Luke can be a sweet guy, “I want you. I’m not hiding that. But you had a rough day. You need to rest and relax and heal. And once you’re all better, then you can come into my bed any time you want, day or night.” Luke knows what to say to get his girl going, “we have time. Make a list and I’ll let you do whatever you want to my body.” Her eyes darkened with desire and his ***k was rock hard. “Evelyn?” he asked." I really loved this book the men are always sexy in this series.

If you are considering reading Testing the Boss, you might to stop…back up…and start with Book 1 of this series. Seriously, folks, though Book 6 was a great stand-alone, there are enough hints of past drama/events that I find myself wanting to know all the secondary characters full stories/HEAs.

Based on the titles, I have to admit I thought this series would be heavy on the sensual and light on substance. I’m happy to report, if Testing the Boss is any indication, I was definitely wrong. Yes, there are plenty of steamy scenes between FBI agent Evelyn Price and CEO Luke Devereaux. After all, he is a man who always gets what he wants. Surprisingly, even to himself, what he really wants is tough as nails Evelyn. It didn’t take long for their open hostility towards one another to be revealed as undeniable attraction. With our handsome hero taking the lead, Eve didn’t stand a chance against this handsome, alpha protective billionaire, who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and bloody in order to protect her and others he cares about.

Eve, who after being shot while on duty in Texas, was transferred to New York to wrap up a case that obviously began in a previous book. She ends up working as a pretend intern, next door to Luke’s office, waiting for criminal contact to ensue so she can apprehend the bad guys and get back to her life in Texas. With everyone but Luke kept in the dark, there is quite a bit of suspense, betrayal, and duking it out with the bad guys drama while the storyline unfolds. I loved how Eve at one point tied up Luke to keep him out of harm’s way, only to have him break loose and get right back into the thick of things. Ultimately, Luke’s interference and wealth of resources ended up being a big help in dealing with the case.

So, my fellow romance book-loving friends, I end with a high recommendation you check out this series. The author’s writing style certainly agreed with me. Thank you, Ms. Crowe, for giving us a strong, feisty heroine who met her match in our handsome “not afraid to take matters into his own hands” hero. Well done, well done indeed.

This is a wonderful series, I can't wait to see what comes next. Luke and Evelyn make such a strong couple. Problem sometimes is they have trouble relying on each other to take lead.

a good solid story. I liked the plot.

I really enjoyed this story. I am not a big fan of mafia type books and I am a fan of this series and have read most of the stories in this series. I missed the previous book because it seemed heavy mafia but I decided to read this one because I like Luke and Evelyn characters when they were introduced in other books.

Does this book stand alone...YES

Do you have to read all the books in the series...NO

But you will understand how things got to where they are if you read the book series. The first few books have nothing to do with the Mafia, just as an FYI.

Now onto this story, Evelyn is an FBI agent, Luke is the business owner the mafia is trying to work with. Most of the book is a more hate turning to love/lust storyline and I loved that.

Then there is the meet with the mafia and things get crazy after that and thats where the mafia storyline comes into play. Whose the good guys? whose the bad guys? I am not spoiling.

A fun and enjoyable read and a really great series.

I received this book from Rock Star Lit in exchange for an honest review.

This book was fantastic! Mallory Crowd's writing style is phenomenal. The story has bit of a mystery suspense plot. But includes lot of steamy scenes between Evelyn and Luke.

Evelyn is a strong FBI agent and Luke the rich boss she's to protect. They have very hot chemistry throughout the story. I loved the couple that they made.

It ends with a ending that has you wondering what next is going to happen!! Can't wait to read more by Mallory Crowe.

Each book in this series has become better and better and I like how the stories are linking more. There is now a common thread tying the last few books together and I specifically liked how this took over from where the last book left off but with Luke's POV.

I'm not going to say too much about the book as I don't want to give anything away. Testing the Boss was a short read, but it kept me engaged with its action and steamy sections. Luke was easy to like and Evelyn was interesting. I would have liked more background information on her, but I believed in their relationship. I did feel the chemistry between them and I'm intrigued to see where the author takes the story next.

Overall another interesting read. It was the perfect length for an evening and it's one of my favourite in the series.

This book was full of suspense, steamy scenes, off the charts chemistry and a fantastic role reversal. Instead of the tough alpha guy being the protector, it was a bad-ass female FBI agent keeping Luke safe and kicking ass.

My Thoughts This is a stand alone in the Billionaires in the City series, and while it can mostly be read by itself there were so many things happening and backstories weaved into the story that I think I would have benefited from reading the others first. I enjoyed the fast pace of the story and the banter through out the book. It was also refreshing that Luke was not an alpha billionaire that demanded everything and got pissy when he didn't get his way. He may have stacked the deck to get his way but he wasn't overly pushy and my way or the highway as so many are today.

