Everything happens for a reason and no amount of time can change that. I loved this book so much totally swept me away

This is exactly what I needed. I've been in a reading rut due to a hard couple weeks of life. After struggling to finish a really good mystery, I picked this up because it was short and I like Becky Wade's books. Wade writes a story that is encouraging and romantic without being sappy and overdone. She weaves together real life dilemmas and personable characters while driving across the themes of second chances and God's timing. Even though it is a novella, I connected with the characters and their best friends. I never felt like I was cheated out of a full length novel. Becky Wade keeps proving why she is one of the few romance authors I read. If you haven't read any of her work, this is a great start.

I really, really loved this story.

I have had a bit of a love-hate relationship with this second series of Year of Weddings novellas, and, as such, decided to stick to authors who I knew consistently wrote brilliant faith-based romance. Becky Wade is certainly just such an author. I love her Porter Family series and eagerly await any new book she has to offer. So, I knew it would be worth reading her addition to the Year of Wedding series. I was right. This novella has all of Becky Wade's trademark charming writing style, great characters and swoony romance.

Holly is a successful full-time writer, but she gave up on her own happily ever after eight years ago when she sacrificed her dreams for those of her boyfriend Josh's. Now he has returned to her little town of Martinsburg, a wealthy and successful businessman, to stand up as best man in his best friend's wedding. But his proximity and their shared connection to the wedding has the past threatening to expose itself. Can Holly walk away with her heart intact, or will Josh's return change everything.

This was just the book I needed: light, sweet and incredibly smile inducing. I felt myself relax every time I opened it up. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed reading it. The pace never felt rushed or the story contrived, which can so often happen in novellas. I would happily read more of Holly and Josh's romance, but there really wasn't anything missing from their story. It was the perfect mix of backstory (without any lengthy flashbacks) and redeveloping romance that felt fresh, new and exciting. I loved the faith aspects. They balanced the story and made it meaningful. I loved Holly, who was kind and sweet. I loved Holly's friend Sam, who added humour and sass. And as for Josh... well all I can say is 'sigh'. Toe-curling sigh. I loved that there wasn't any unnecessary drama or big, mean characters, just romantic tension and anticipation.

If you haven't yet sampled some of the novellas from the Year of Weddings series (1 or 2), then this is the perfect one to start with. And, if you have already read others then make sure you don't miss Love in the Details. It is a must read for everyone who loves delicious faith-based romance.

The publishers provided a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Such a sweet love story. Holly and Josh's hurt seemed real. I absolutely loved this story and Wade's writing!

On the journey towards my goal of reading 115 books this year, I have found that sometimes nothing hits the spot quite like a novella. The thing about novellas is that sometimes they can be a bit disappointing. I’ve struggled through some less-than-stellar novellas in the past, and even given some up altogether. Since they are often written by young, or new authors, they can sometimes miss some of the points of really good stories. This novella by Becky Wade caught my eye and I decided to give it a try. I’ve seen books by Becky Wade before, but I’ve never read any of them. After reading Love in the Details I definitely plan to remedy that in the future. My biggest beef with authors who write novellas, is that sometimes they just don’t have enough space or time to truly develop their plot and characters, or they give too much information in too short of space and the end of the story feels rushed. But Ms. Wade manages to walk the fine line between these two pits. I felt like her story was complete, without being overwhelming in the least. I was able to connect with the characters and learn just enough about them to enjoy this sweet, albeit short, story.

Holly broke up with Josh eight years ago when he left for college, but that doesn’t mean she ever stopped loving him. Now he’s returned to her small Texas town for a few short weeks and they are thrown together again. They must both look beyond the pain of the past to find out if they have a future together.

I have read many of the stories written in the Year of Weddings series, and a few in the Second Year of Weddings series, and this one is one of my favorites. Holly is charming, and endearing, and is not trying to win her man back by making him jealous, which seems to be a popular plotline in stories like this. She’s determined to receive his forgiveness for hurting him so long ago, and then get on with her life. Josh is not out to hurt Holly back, but is just searching for answers to old questions. He is powerless to keep himself away from her, and finds excuses to be with her.

