John and Rissa are working together on their first assignment for Stone Consulting. John thinks he has to prove himself to the owner, his newly discovered half-brother. And Rissa has been the receptionist since an op went bad and her partner was killed. I love how they worked together to help each other through the hard parts. Was a little disappointed that I didn't get an epilogue for them.

LOVED this book! A great plot that focuses on John, a former marine with a prosthetic leg, and Rissa, a former FBI agent with a loss of confidence. The story on its own was great - a well done blend of suspense and romance - but what really sets it apart is the way the author was able to weave in a likely struggle a disabled vet might face and its impact on his life.

This is a fast paced mystery that has John and Rissa investigating missing women that were kidnapped and forced into sexual slavery. While they investigate, John and Rissa must also face their attraction to each other and overcoming their own weaknesses. This one will keep you engaged and turning pages just as quickly as possible.

The final Family Stone book. I missed the last two books in the series, but the main story was easy to follow. Half-brother John and Rissa, who appeared in previous books, find romance on a mission to find two missing girls. Overall a quick, suspenseful read with some steamy scenes.

I did not read the first 6 books in this series, but I will do so now. Why? This book, which I see concludes the series, stood alone well, but the secondary characters were so vivid that I wanted to know all their stories. Cold as Stone's hero and hero are vibrant and multi layered. It was easy to connect to them emotionally. I think that one of the things I appreciated about Lisa Hughey's writing was the sharp, witty dialogue and the banter of family members. I would love to have these people as friends/neighbors. I'm looking forward to my time with the rest of this well crafted, character driven series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. I was shocked to find out that it has six predecessors! I was never confused throughout, but I had the intense urge to go all the way back to book one to find out all I'd missed. It's actually a book that I would re-read.

P.S. Thanks to NetGalley for the copy in exchange for my review.
