Tea Culture: History, Traditions, Celebrations, Recipes & More by Beverly Dubrin is a very readable and informative book on tea and infusions. Dubrin gives a history of tea along with its mythology. Unlike coffee houses in Europe that seemed to equalize the population, tea, on the other hand, separated the population between the rich and poor. Tea, however, did seem to create a unifying factor in the American colonies as several “tea parties” happened in prerevolutionary America. It was also important enough commodity to trigger the Opium War between Great Britain and China.

Tea Culture also covers the production of tea and the processes that create the different teas — Black, Blue (oolong), Green, Yellow, and White. Along with true teas infusions are are covered including herbal and rooibos. Tea has grown in popular cultures across the world and is second only to water in amount consumed worldwide. Recipes included in the book cover several different cultural varieties of tea preparation. Tea Culture presents a nice introduction to tea in an interesting and readable manner. Recommended for those looking to learn more about a beverage that can be as common as Lipton or as intimidating as wine.

What a lovely little book, it make a very interesting and easy read, which includes the history, traditions, explains the type of teas - what makes them white, blue, black, green or yellow. It includes information on herbal teas, with recipes and finally how to host a tea party with sandwich and small cake recipes. A very comprehensive book on tea. Very well presented, with lots of photos and information which is very interesting even if one is not a tea lover.

I would purchase this book for the illustrations alone. It is one of the most visually pleasing books I've seen lately. Does it have everything you ever wanted to know about tea? No, I don't believe it is all encompassing, however, it certainly contains a lot of interesting information. Beverly Dubrin is passionate about tea, and it shines through her writing. I think this would make a wonderful centerpiece in a gift basket, along with some examples of the teas from the book and a lovely tea cup....

Everything you wanted to know about tea and tisanes, from the history of tea drinking and its sources to the many ways of making and drinking it.
This is a really informative and enjoyable book with beautiful pictures, both historical and recent, and many recipes for making teas and tisanes.

Included with each of the various tisanes is a brief description of the beneficial health qualities (or remedial effects) assigned to them and recipes for making your own.
There are also some lovely recipes for various cakes, scones and sandwiches to enjoy with tea. Wonderful if you want to hold your own High Tea party!

This is a very easy and enjoyable book to read, even if you are not a big fan of tea drinking, however for me, it is a favourite topic and pastime and I thoroughly enjoyed reading and trying out some of the recipes within...as I will continue to do.
This book would make a lovely gift for tea lovers to peruse over a nice "cuppa" of their choice.

Recommended 4★s Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for my copy to read and review.

Well written, clear, full of explanations and pictures and in the end even of recipes, best book about teas I read so far.

Ben scritto, chiaro, pieno di spiegazioni e fotografie e alla fine ci sono anche delle ricette, probabilmente il miglior libro sul té che abbia letto fino a questo momento.

THANKS TO NETGALLEY AND CHARLESBRIDGE FOR THE PREVIEW!