I loved this story from start to finish, and definitely recommend to lovers of clean, simple, Christian romances. It’s also great when you want a short read that won’t leave you feeling like you missed something along the way to a happy ending!

Happy Reading!

Lyndsie

Thanks to Zondervan Publishing & Netgalley for the ARC. 'Oh' !!!! Becky Wade - I love this book & 'oh!' Why did it have to be a novella?!?! As far as short stories go, it was a dream to read, I love both Josh & Holly, such wonderful characters, who fit so perfectly together. My only gripe with this book? It was far too short!!!! I love this novella so much, I wished it was a regular length book!!! Sweet story, genuine loveable characters, I love the way Josh treats Holly, and that the fact neither of them ever wanted to be apart from each other, sometimes when you read stories about couples finding each other again, one or the both have done something that means a huge amount of forgiveness in order for reconciliation. There's almost an element of naivety in the separation of these two, that while you kind of get it, you just are rooting from the start for them to realize the truth, so they can just be together again! Love, love, love this book!!

As soon as I saw Becky Wade had a novella coming out, I had to get my hands on it. I'm such a fan of her writing, and this book didn't disappoint. It didn't even really feel like a novella. Of course it was short, and I couldn't put it down, so I blew right through it. But often novella's feel rushed and lack depth and character development. This one wasn't like that.

This book was different than I was expecting. It focused much more on Holly and Josh's personal growth than on the love story itself. I really enjoyed all the characters. Except Sam, wasn't really a huge fan of her, but she served her purpose. Holly's internal struggle was very relevant and relatable. I was hoping for a little bit more of the relationship aspect than we got. But all in all it was a fun, sweet read and I really enjoyed it.

Love in the Details: A November Wedding Story is book 12 in the Year of Wedding Stories 2. I haven't read any of the other stories but when I saw that this one by Becky Wade was available on Netgalley I jumped at the opportunity to read it. Becky Wade is one of my favorite authors. I recently started reading her works a couple of months ago. I read the first of her Porter series books and was hooked and then after that read everything she wrote. This book is a novela so it can be read in a couple of hours. It starts off with Holly writing a "Dear John" letter to her high school sweetheart breaking off with him. She still loves him dearly but breaks off with him at the urging of his mother so he can pursue a scholarship at MIT. The rest of the book is about them reconnecting eight years later when his best man is getting married. In the eight years that have passed Josh has become filthy rich. Holly is a successful author but far from rich. In a few of Becky Wade's novels she incorporates a little bit of humor and this one is no different. Holly's elderly neighbor was quite funny and there was a incidence at a wedding with something being spilled on flower girl dresses. I think this book would have been better had it been a full-length novel instead of a novela. It would have been better had there been some conflict but it was basically free of conflict.

Thanks to Netgalley and Zondervan for allowing me to read and review this book which is due to be released October 27, 2015.

Oh the fun of reunion romances! I’ve enjoyed Becky’s books from her first release. So glad Zondervan included her in this series. I’ve just finished reading two regency romances (historicals), so coming back to a contemporary was a fun change.

Here we have a couple who were once in a relationship and who run into each other again years after they broke up. That’s a fun conflict. The fact they are each unattached, that there is still electricity between them, makes it even more enjoyable. But their secrets get in the way.

The hero’s directness was delicious. So often in romantic fiction we see characters who miscommunicate or have misunderstandings. I enjoyed watching a character speak the truth outright.

The heroine’s noble in keeping the secret she keeps, but I still longed for her to be open and forthright. (Which may have been why I appreciated the hero’s approach.) Her best friend, Sam, is a hoot! Their banter was delicious. As I read, I saw this story as a fit for a TV movie.

This was a fast read, with a theme of personal worth. In fact, the author snuck that theme in such a way that I questioned my own understanding because I didn’t see it coming—it just seemed natural. Ah, the sign of a good story—a profound lesson without preaching, for the discerning reader.

As always with these Zondervan novellas, the first release is in e-book format before three are combined for re-release in paperback format.

Enjoy!

