Bobby and Mandee finished watching a movie at a theater and were going to meet their police officer father at the station. On the way they spot a gun in the alley. They end up calling 911 to report it. Before they do that they go through the rules of gun safety: always assume the gun is loaded, never touch a gun, guns are not to be played with like a toy, don’t leave guns laying around, guns don’t belong in schools and if there is one tell an adult, if gun found in a neighborhood tell an adult. At the end of the book are helpful hints for parents about firearms.
The book was an excellent educational tool to learn about gun safety. It was written in a simple way that kids could understand and remember. With all the shootings that took place especially in schools, books like this should be used to discuss guns and gun safety with kids.
Thank you NetGalley
This is such a great kids’ book on gun safety. The artwork is adorable — bright, fun, and the kind of illustrations that actually keep a child’s attention. I really loved that part.
The information is simple and easy for kids to understand: what to do if they find a gun, how guns should be stored, and what to do if they ever see one at school. It explains everything in a calm, kid-friendly way without making it scary. There’s even a little section for adults, which I appreciated.
Overall, it’s a helpful and gentle way to teach an important topic. Thank you to NetGalley for letting me review this one.
