Description
The sparks between them weren’t the only fires started in Evers Hollow.
Rose Everson Finch thought her childhood friendship with Finn Murphy would last forever. But a disagreement shattered their bond.
She returns to New York City, only to learn that love is an illusion.
She’s since moved back to Evers Hollow, caring for her beloved grandmother and hiking the woods that inspire her middle-grade books.
A late-night phone call will change her past, her present, and threaten to turn her future to ash.
Finn Murphy never told his best friend Rose that he loved her.
Not as they grew up together, or the night she committed to marrying another man.
He’s avoided their small town since.
But family obligations bring him back.
Now he’s made a promise:
To protect Rose.
Lingering Flames is a small-town, friends-to-lovers, he-falls-first, romantic suspense in The Everson Legacy series by author Anna August. Set in the scenic mountains of Western North Carolina, it’s a full length novel with a steam-filled happy-ever-after.

some heart tugging moments in this book that likes to shake your heart and then hold it in different moments. i got so involved with our main characters and couldn't believe how much i ended up caring how they were going to all get through the things that came up for them. the secrets. the unravelling of older older older secrets and what people kept in. the old moments and second chances. the feelings not said and the need to say them now. it was just a really grab hold of you and not let go book, where you then really do end up caring about how its going to all turn out.
i felt so protective of Rose and didn't want any more angst to come her way. or mine reading about her story!
the side characters in this book also made up so much of what it was that they were just as important. the whole feel of it were made by all the working parts and i was interested and all of them.
this book is a really good read. its has all the things you want from one of these books. they hold that special kind of heart tugging and emotional moments. with the resilience seen in what characters go through and also those community's that comes together and are completely and utterly there for each other. oh and the romance. well, ha you wont need me to say one word on that. okay, you wouldn't get me able to say one word on that because there would be too many. swooooooooooooooooon. if i talk too much on that i will go all bashful and red in the cheek.
Loved it. An enchanting and intriguing tale of romance, loss, and family mysteries. I did skip over the intimate scenes. I look forward to seeing who will be the main characters in the next one in this new series. Lots of family story possibilities. Nice small-town feel.