I tend to have a love/hate relationship for Novellas. I love that I can read the story in one sitting, but dislike that the majority of Novella's I have read have a choppy story. Most of the mini-books build the love story and conflict only to suddenly crash land to an easily tied up and resolved ending in one chapter. Becky Wade is one of the few authors who seamlessly craft a novella which you walk away definitely wanting more of the characters and charming town but at the same time feel very satisfied with the short time you spent in fictional world with them.
Love in the Details is an easy read and charming story of high school sweethearts Josh and Holly. During their Freshman year in college, Holly suddenly broke off their relationship with no solid explanation, but determined to ensure Josh's future success. Eight years later, they are now reunited as helpers in a mutual friend's wedding. I kept waiting for the dreaded "suck you into a sweet story and build up to how will this end to suddenly resolve in one quick chapter," but Becky writes a beautiful short story wrapped with a reminder to trust God with the best intentions for our lives. One of my favorite scenes involved Holly's realization that just because their love may have had an end 8 years ago, God was showing her "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." ~ Ecclesiastes 3:1 Thank you NetGalley and Zondervan publishing for the opportunity to read A November Wedding Story in exchange for my honest reviews.

Bring on the pumpkin spice lattes, crisp air and fall colors--this is a perfect little romance to curl up with to get in the autumn mood!

How do you get over your first love, especially when your reason for breaking up in the first place was sacrificial? I felt for good-natured, take-it-on-the-chin Holly, trying to make the best of an awkward situation. As she wrestled with what to do with her still very much alive feelings for Josh, I could relate to her struggle with not listening to her inner voice, putting her down, but trying to hold on ìnstead to how God saw her value. Quiet Josh tries so hard to hide behind his business facade too, that I hoped he'd take a risk and be openly honest with what he really wanted. Interesting how we tend to judge people as not needing anyone once they succeed in life, when down deep we all want to be loved and accepted for who we are, flaws and all.

Recommend for Christian romance fans looking for a quick, uplifting read. 4.5 stars

(Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the book in exchange for my honest, unsolicited review.)

Love in the details is one of the novellas in the year of wedding series by Becky Wade. I really enjoyed this one. I felt like the plot was very realistic. Holly and Josh had been high school sweethearts. Josh is very intelligent and gets a full ride to MIT and Holly ends up breaking up with him to ensure his success at school. The story starts eight years later when they are both together for a mutual friend's wedding. Josh is now very successful with the technology company. I love that Holly was a young adult writer. I thought the storyline was realistic regarding the dilemma when they were in college and her dilemma with his success now. Very good chemistry between the Holly and Josh. I liked her friend, Sam and how they would go to restaurants to try all of them in her city.
I recommend this book if you love a rekindling of a high school sweethearts romance.

Love in the Details is a Year of Weddings Novella by Becky Wade due to be released through Zondervan on October 27th.

Bravo to Becky. I usually avoid novella and short stories because I always find them too short. Love in the Details was perfect. Just the right length for the story being told. Such a fun story about sacrifice, timing and second chances. I could even see this being made into a movie. Love the characters Holly and Josh and their lively band of friends. Thank you to NetGalley for providing the opportunity to read an early release. Seriously buy this book you won’t regret it,

"Love in the Details" is the November addition to the "Year of Weddings" novella series, which can be read in any order, and is the first novella by Becky Wade. I was very excited for more of Mrs. Wade's writings while waiting for the fourth book in the Porter family series, and a novella was just enough to tide me over while I wait.

This novella picks up with Holly, whose boyfriend's mother had pressured her to break up with Josh at the end of high school so that he will go on to succeed in college. She does so, out of sacrificial love for him, but doesn't tell him her reason for breaking up.

Eight years later, Josh has gone on to be very successful, with offices all over the world and a house in Paris. Holly is an author in the same Texas town. The two of them have never stopped thinking of each other, day after day. When a friend's wedding brings Josh back into town as best man, how will they face each other again?

I enjoyed this little story; the characters were still well developed, and while I didn't really like the secrecy, I understand that it was a major part of the plot. Overall I really enjoyed this story.

