What do you do when someone from your past comes back and challenges all that you have mapped out for your future? This is exactly the situation Alex is in when a blast from his past turns up while he dines with his wife.
I'm not going to say anymore except that you need to read this one, to see the journey that these characters take. I was shocked at some of the twists and at other times, I debated what Alex was doing. I do love a good unexpected plot line though and this one had it in spades. I like the way Sara Foster writes. She had me intrigued right from the start of the book. I can't wait to pick up some of her backlist titles.
This was a very interesting book. It was fun. It was fast paced. It kept me going to the last page. I was at the edge of my feet trying to see what will happen next. I’m sure others will love it as much as I did.
This was a fast-paced thriller which I really enjoyed. I read the ebook and had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook. The narrator was a very pleasant voice. Loved listening to it while walking my dog.
Never read a book from this author but I do have one book on my shelf, When she was gone.
The characters are well described and the story is very believable so you really feel for all of them. It is a different story than other books I read so very refreshing. I did finish t his one pretty quickly.
Really recommend this one to read!

When two sets of couples meet at a london restaurant for dinner, the plot takes off. Psychologically thrilling mysterious and perfectly paced. I enjoyed this novel.
Chloe and Mark are working as solicitors in London, and one evening, they arranged a dinner in a restaurant. Chloe brings along her husband, Alex, and Mark brings along his new date, Julia. As Alex meets Julia, both just couldn't hide that there was secret past between them from Julia's obvious distress and Alex's shocked face.
Chloe wonders how well she knows her husband, and who is this Julia?
I thought this title is a thriller, but it's actually more a psychological drama which brought up about PTSD. I can say the author plotting the story very well with great character development which will make you love them or hate them.
An emotional and heartfelt story centered on relationships and second chances. The characters felt authentic, and the emotional arc was well developed. A touching read that explores forgiveness and healing.

Two couples go out for a routine dinner that turns out to be anything but. Secrets from the past resurface when two of the diners recognize each other. Suddenly, the lives they had been living and had planned for are in jeopardy. There’s not much more I can say, without giving away crucial parts of the plot, but if you want a well written mystery with some shocking twists, this is the book for you.

What do you do when someone from your past resurfaces and threatens everything you’ve built for your future? That’s the situation Alex finds himself in when a blast from his past appears during a dinner with his wife. I won’t say much more, but the twists genuinely surprised me, and I often found myself questioning Alex’s choices. I love an unexpected plotline, and this one delivers. Sara Foster had me hooked from the start, and I’m already looking forward to reading more of her backlist. 3.75 ⭐️
This is a psychological thriller about how promises made and broken can haunt a person. It explores how the impact of a choice made in the past trying to be reconciled can gravely affect loved ones on the present.
Chloe and Alex are happily married. They arrive at a restaurant to meet up with Mark, Chloe’s business partner, to be introduced to a woman named Julia who knew Alex ten years ago. Julia leaves the party and doesn’t return leaving the other three confused. Both Mark and Alex want to find her for a variety of reasons all of which will create pain for Chloe. However, all three are harboring secrets that while long buried are ready to explode.
The book is divided into three parts: Part 1 sets up present day Chloe-Alex (married)and Chloe-Mark relationships (business/partners in a law firm); Part 2 goes back to 1999 with Amy/Julia-Alex and Chloe-Mark in relationships; Amy and Alex are in Australia where a tragic event occurs; Part 3 returns to the present (2009) with Alex returning to Australia with Amy to settle an old promise and Chloe in limbo as to her relationship with Alex.
I think the psychological aspects of the story are helped with the book’s structure, though I was really confused about the whole Chloe-Mark thing. I felt the Amy-Alex story was the best part of the book and would have preferred Mark to have been peripheral to the story. I think I would have liked Alex better if he’d just taken more time to communicate with Chloe who came off a bit too high strung when she was faced with Alex’s former lover. Nonetheless, the story kept me focused and this was a pretty good debut novel.
I’d like to thank NetGalley and Blackstone Publishing for allowing me to read this ARC.

This was a tense, emotionally layered psychological drama built around buried identities, past trauma, and a truth that refuses to stay hidden 😳
I really liked how the story opens with that seemingly ordinary dinner scene in London—it’s quiet but instantly uncomfortable. I liked how the tension comes from recognition rather than action, especially as Julia and Alex react like they know each other but refuse to explain why.
What I enjoyed most: the slow unraveling of a decade-old tragedy 🕰️ It adds depth to every character’s behavior, and I really liked how the story alternates between present-day uncertainty and the emotional weight of the past, gradually revealing what really connects everyone. I also liked Chloe’s perspective as she starts noticing cracks in what she thought was a stable relationship.
The emotional core here is strong—this isn’t just about secrets, but about whether people deserve second chances and whether the past ever truly stays buried.
If you love psychological suspense, hidden past identities, relationship tension, moral dilemmas, and slow-burn revelations that reshape everything you thought you knew, this is gripping, thoughtful, and very compelling 📖🔥
Come Back to Me by Sara Foster is a tense, emotionally layered story that blends mystery with themes of memory, loss, and identity. From the beginning, there’s an underlying sense of unease, as questions about the past slowly begin to surface. The narrative unfolds gradually, revealing pieces of the truth bit by bit. It leans into a slower pace, focusing on emotional depth and character development rather than constant action. While this adds richness, there are moments where it feels a bit drawn out.
the exploration of memory how unreliable it can be, and how it shapes the way we understand ourselves and others. The characters are complex and not always easy to fully trust, which adds to the intrigue. As the story builds, the tension increases and the mystery becomes clearer, leading to a conclusion that feels both satisfying and thought-provoking.
Overall, it’s a compelling read for those who enjoy psychological mysteries with emotional depth, layered storytelling, and a focus on the past’s lasting impact.
