Description

Navy corpsman Nathan Crawford has been his daughter Paige's whole world for eleven years—ever since her mother walked away.

He's built them a safe, predictable life. No surprises. No risks. No room for anyone else.

Until ER nurse Tasha Williams challenges everything he thought he knew about keeping people at arm's length.

Sharp-tongued and fiercely competent, Tasha sees through Nate's walls to the man underneath—the one who still wakes from nightmares of Fallujah, who braids his daughter's hair with military precision, who's never forgiven himself for the lives he couldn't save.

Just as their unlikely family begins to heal old wounds, the past comes calling. Paige's biological mother returns with lawyers and lies, determined to claim the daughter she abandoned.

Now Nate must fight the battle of his life—not in a war zone, but in a courtroom. And this time, he's not fighting alone.

Sometimes the greatest act of courage is letting someone else be strong for you.

Navy corpsman Nathan Crawford has been his daughter Paige's whole world for eleven years—ever since her mother walked away.

He's built them a safe, predictable life. No surprises. No risks. No room...

A Note From the Publisher

Written by an ER nurse and former firefighter lieutenant. This series draws on real emergency medicine experience to create authentic hospital settings, capable heroines, and emotionally grounded romance. No contrived misunderstandings, just characters who earn their happy endings.

This isn’t fantasy medicine or a sanitized Grey’s Anatomy knockoff. I got tired of reading that, so I wrote something steeped in lived experience, adrenaline, and emotional realism. If you’re tired of medical romance that gets everything wrong or turns nurses into accessories, Code Blue Hearts is your remedy.

This book contains realistic depictions of emergency medical situations as experienced by healthcare providers, including:

- A brief but emotionally challenging scene involving suspected child abuse. While handled with sensitivity and professional care, this content may be difficult for some readers.
- Combat-related PTSD and trauma, including descriptions of wartime injuries and casualties
- Depictions of racist harassment in a healthcare setting
- Family court proceedings involving child custody
These scenes are integral to the authentic portrayal of emergency medicine and the emotional toll on healthcare workers. They are written with respect for real survivors and are never gratuitous. The focus remains on the caregivers' professional response and emotional resilience.

Standalone Book 2 of a completed 4-book series. Reading Book 1 isn't required but it's FREE for NetGalley reviewers who want the full experience: https://dl.bookfunnel.com/isnkzp7pzx

Advance Praise

- For the Second book in the Code Blue Hearts series, Tasha is still one of my favorite characters and I love her sass and quick comebacks. Nate is the perfect hero-strong, dependable, and his military scenes were incredibly powerful. Paige was such a joy and her connection with Tasha made me smile every time.

- What a beautiful novel! I was so moved by it and read it all in one sitting! It gave the most beautiful vibes. I loved the military aspect and also the single father trope. It was a beautiful and romantic novel.

This is a rollercoaster of emotions. I loved the story but also broke my heart. I loved the characters, they don't feel 2 dimensional and the tension is realistic. I loved the romance as well.

No Greater Love is a perfect romance novel for those who love prime time medical drama shows. This novel combines a perfect combination of expertly written emergency room medicine smoothly combined with a steamy romance between veteran, single dad Nate and Tasha, who is emotionally reserved except for when it comes to Nate's eleven-year-old daughter, Paige. Through the story, we get to see Tasha and Nate grow as a couple as they overcome challenges, including the return of Paige's bio mom who abandoned her at a few weeks old.

The medical and military scenes in this novel are very well written. It's clear that the author is in her wheelhouse here and it shows in each scene. The banter between the main characters is funny and cute, and I really enjoyed eleven-year-old Paige. I did feel that Paige was written at times as a younger child than her eleven years - I felt like I was reading a five- or six-year-old girl instead of a pre-teen which was a bit confusing.

This book was an enjoyable read and I look forward to future books in this series.

Thank you to NetGalley, Victory Editing, and Cari Blake for an eARC of this novel.

Review: No Greater Love

This was such a relatable and heartwarming read! I adored the crossover from military life to civilian life and how authentically the challenges and adjustments were portrayed. The story flowed beautifully — things weren’t always perfect, and that made it all the more real.

PTSD and other sensitive topics were handled with so much care and respect, which I truly appreciated. It’s clear the author put thought into creating something both honest and hopeful.

This book honestly gave me a little faith back in humanity. It’s the kind of story that stays with you long after you finish. I’ll definitely be picking up the first book and anything else in this series — and I’ll be grabbing a physical copy for my shelf, too.

Tasha and Nathan you have stolen my time(fine with that) and my heart(okay also now fine with that) and what a way for it to be stolen. this book had me from the cover, the blurb and then fully blown into it when i started reading. it was stunning. i feel a little emotional even now remembering the first time i came across the moments im now coming back to thinking about as i review. you are all going to get that same lump in your throat, chest and tummy at times. but somehow you are going to be fine with that if it means you get to read stories like this. im incredible grateful for books. what they give and what they do is just wowzas. books like this remind me of that. remind me of the delight of books. and the talent of writers who bring them to us
i love this book and Cari's way of writing so that we get a whole sweep in time and events from the characters we follow. each moment is important and sets the scene for the lives we get fully immersed into.
this book is about love and so much more. but actually when i look back to think about it the "so much more" is indeed still about love. in all its forms what love can do to us even when it hurts. the Tasha and Nathan had me cheering them on for their love and that of the little family they were building. i was so emotional and scared for them at times. i was smiling and toes feeling fuzzy for them at others. and i was all in, all in with my heart and reading soul wishing for them to get the ending they deserved.
every point and theme to this book was hit on point. the emotional ones, the traumatic ones, the heart aching and heart mending ones. Cari built the lives of her characters with such depth that you feel like you can see their joys and pains and also want to scoop them up and make it all ok for them too. the ptsd parts were done with sensitive but realistic writing. the er and parts that spoke of that part in the characters life felt true and authentic.
the moments in court. the battle for the right choice. oh my word it had me unable to stop reading. i had to get through that bit on almost one breath.
it all flowed beautifully together. no part seemed missed and no part not giving the grave or truth it deserved.
and somehow the hope and joy, banter and love was all there too.
this book was absolutely fantastic. couldn't have wanted more going in. although it got me too much haha. i was too invested. but that for me is all i could wish for in a book. when i sit at the end and think " oh dear your going to be lingering on this joyous journey for a while aren't you?" and i answer myself "yes in the best possible way, yes i am!"
i started and couldn't stop until i finished this one. Cari is a beautiful writer. i cant wait for more.

This book was deeply enjoyable because it portrayed the complex realities of trauma and healing with authenticity, especially through Nathan's vivid and raw experiences as a Navy corpsman haunted by Fallujah.
The emotional depth in the development of family ties, particularly the evolving bond between Nathan, his daughter, and Tasha, made the story resonate on a personal level.
The balance between intense military themes and intimate moments of vulnerability created a compelling, heartfelt narrative.
The courtroom drama added tension and stakes outside the battlefield, emphasizing the fight to protect loved ones. Overall, the book’s honest exploration of courage, forgiveness, and human connection left a lasting impact.