Thank you so much to Harper Collins publishing and Net Galley for providing me with a Kindle copy of this book to read and review. All opinons are my own and were not required to be positive.

I get excited to read ANY of Becky Wade's stories. And this one was worth getting excited for! I love the sweet characters, the funny moments, and the charming circumstances on each well written page. Becky has a fabulous way of sharing her stories and this one will pull you right in. Josh and Holly are super cute and it was fun to read their story!

I am a huge Becky Wade fan and couldn't wait to read her first novella! This charming story had a slightly different feel than her full-length novels, but was a delight to read and perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Don't miss it!

Could lost love find itself again?

I jumped into Love in the Details not sure what to expect (as usual, I didn't read the book description). I was definitely pulled in right away wondering what was going to happen. Since it was a novella, I was able to find out pretty quickly and definitely enjoyed the journey.

Holly was easy to relate to for me since she is a writer and living in a small town. Both things I can identify with. I enjoyed seeing the side of her life that involved her writing, but also her routine's in the town. I would say her friend Sam was...interesting? I didn't agree with her advice to Holly most of the time, but Holly was strong enough to make her own decisions.

Josh, on the other hand, was a little harder to identify with. At times I was surprised by the motivation of some of his actions since we weren't able to get a look into how he made some of the decisions he did, but I understand time (and word count) is limited in a novella.

Overall, I enjoyed the story, though I would have liked to see more of Holly and Josh together on the page. What pulled me toward the end the most was the fact that they had more interaction and we could see the internal workings of their hearts. All those lovely things that make you swoon! That said, I still enjoyed the story a lot and could easily recommend it to lovers of romance and weddings.

This novella would be a perfect "take a break" read from the busyness of life.

I love stories of people finding their way back to each other, and Becky Wade does this story flawlessly. Holly and Josh were great characters and well-developed in a short time. The romance was sweet. This is a great book. I recommend it to fans of Becky Wade and those who enjoy sweet romances.

Super cute little romance! I have read one other book by Becky and it was real cute as well - Undeniably Yours.
While this was not my favorite, it was a real nice little romance. I loved the characters. It always amazes me how an author can have such great character development in a short Novella! But Becky does a great job with the characters. I loved that they had history - high school sweethearts - awwww. Josh is a great leading man! The kind of guy you would want your daughter to fall for.
Really sweet, quick, heart warming story.

What I Loved...
True to Becky Wade fashion, there are lots of what I like to call "Just Kiss Her Already!" moments. There are also some "Just Admit Your Love!" moments too. I LOVE these kinds of moments. With Love In The Details being a novella, I didn't have to wait long for them or the ending.

What I Liked...
Josh is adorably nerdy and brooding and yet a softy. Becky knows how to write a hero well.

Love In The Details can probably hold me over until Becky's next full-length release, although she should probably get a move on.

Other...
I know this book is part of a collection and I get that is the reason for the cover. BUT that doesn't mean I have to like it. I love Becky's usually cute covers and this fell flat. It's not a bad cover, just lacking Becky's signature look. I probably wouldn't buy this book based off the cover.

All in all, if you are looking for a fun, romantic and short read, this is one to definitely get. I truly enjoyed it.

Eight years ago, Holly broke up with Josh, the love of her life, to free him to pursue his passions and goals. Josh's status as best man in his friend's wedding has brought him back to Martinsburg, Texas, and face-to-face with Holly. Josh and Holly's affections rekindle quickly, but both have their reasons for holding the other at a distance. Josh is only in town for the month before the wedding. Is one month enough time for Josh and Holly to fall in love again? Is there a way for their relationship to survive once Josh returns to work? Read more in Love In the Details by Becky Wade.

Love In the Details by Becky Wade is the November installment in the Year of Weddings Novellas (second series). I usually avoid novellas, but I have always enjoyed Becky Wade's novels and decided to give this a try. The novella is classic Becky Wade – one super rich and attractive character falls in love with one not so rich, but attractive and talented character. The length is obviously shorter than her normal stories, but the characters had issues to work out which provided sufficient depth to the natural progression of their relationship and kept the story from being easily forgotten as many novellas are to me. I enjoyed Love In the Details and I recommend it to readers looking for a sweet story of second-chance romance.

