The Spy Who Came In From The Cold are fitting, as the book explores moral ambiguity and the emotional cost of life in the shadows. At the same time, Kyd’s character brings a more personal element to the genre, as his love for his daughter drives every risky decision he makes.

One of the novel’s strongest aspects is its balance between action and character development. The espionage elements are gripping, but the emotional stakes keep the story grounded and relatable. Rosenberg’s writing maintains suspense throughout, making the book difficult to put down.

Overall, Kyd’s Game is a compelling and thrilling novel that will appeal to fans of espionage and political thrillers. With its combination of high-stakes danger, emotional depth, and constant suspense, it delivers an engaging and memorable reading experience.

All he wanted was the possibility of giving the best health care to his daughter, who was dying, and find an activity that could really interest him, he was not a farmer. He had left the CIA to be able to care for Molly after his wife died and now he's being sucked into the espionage life again and is going to Russia to retrieve documents that will prove Russia's involvement in Syria's use of biological weapons. He was sent to a trap but will he be able to return to the US? Will he obtain the documents he was supposed to ? Will he survive? Kyd's Game is fast-paced, well-written, and kept me intrigued and engaged with the story, cheering for a good outcome. Highly recommended!
I thank the author, his publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC.

this was a strong psychological thriller novel, it had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed from this type of book. Marc Rosenberg wrote this well and was glad I got to read this. The characters were everything that I wanted in this and had that element that worked in this universe.
