Wow this is another good one. Though I don't know about Vietnamese words and how to pronounce it (even after I read this one) still it's an entertaining read. As an added bonus is the artwork and the glossary the helps you brief explain the ABC and the culture of Vietnam.

Am I a baby or Vietnamese? No. But I am! learning Vietnamese and a fan of cute pictures, so I shall pretend to be the target audience anyway.

This book is very cute, especially the illustrations! I like how it features kids of various ethnicities, and also that it not only teaches the alphabet but also shares knowledge about Vietnamese culture and traditions through its examples, further completed by the glossary at the end where various terms are translated and explained. (I especially like that the audience isn't assumed to must know a certain thing, such as grasshoppers or fireworks, but instead, an explanation is given even for the more "obvious" words.)

This is fantastic and unique and has wonderful, bright, cute illustrations. It's a fun way to introduce kids to an Asian language. I do wish there would have been a pronunciation guide, although that might not be practical.

This was such a cool look at an alphabet book for bilingual children. I expected a simplistic book written for English speaking learners to experience singular words in Vietnamese. Instead, the Letter, sound, and examples were written phonetically with an English translation below. A parent who does not understand Vietnamese can practice reading the phonemes, and/or use technology to play the audio.

I really liked learning these simple phrases as someone who does not speak Vietnamese. I highly recommend this book for schools and libraries.

I am a Vietnamese American adult who was born in the U.S. I look up “[subject] for kids” when trying to learn something complicated and new. I’ve been meaning to relearn Viet again, so I was excited to see this book available for request.

I like the title, A to Y! It sticks out, since English speakers are so used to seeing A to Z. I think seeing ABCs on the main cover felt a little dissonant though, because A to Z is a play on A to Z but ABCs work for both languages.

The illustrations are super cute and I appreciate that there were diverse representation in the kids and honestly asian fruit!! Not many people know what a cherimoya or starfruit is, and that’s so sad.

I was confused with the first line of each page, and why the letter was repeated about 5 times. I’m assuming it’s for the kid to practice sounding out the letter. Maybe this overcomplicates things for a children’s book, but I wonder if it is important to briefly go over the tonal symbols, since the vowels will sound different depending on the symbol.

Overall it’s a good book! The illustrations are cute and eye-catching. It not only shares the Vietnamese language, but Vietnamese culture as well, which is SO important.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read in exchange for an honest review.

This is a darling little book that introduces readers to Vietnamese through delightful illustrations. I appreciate how there is a QR code to scan for pronunciation. A fun book to add to a child's library.

This is such a cute and amazing picture book. A perfect way to introduce your kiddos to the Vietnamese language. I love the gorgeous illustrations and the details included in this book. This is a great book for parents to teach their kids Vietnamese (Due to the lack of pronunciation guide this is probably most helpful for those who are already Vietnamese speakers)

At last an attempt at an A-Z that covers all 29 letters. Of course, this has to end where the alphabet ends, with Y. And of course it's the Vietnamese alphabet, with its three types of A, three Os and the rest. And for an Anglophone it's a weird beast – many entries aren't starting with, and merely feature, the letter concerned. The entries to me befuddled, with letters getting two diacritics at once (hence, I assume, the QR code to get pronunciation help), but also looked like fun tongue-twisters at times – it's most odd that someone selling something on the seashore is such a test in Vietnamese as is an equivalent in English.

To the person being brought up bilingual this will be great fun. The animal characters do cute things, such as pick flowers, or print lucky money envelopes for New Year, and the fruit chosen for this is only going to be part of their culture growing up. Some of the phrases for each letter are just lists of things, but the entries to the list are definitely infant-friendly, and the translation here is presented clearly for young eyes getting used to reading in both languages. I would perhaps be persuaded to give five stars if every phrase was a nice sentence and not a collection of three, verb-less things, but considering this is an A-Y this isn't really that easy to rate for someone to whom Vietnamese is so alien. I can only see successes from having a copy of this, though – four and a half stars.

This book was crafted with such cutness! It was informative and helpful to learn the Vietnamese alphabet. The illustrations were also great and reflected things that would be rememberable while learning the letters. My favourite was the deer and tiger.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of From A to Y - Vietnamese ABC by Amy Dang!

This is such a cute and engaging bilingual alphabet book. Each page introduces letters with colorful and charming illustrations, along with words and sentences in both Vietnamese and English, perfect for kids learning either language. I especially loved the glossary at the end.

A fun and educational read for children aged 4–8 and a lovely way to explore Vietnamese culture and language! 🇻🇳📚✨

From A to Y- Vietnamese ABC by Amy Dang

This is a really nice book to learn some Vietnamese words. I like it has a link to an audio to help with pronunciation.
The pictures in the book are cute and relate to the sentences in the book.
This book is for older children as unless it is read with an adult or older child I don't think they would be able to follow.
I am a strong believer in children learning all languages even just a little and they say the younger they are the more they can grasp it.
This book has a glossary in the back with some basic words and definitions.
I recommend this book for a school library or family library.

Even though I couldn't pronounce any of the Vietnamese words in this book, it was still very interesting to read through. The illustrations were cute. The glossary at the end was neat and culturally educational. Thank you to Little Ears | Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), Members' Titles and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