My exposure to the Year of Weddings collection (published by Zondervan, a house under the HarperCollins umbrella) has been limited. I have one of the paperback collections on my shelf and read one other thanks to a blog tour. When I learned rom-com author extraordinaire Becky Wade was contributing a novella to this year’s line up, I knew, without question it’d be a must read. Texas as the home base might set the stage for most of her novels, but this one is “fresh.” It steps away from her beloved, rooted-in-Texas Porter clan to introduce readers to an entirely new set of characters. Lest you be worried this doesn’t live up to the quirky albeit loveable family, I’d like to convince you otherwise.

Josh and Holly are the hero and heroine of our all-too-short story. Josh is the hometown boy who returns in advance of his best friend’s wedding to a Martinsburg heiress. While there, Josh is faced with seeing, and in some small sense, working with his ex, Holly. In high school and part of his early college life, Holly was the only girl he had eyes for. She was the woman he wanted to marry… until she broke his heart by breaking it off with him. After she ended things, neither one of them moved on. Now that Josh is back, their feelings seem to still have a spark… but is that enough for a second chance?

As with any novella, pacing and timing seems to be key factors to making anything work and be a smooth experience for the reader. Becky manages this flawlessly. There is already a clear established relationship between the couple, which goes a long way in lending authenticity to the eventual ending. Speaking of those characters, I adored Josh and Holly. Most of our time is spent seeing things through Holly’s eyes (in that we’re mostly inside her point-of-view), but on the rare occasion we are among Josh’s thoughts. I found myself loving his character. He’s one of those guys who loved deeply, and right or wrong, he carried that around for eight years, only to have it resurface when he was again faced with the past. In other words, he’s one of the good guys. Holly, likewise, has a unique story; her backstory is one I’ve not seen before and her struggle to accept a second chance isn’t difficult to understand. Also a fun though rare appearance character is Holly’s best friend, Sam.

Sweetly imagined and poignant in unexpected places, Love in the Details is a next-to-perfect novella. If short stories are your guilty pleasure, then picking up a copy of this is a must. It’s inspirational, it’ll tug at your heart strings, and best of all, it’s romantic. One of my favorite things about the novel was Josh’s current status (much as I’d like to explain this, I won’t given the need to hold back on spoilers). Don’t miss reading this delightful charmer. It’s a detail you won’t wish to overlook adding to any of your fall reading lists.

Sincere thanks to the author for a copy of this book (via Netgalley) for the purpose of reviewing it.

Josh returns to Martinsburg, Texas to help his best friend make final preparations for his wedding. What Josh didn't realize is that when he saw his high school sweetheart again, his feelings for her would come flooding back to him. Holly, his high school sweetheart, broke up with him once he went off to college, but what he doesn't know is the real reason she broke up with him.

I had no idea what this book was about when I began reading it. With the author being Becky Wade, there was no doubt in my mind that I would love it no matter what! And I was correct. She has a way of bringing out the hopeless romantic in me. I adore her ability to make me laugh and cry all within the same few seconds!

I admired Holly's love for Josh, even back in high school. She knew at such a young age, the importance of Josh finishing his college and allowing him to develop to his full potential. I'm not so sure that I could have made that same sacrifice.

Josh was such an upstanding guy. His wealth could have easily made him a complete jerk, but it didn't. He returned to Martinsburg to help his best friend, even paying for some of his best friend's wedding expenses. He was such a swell guy, kind, patient, and very tender hearted.

This story was a sweet novella, that had me from the beginning! I was completely caught up in Josh and Holly's story. Great job, once again, Becky! If you're a hopeless romantic, then you don't want to miss this sweet novella!

