Description

This is a 2,700‑word short story that’ll hit just right if you’re into: ROMANCE. MAGIC. BAD DECISIONS.

Tar City chews people up and spits them out.

Sometimes, it swallows.

But Jax?

He owns it. The bar. The streets. The magic he swore he’d never use again.

Until tonight.

Because tonight, Sisk isn’t playing fair.

She walks into his bar—later than promised—and he’s more than furious.

He’s hungry.

And when she dares him…

he remembers why she’s the reason he stays.

The reason he breaks the rules.

Read it slow. Let it stain your fingers like spilled whiskey.

And remember—Tar City doesn’t give without taking.

This is a 2,700‑word short story that’ll hit just right if you’re into: ROMANCE. MAGIC. BAD DECISIONS.

Thanks, @NetGalley and the author for the advanced listen/read!

Wow, this is a short story that managed to pack a punch and get me intrigued, wanting for more.
We get snippets of Jax, the Bartender and Sisk, the Ballerina. He's a bartender with magical powers and she's the ballerina that keeps him in Tar City. He would have left it or destroyed it if not for her.

We only get to see them in one specific moment, when she arrives at his bar later he is expecting her to. And we get a very spicy and tension-filled encounter.

I really hope the author turns this into a full book. I am quite intrigued by the world of Tar City.

With only a couple of pages, Blair M Shadows shows you a glimpse into the world of Tar City and tells you the story of a bartender desperate for a ballerina who can’t be tamed. The only good thing about this city is her and for that reason alone he will never leave.

This is meant to be nothing more than a taste of the author’s writing to see if there is enough interest for a full length novel and I say YES! The writing was beautiful - almost poetic, even. There is mystery and intrigue with a touch of magic surrounding the town and its characters , it left me dying to know more. The story was over before I was ready to put the book down and now I want to check out what else the author has written.

The Bartender’s Ballerina by Blair M. Shadows was a quick, paced dark and spicy romance that demanded my attention. Jason Clarke’s deep, growly voice captured broody, dominant bar owner, Jax as he gave his full attention and self to his mysterious ballerina. This book is quick and sexy!

This is short but gets right to the point! There’s plenty of mystery about who these characters are if the author wanted to flesh it out further. This is Explict Open Door. I liked the language the author used, nothing euphemistic or immature! For me personally I need the story to be a bit longer to get what I’m looking for out of it.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC. This was one of those short stories where I am begging for more. I wanted to deep dive into the characters histories and their relationship as their short scene had me engaged the whole time . It was such a passionate short story and I enjoyed the sharp writing style. Will definitely be reading more from this author. A great short read!

Simple, short, spicy.
As someone who is usually not a smut lover, this was done super well. You are fed just enough information to want to know more. It is also not OVERLY vulgar. Even in the few brief pages this is, I ended up highlighting a couple things. Love a pathetic yearning man.

This was a very quick, fun read. I thought it was a really interesting setup for a future book, there were so many intriguing details in this short story that I would love to see expanded upon. I thought the narrator fit the mmc perfectly!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC and eALC.

More please.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley. I always try to do a thoughtful review with genuine opinions and feedback. If I get an audiobook, I try to have feedback regarding the narrator. But this book. The only thing rolling around in my brain is…more please.

Please turn this into a full book. Please expand. I liked the touch of magic. I loved the vibe of possible dystopia. More please.

Thank you NetGalley for the listen (and read). Loved it. And I’d like more please.

Oh this should 100% be a full book! That taste was delicious and I want more! I was panting by the end.

I want to know more, more about the magic, more about Tar City. More everything!

Quick but satisfying 😋

The Bartender's Ballerina is a short story about love, obsession, and magic—set in a mysterious city. It’s dark, spicy, and captivating. The writing is rich, and the steamy moments are impressively well done for such a brief read. Despite being only 20 pages long, it never feels rushed or forced. Thankfully, the world-building is concise and woven naturally into the story.

I’d love to see this expanded into a full-length novel someday!

I would love to read this as a full book. I was surprised that I got so into it, and I truly want to learn more about Tar city. I think it is a true testament to get a reader interested off of so little! The atmosphere was well depicted and I could imagine it easily. It had the feeling of Gotham from batman. I liked his almost grumpy personality, but his almost obsession for her.

🎧 Audio and Ebook Review 📚

Narrated by Jason Clarke

I needed a little pallette cleanser and this was the ticket. It was short, spicy, mysterious and with Jason Clarkes voice in my ears, was just marvellous 👌

I need more of this, I do hope in the future the author will consider making this a full length novel as I'm definitely intrigued by both characters and the story itself.

The writing was very good, for a 30min audio and 20 page book it sucks you in right from the first line. I really enjoyed this ❤️

Short read, its only like 25ish pages. I enjoyed it but i do wish it was longer. I would have liked to see more of Jax and Sisk’s relationship. I also liked the magic aspect.
