Description
American heiress Calliope Hart is thrust into London's high society against her will, all because her mother is determined to marry her off to an aristocrat. Despite being named "the debutante of the season" back in New York, Calliope wants nothing more than to avoid becoming another pawn in the social game.
Edward Chase, the Earl of Hayward, is on the brink of financial ruin. To save his estate, he must marry, and Calliope Hart is his last hope. When he boldly declares his intentions, she swiftly rejects him, making it clear she has no interest in marrying for convenience. Undeterred, Edward offers a deal: He will escort Calliope to all the best sights of London that she's been dying to see if she agrees to visit his estate and consider what they could accomplish together.
What begins as a business arrangement soon sparks something much more complicated--an undeniable chemistry neither can ignore. But as their hearts begin to soften, both must confront their fears: Can Calliope trust Edward with her heart, and can Edward truly win her love when she's convinced he only wants her fortune?
A no-spice, clean and wholesome historical romance with a delightful mix of witty banter and charming romance set in Edwardian England. Read if you like the marriage of convenience, enemies-to-lovers, and he-falls-first tropes, Alexandra Vasti, Evie Dunmore, Sophie Irwin, and Martha Waters.

I can’t believe this is the first Chelsea Bobulski book I have read! I was hooked from beginning to end and was very sad to finish this book. All characters, even minor and hateful characters like Lord Welsbey kept my interest! As a lover of series romances I would love to see another book in the universe revisiting any of the characters! I loved Mina, Rose, and Daphne. They were great friends to Calliope and their interactions with her and each other showed their own personalities. Although we only heard of Lenore and Charlie off the page I am eager to learn more about them. Tommy! Even though he was the obstacle between Edward and Calliope, I hope he finds love as well.
Speaking of Edward and Calliope - they yearned for each other throughout the book and I couldn’t fault them or get frustrated with them for not knowing how the other felt. I DEVOURED this book and would fervently recommend it to everyone. Although an adult romance - I would recommend to my teen patrons as well since it is a sweet closed door romance. This book did not leave me wanting more regarding the main characters and their storyline, however, I would love to revisit this world if Chelsea Bobulski continues with another character. My only small criticism is the number of times Edward and Calliope noticed each other’s beauty in the sunlight - but even then the banter and the yearning for each other was so great that it did not infringe on my reading and enjoying the book.
This was a sweet and charming read!
I loved the playful banter between Calliope (FMC) and Edward (MMC). The way that they challenged each other had me smiling and kept me flipping pages. Their tension, chemistry and character growth was definitely a highlight for me.
I also really appreciated how the author crafted the story in a way where we get to see their love story develop and grow, nothing felt rushed or forced it was such a natural progression.
I'm hoping that this turns into an interconnected series because I would love to see Calliope's friends find love and experience their backstories as well.
Definitely worth adding this one to your TBR and I'll recommending it as well!
Thank you Chelsea Bobulski , Net Galley and Haven for providing me with an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

In this charming Edwardian romance, I was swept into a story of an American heiress who has been spirited away to London to find a peered husband. The only problem is she has absolutely no interest in the pursuit. Instead, she simply wants to bide her time and return to her life and work in New York City. Unfortunately for Calliope, she has met a most unusual peer in Edward Chase, who in his efforts to save his home, is very upfront with her. This is a charming story of finding a dream -- and maybe leaving space for a dream to change. I enjoyed every page of this sweet, twist on the marriage of convenience trope and am already anticipating the next book by this new-to-me author.

I devoured this in a single day. Truly could not stop turning the pages. The tension of the will-they-won’t-they between American heiress Calliope Hart and the financially struggling Earl Hayward, Lord Edward Chase had me hooked from the start. You just know a marriage of convenience situation is about to get deliciously complicated.
Calliope was such a standout FMC for me. Her feistiness, resilience and refusal to give up what she truly wants is such a breath of fresh air. She felt strong without being unrealistic, vulnerable without being weak. And Edward was the brooding, duty-bound earl who desperately needs a miracle but slowly realises what he actually wants (which was Callie, despite her money that could save him).
What I loved most was how well paced their relationship felt. The romance developed in a way that felt genuine and earned. The longing, the tension, the quiet moments where walls start to crack. It gave me major Downton Abbey vibes with all the class dynamics, reputation stakes and emotional restraint, and I was absolutely here for it. I just wish it was a bit longer so I could devour even more of their story.
To be completely honest, I chose to read this one based on the gorgeous cover alone. Thankfully, this was one of those instances when judging a book by its cover absolutely paid off. The story inside was just as lovely as its exterior. While this one will definitely appeal to fans of marriage of convenience... it's not exactly your typical MOC trope either... and I loved that little twist on one of my favorite tropes! Edward needs a wife to save his estate, and Calliope's mother is trying to marry her off, though she wants nothing to do with it. Let's just say they didn't get off to a great start, but I loved watching their relationship build naturally throughout the story. It was a sweet romance that I couldn't help but enjoy. I also enjoyed meeting many other great side characters... and I look forward to seeing what comes next in the series too! This is definitely one that fans of Edwardian era romance are going to want to add to their TBR.
A Deal with a Debutante is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