Becky Wade is releasing a novella later this month and I truly couldn't wait to read it. Why? Simple, I love her writing. She always brings a wonderful story full of romance.
I loved this story!!
The setting is late summer in Martinsburg, Texas. No, I've never been to Texas, but with the vivid descriptions I was immediately swept there. We are introduced to Josh Bowen and Holly Morgan, high school sweethearts. Josh new Holly was the one for him from the moment he saw her. What happened?
Life.
After graduating Josh reluctantly went off to MIT for his education and Holly off to UT in San Antonio. Shortly thereafter, Josh's mom paid Holly a visit on campus and explained that Josh was wanting to quit because he missed Holly so much. She then asked Holly to break off the relationship so he would finish his education at MIT. Holly wanted Josh to have this opportunity and advantage that he wouldn't otherwise be able to afford. With a heavy heart Holly made the call that would leave them both brokenhearted. Fast forward 8 years. Josh is living in Paris, France and runs a very successful business that specializes in developing apps for smartphones and tablets. Holly still lives in Martinsburg where she writes YA novels and is the volunteer wedding coordinator at Trinity Church. Neither have spoken in years, but they have kept up with each other's careers. Josh would need to return to Martinsburg to serve as best man for his friend, Ben, and to arrange the rehearsal dinner. Running into Holly was the last thing he wanted to do, but as awkward as the moment was it brought to surface long buried feelings.

Second chances are not something we get very often.
I was quickly drawn into the plot and it kept me turning the pages. I loved both characters. Holly does something most people don't do, she put Josh and his future before herself. That selfless act shows her deep love of Josh. She has tried to move on with her life but her one true love captured her heart. I like how when she is faced this an obstacle she turns it all over to God and knows he will direct her in the path to take. Josh is a wonderful character. He is always drawn to Holly, but when given a chance to reunite with her he's unsure of whether to trust her with his heart. To me, that shows the human frailty.
This is a wonderful story of second chances, forgiveness, trust and most importantly love. Jesus tells us in Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good romance.
**I received this from NetGalley for a honest opinion without bias or outside influence.

It's sometimes hit or miss for me in these Year of Weddings novellas but I knew that this one would be a hit (or at least I had high hopes!) because it was by Becky Wade and I love her. I knew I had to read this one.

Holly and Josh. Josh and Holly. In love but then she dumps him unexpectedly. He is angry, she is sad. Years later they cross paths again and the sparks are still there but so are the hurts. It's not a new idea for a book but I it felt fresh to me. The characters were real and driven by real emotions. I liked Holly and Josh. I liked their story and I liked the re-connection journey. It was a sweet romance.

Today is release day for Love in the Details! You can pick it up and read it today. :) My thanks to the publisher, Zondervan, for allowing me to read and review for them. And also my thank to the author who let me jump on board her review team for this novella.

I said above that I just love Becky Wade. The Porter Family Series is one of my all time favorites! If you haven't read them yet, you should really check them out.

This is a lovely second-chance romance. My rating 4.5.
Holly and Josh were high school sweethearts. He was the school geek but she still loved him. When Josh went away to college at MIT, Holly became convinced that she would only hold him back so she broke up with him. She hasn’t found a man to love since Josh, but she prays that God will bring the right man to her.

Josh was stricken when Holly broke up with him giving no reason. He dedicated himself to his studies and became a successful businessman based out of Paris. He is returning home for the first time in eight years to be the best man for his friend. He tried to prepare himself to see Holly and walk away from her. Instead he ends up working with her as the church wedding coordinator and a local guide to the community.

Holly tries to protect her heart from falling for Josh feeling that she isn’t worthy of his sophisticated lifestyle. She is afraid to hope he could learn to care for her again. Josh is cautious to trust knowing how badly he was hurt before. Is there a chance for them to overcome their past and find a second chance at love?

This story is lovely, short and sweet. I was smiling with an occasional wince at the painful moments and fears. Their reactions are natural with emotions that are very real to life. I enjoyed the gentle faith that helped to shape their characters and ultimately their relationship. The writing style is light and made for easy reading. I would be interested in reading more from Ms. Wade after enjoying this short taste of her work. If you are a reader who enjoys warmth, inspiration and second chances, I recommend you pick up this sweet book.

Holly knew she would bump into Josh soon, but was not prepared to actually see him. The only man she has ever actually loved. Will she be able to work with him and keep her heart in check? She is content in the life she has made for herself and is not sure she would ever be able to live up to him.

