Description
The Spell of King Rygard stripped evil from every heart. Monsters vanished, crime ceased, and wars became the stuff of legend.
Then the Spell shattered.
Darkness has returned in every form imaginable. The world now faces creatures born of shadow, men drunk on power, and whispers of a forgotten king clawing his way back into the world.
Amid the chaos, one unlikely group refuses to stand by - The Last Troupe, a traveling circus of performers and misfits. They brought joy to towns across Navea, but now their stage has become a battlefield.
The Last Troupe is a sweeping tale about courage, finding your family, and dealing with a world turned upside down.

The Last Troupe for me was one of those rare novels that sneaks up on you, quietly at first, then hits you all at once, until you’re fully absorbed in its world. Ben Faulk delivers a story that is atmospheric, suspenseful, and unexpectedly heartfelt.
The book follows the remnants of a travelling performance troupe navigating a world that has grown harsh and unpredictable. What elevates the story is how deeply human it feels, every character carries scars, hopes, and secrets, and Faulk takes the time to let each of them breathe. The dynamic between the members of the troupe together loyal, fractured, stubbornly hopeful for me gave the book emotional weight that lingered long after i finish.
Faulk’s writing felt vivid without being overwrought. He has a talent for describing desolate landscapes and small, intimate moments with equal precision. There’s a slow burn tension woven through the narrative, and even when the pace is gentle, you can feel something larger building beneath the surface.
What impressed me most was the balance between bleakness and beauty. Despite the ruined world they inhabit, the characters fight hard to preserve art, connection, and meaning all things that feel especially resonant. The ending was both satisfying and haunting, the kind that left me quiet for a few minutes before I could pick up another book.
If you enjoy character driven speculative fiction with strong emotional undercurrents, The Last Troupe is absolutely worth your time. It’s thoughtful, immersive, and beautifully written a story that stays with you.
