This is a deeply touching and beautifully written exploration of love, connection and the quiet yet powerful bond between parent (mainly The Father) and a child. With heartfelt tenderness, author captures the universal emotions that come with growing up, drifting apart and realizing how important it is to reach back—to call, to listen and to care.
There is lot to learn from a father but personally I lost that learning midway when I lost him. Every that learning is much more important than any education we got in schools and colleges, about life-lessons. I remember calling him for everything whenever I felt alone and frightened or lack confidence. He was always there with me along with my Mother. No bond, I believe, can ever be as important and valuable as the one between parents and their children.
The poetry is simple yet profound, making each page resonate with honesty and warmth. It reminds readers that family relationships, especially between fathers and their children, evolve but never lose their emotional core. The author’s gentle storytelling and empathetic tone make this book both comforting and thought-provoking. Though, for the illustrations, the hairs of a child are changing from brown to black to reddish, this should have been carefully observed and corrected before publishing.
It’s a rare gem that speaks to readers of all ages—whether you’re a child learning to appreciate your parent, or an adult rediscovering that bond from afar. "Call Your Father" is a must-read—one that lingers in your heart long after the final page, urging you to pick up your life and reconnect, of possible for lucky ones.

It's a relatable and emotional read that is the perfect gift for any father or grandfather. This book is a wonderful reminder of the comfort and triumph found in that special relationship and is sure to become a treasured part of family story time. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful tribute to the love our dads have for us and the special relationship we have at each age and stage of our lives. This is such a loving, heartfelt book that really shows boys how to give and accept love both as a child and as a father one day themselves. It shows girls how important the role of a father is. And how we continue learning from our dads even when we have kids of our own.
This was such a special book. Perfect for Father's Day! I recommend this lovely book for schools and libraries.
"Call Your Father" is a touching picture book for children. Through gentle rhyming words and beautifully simple illustrations, it captures the journey of a boy growing up and the parallel growth of his father alongside him. As the pages turn, the son goes through life's milestones until the story comes to a full circle moment, with the boy now a father himself. It's an emotional and tender reminder of time passing and the familial bonds that shape us through every stage of life.
I would highly recommend this book to read for your young ones.

This book is truly heart-touching! *Call Your Father* is a beautiful tribute to the real heroes in our lives—our fathers. It portrays the cycle of life with such grace, showing how a child turns to his father through different stages and situations. The illustrations are stunning and bring the story to life. I would HIGHLY recommend this book—every parent should get a copy for their child.
First I would like to thank Netgalley and Familius LLC for the advanced reader copy of this book. As a play therapist working with young children I read books for all ages. Call your Father is a sweet story reflecting the unique bond between a father and their children. The book indicates unique situations in which a child may need to call upon their father for support. This is a book I will certainly be adding to my shelves when it is published.

FINALLY a book that celebrates generations of dads! I would say that I enjoyed reading this as an adult and am not certain that young children will understand the story. The illustrations are fantastic and I loved the story. I'd definitely get this for every father in your life.

This is the book every child should give their dad. It’s a look at a child’s life and when they call for their father. When they fall down, when they need a car ride to sleep, when they can’t fix their bike, when they go off to school, the refrain is call your father. This book is almost a tearjerker. We get books like this about Mom’s all the time but you rarely see this type of book for our fathers. It was wonderful. It was amazing and I think my niece is going to need this.

Another wonderful story by Tracy C. Gold with wonderful illustrations by Vivian Mineker! I enjoyed this story as much as I did book 1.
This time in "Call Your Father," we see all the ways—through the ups and the downs of life and everything in between—how cool fathers are, how they're always there for their kids, are someone their kids can rely on.
I loved the rhythmic flow of the couplets, alongside the dialogue from the son, carrying the story along and leaving a lasting impression on the reader. I love the soft, vibrant illustrations showing the close bond between the father and son throughout the pivotal moments, choices, and encounters of the son's life.
"Call Your Father" is a fantastic and memorable read for children, fathers, and father-figures.
Thanks again Familius and NetGalley for the e-ARC to read in exchange for an honest review!
How can a children's book, a book with just 30-some odd pages, make me get teary eyed!? This is absolutely adorable and I would give this to my husband, a new father, so he could read this as well. Now that I have a son who is 16 months, this story really hit me in the feels. I could easily imagine my husband reading this to our son. I can also picture our son growing up, getting older, and one day moving out on his own and starting his own family. 5/5 stars!

This beautifully illustrated book is a tender journey through the lifelong bond between father and child. Its gentle rhymes and heartfelt message perfectly capture a father's unwavering love and support. A touching gift that will surely be cherished.
Call Your Father is a heartfelt look at the bond between a father and child. The story is written in verse, and each beautifully illustrated page captures a moment when the child experiences something and wants to call Dad to share it. Those early calls about being scared at night or falling off a bike gradually shift into bigger moments like moving out and heading to college.
My favorite part comes later when the child is grown and about to become a father himself. He calls his father and asks how he knew how to be a great dad. The answer is simple and perfect… he called HIS father. It is such a warm, full-circle moment.
This book will resonate with so many readers. Kids can learn that they can talk to their dads about anything, and adults who are becoming fathers themselves will feel the emotional weight of that connection. The sentiment on the back of the book says “You are never too old to need your father.” I love that and this story brings that truth to life beautifully.
Thank you @netgalley and @familiusbooks for the ARC, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Thank you Netgalley and Familius for this advanced copy of Call Your Father. Wow, this was so heartwarming and unexpectedly emotional. What a beautiful gift to give to a new dad to read with their new baby. Something to cherish forever. The artwork was also simple and clean. I love how well rounded and full circle the whole story was.

A poignant companion to Gold and Mineker’s previous collaboration, Call Your Mother, this book is a perfect gift for father figures of all kinds. We follow the protagonist from the time he is a little baby rolling on the rug, babbling “Ba ba ba! Da da da!” through the challenges of growing up, from skinned knees to speaking up for classmates, and on into the college years and ultimately becoming a father himself. At every stage, the refrain is the same: “Call your father”…and he always shows up. Gold’s moving text, accompanied by Mineker’s colorful illustrations, shows how the details of Dad’s support might change over the years, but his caring presence remains constant.