Josh has been prepared to run into Holly for months, yet when he sees her he is not ready for the sparks that fly. She is the only one that ever understood him. After she broke his heart, with no explanation, he does not intend to allow her to do it again. Yet he is wanting to just spend time with her. You would think eight years he would be over her, but.....

I love Becky Wade's writing style. She has a way of keeping you enjoying every detail of her stories. Her characters are developed well and I love their dialogue. The banter between Josh and Holy is great. This book is a great novella. If you are looking for a quick, clean great romance this is one for you.

I was given a copy of this novella from net galley for my honest opinion.

Love in the Details is another novella in the Zondervan Year of Weddings series, each of which is a standalone novella. I’ve read several of them, and Love in the Details is definitely one of the better stories in the series. Becky Wade is an excellent author, who manages to inject just the right level of humour into what could have been a depressingly sad story.

Holly Morgan fell in love with Josh Bowen at high school, but broke up with him during their first year of college. What he never knew—because she never told him—is that she broke up at the request of his mother, who was afraid he’d throw his college scholarship and come home to Texas. Holly broke up with him, he never came home, and how he’s a tech billionaire (oh, gone are the days where mere millionaires were considered romantic heroes!).

Now Josh is temporarily back in Martinsburg, Texas, for his best friend’s wedding. He’s best man, and Holly is the church wedding liaison, which throws them together once more, and Holly finds Josh still hasn’t forgiven her … and she still hasn’t gotten over him. Will they be able to get over their past and find true love? Well, this is a romance novella, so the answer to that should be pretty obvious.

However, Love in the Details manages to be more than a cliché romance. The writing is excellent, both characters are lovable and well-developed, and the combination of internal conflict and external attraction makes this an excellent short read. Recommended.

What I've so enjoyed about this e-series from Zondervan is the ability to fit a great book into my short amount of free time. I was deliriously happy to see that Becky Wade had added her name to the list of authors this year, and I've counted down the days until her Fall release.

As is typical with Wade's books, there's plenty of romance and laughter woven into the story. In Love in the Details she once again balances a story of growth and faith with falling in love, and she does it immensely well especially given the short length of the book. Wade is expert at not preaching at her readers but rather allowing her characters to simply live out their faith in organic ways, struggles and all. Her characters are real, and that is a fact I've always appreciated.

Oh, and she does romance very, very well.

If you've read Wade's books before, you'll definitely enjoy finding her voice wrapped into this shortened version of her storytelling. While her full-length books allow more room to extend the complexity of the plot and characters (something she excels at), this was still a wonderful read in a series I hope she'll continue contributing to in the coming years.

There's something about a hero longing for the woman he's always loved but could never have that gets me every time! Josh wasn't planning to pursue Holly but after their first encounter since years of separation he just can't help himself. The clincher is that Holly never wanted to lose him but outside forces compelled her to set him free- against both their wills, and she didn't tell him why- which seriously ups the angst factor. I love how Josh conspires to spend more time with Holly and they fall back into their friendship and banter despite the palpable undercurrents of attraction and yearning. The novella is definitely character focused and was such a pleasure to read!

How sweet story!

Easy to read, very well-written, lovely characters.

I smiled like an idiot a couple of times.

I liked Josh most of the novella, specially in the beginning where he seemed so confident and strong; however, in the last chapters, I find him a bit overwhelming.

I could not get involved with Holly so much, I enjoyed her character, though.

A really complicated issue was solved too fast, I think, but I it did not bother me that much.

Pick it up if you want to have good time with a nice and short read.

This is an easy read that I couldn't put down! It flowed well and I thought the romantic overtones were perfect for this story.

This was a fantastically sweet novella. From the beginning letter in the prologue, I was charmed by Holly and Josh. The two of them were perfect on the page together and made for an entertaining read.

Both Josh and Holly have strong characteristics that shine. They both were quite lively and well-developed, and I felt like they were people I should know in real life (I was sad to say goodbye when the story ended!). The secondary characters popped off the page as well and made for a few entertaining moments.

This particular story was so well developed for its short length. It truly was the perfect amount for a novella. There was definitely a plot and a bit of wonder of how things would actually work out for these two characters. It’s probably one of my favorites of these series so far.

During their freshman year of college, Holly broke up with Josh to give him a chance at a better life--and he went on to become a millionaire genius in the IT world, while she stayed home in small-town Texas. Now, eight years later, Holly is acting as wedding coordinator at her church, and Josh flies home from Paris to be best man in his friend's wedding. Both still in love with the other, neither completely over the hurt--will they get past the fear and follow God's timing in their lives?

I love Becky wade's style of humor. Even though it's a moving story and swoon-worthy romance, Holly's perspective on life has such a delightful touch of humor. I also enjoyed the subtle encouragement to writers (Holly being a novelist) - "Well, it didn't look like genius would be forthcoming today. She'd settle for mediocre hogwash. Then, at least, she'd have something to work with. Hard to edit and revise blank pages." (46) - So true.

If you want a sample of Wade's writing, this is absolutely true to her novels, but on a smaller scale - funny, poignant, romantic, with an emotional punch and uplifting spiritual thread. And hard to remain dry-eyed all the way through. And if you want a high quality novella, then absolutely read this one. It's rare that I think a novella would not be improved by lengthening it, but this is one of the few - any longer, and it might actually lose impact. It's perfect as it is. 5 stars!

Every once in a while, I enjoy taking a break from full-length novels and reading a good novella, or a collection of novellas. I started reading this after finishing Winter by Marissa Meyer, after an intense read like that it was nice to read something that was a bit lighter.

This is the first Becky Wade novella that I have read and I liked it. I definitely want to try one of her novels sometime in the near future. It isn't the best story on earth, but it was a nice relaxing, read-in-an-afternoon kind of read, which I also love, especially during the Winter months.

The plot was predictable, it was obvious that the two main characters were going to end up together. I felt like the part where they got together was rushed because for most of the novella there was constant tensions and then they make up...I just don't know if this is realistic. I know it is a novella and there isn't a whole lot of time to develop these things, but it still felt too quick.

I don't know if it is because I received an ARC or not, but there were a lot of words that needed to be capitalized. But other than that it was a sweet story.

Thanks to NetGalley and Zondervan for sending me a copy of this novella to review.

Becky Wade writes a heartwarming novella. I always find it fascinating how some authors can deliver a compelling story in such a short number of pages, and that is exactly what Becky Wade delivers.

It has been eight years since Holly broke up with her high school sweetheart, Josh, and she is going to run in to him again in the streets of their hometown when he comes back to town to help plan his best friend, Ben’s wedding.

This story is chuck full of characters you will enjoy, a storyline that is simply brilliant in its delivery, and finding out if love can revive itself after eight years, is astounding.

Honest, true love based on Gods timing and trust in HIS will. I enjoyed this short novel and the chance to see the outcome sooner rather than later.

Holly and Josh were high school sweethearts. When Josh decided to go to MIT, Holly broke it off with him and hasn't seen him since. Eight years go by and now Josh is back in town for a friend's wedding. Holly never stopped loving Josh, so this looked like a good point where Holly could see if there is something still between them. The unique thing about this story is that it is told by both Holly's point of view and Josh's point of view. This story is really cute and I really liked the characters. I think Holly and Josh were fantastic and they make such a great couple. Wade's writing is fantastic, no one would know this was a novella except the fact that it is short because Wade really explains the story and the characters well. I think it was very nicely done.

Love in the Details is a sweet "second chance at first love" novella that features characters not connected to Wade's other novels. Holly and Josh are both incredibly likable characters, and, in a departure from Wade's most recent heroes, Josh is fairly undamaged and really borders on perfection. Normally, I don't like "too perfect" heroes, but in this case, with this short novella-length time to get to know Josh, it works.

I loved watching Holly and Josh's relationship develop from the first awkward "nice to see you again" moment through the sigh-inducing happily ever after. And I may have giggled a few times along the way, too!

If you've never read a Becky Wade novel, Love in the Details will give you a nice introduction to her writing. And if you're a longtime fan like me, this novella is just what you need to hold you over until her next novel releases! 5 stars.