This is the story of Luke Devereaux, a billionaire mixed up with white collar criminals and Evelyn Price, the tough FBI agent tasked with protecting/helping bring them down. They start the book fighting all the time and hating each other, which of course leads to smoking chemistry down the line. I didn't really understand why they hated each other from this book, but maybe it was better explained in the previous book.

Things moved pretty quickly for the case and the duo's slow burn of a relationship. Once they realized their attraction it was hard to ignore. So much so that Evelyn was distracted from her job and tried to step back to focus on the case. There was angst and drama and suspense right up until the very last page that kept you wanting to know what would happen next. That made this book a fun quick read.

Testing the Boss by Mallory Crowe is the next one of Mallory Crowe’s series, Billionaires in the City (#6). The book is about Luke Devereaux. He is focused on taking down the organization that continues to bilk people out of money. The organization needs to be stopped and is threatening his family!

Luke Devereaux needs help. Help comes in the form of Evelyn Price from the FBI. She is focused on the case and trying to protect Luke. Only then the target becomes Evelyn and suddenly everything looks differently.

Testing the Boss by Mallory Crowe is a good addition to the series of contemporary romances. Mallory Crowe is an author who knows how to add heat and sizzle to a romance. The twists and turns and the double crosses take this book to a ‘can’t wait to read it’ level.

TESTING THE BOSS is the sixth installment in Mallory Crowe’s contemporary, adult BILLIONAIRES IN THE CITY romantic, suspense series. This is CEO billionaire Luke Devereaux, and FBI agent Evelyn Price’s storyline. Although TESTING THE BOSS can be read as a stand alone I would recommend reading the series in order as the threats and plots against the family continue to build throughout each storyline. Each of the storylines is interconnected with the characters crossing over between installments.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Luke and Evelyn) TESTING THE BOSS is a revealing storyline that begins to expose the people behind the threats against the Devereaux family. The group known as the Thirteen Stars, a white-collar criminal ring, has been trying to get Luke Devereaux on their side. With the assistance of the FBI, and the undercover presence of Evelyn Price, Luke tries to ferret out information about the high powered businesses and the people involved. What ensues is the collapse of the undercover operation and several attempts on Luke and Evelyn’s lives as someone is always one step ahead of Luke and Evelyn’s plans. Evelyn has her suspicions; Luke is oblivious but hints at a possible suspect; this reader was spot on with the guilty party(s) involved.

The initial relationship between Luke and Evelyn is caustic and bitter, but the sexual tension runs high throughout the story. Evelyn is an FBI agent who wants nothing to do with privileged rich boys with too much time on their hands who want to play cops and robbers. Already recovering from a gunshot wound, Evelyn finds herself in New York ‘babysitting’ Luke Devereaux while he tries to infiltrate the Thirteen Stars. Luke, on the other hand, takes an immediate liking to the acerbic FBI agent, and tries to break through Evelyn’s barriers and walled heart. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, although our heroine believes she has crossed the line between her job and her heart.

The secondary characters include several of the previous storyline couples and characters: Emma Devareaux and Jace Lance: Michael Devereaux and Lori Briggs; and Luke’s assistant Cali who keeps her finger on the pulse of everything in Luke’s personal and business life.

The world building continues to focus on the threats against the Devereaux family and their billion dollar enterprise DevX that provides cyber protection software to some of the largest defense contractors in the USA. The group known as the Thirteen Stars continues to pursue the Devereaux family and with Luke’s storyline some of the missing information as to the who, what and why is slowly revealed. This particular ARC of the series began in book four (Trusting the Boss). TESTING THE BOSS ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.

Mallory Crowe’s BILLIONAIRES IN THE CITY is a series focusing on white-collar crime, intrigue and high stakes revenge. There are moments of mystery and suspense, wrapped in a building romance between two people whose lives have crossed paths time and again. The premise is entertaining, and full of twist and turns with plenty of drama, betrayal and emotion; the characters are likeable and well developed- strong willed and independent thinkers; the romance is a build up to a profession of love. Mallory Crowe’s BILLIONAIRES IN THE CITY is a high stakes, who-dun-it, where revenge is the ultimate sin.

Testing the Boss is another gread addition the Billionaires in the City series. In it we get to see Evelyn Price and Luke Deveraux fall hard.

Evelyn wants to wrap up her current case, find out who the bad guys are and get them sent away and be on her way out of the City. She's willing to do just about anything to get the job done, even if it means sucking it up and working closer with Luke Deveraux.

Luke holds his own animosity towards Evelyn, but it's not necessarily a hatred. They don't get along, that's for sure, but now that she's putting a closer cinch on their working relationship, things are changing.

Testing the Boss, like previous books, draws you back into the running storyline, a touch of suspense, and wondering what information will come next. Evelyn is a wonderful character, determined to catch her man so to speak and move on to another job. Luke wants more than anything to move past the working relationship with the FBI and guarantee his family's future safety. The banter between Evelyn and Luke builds throughout the book and as it does, it easy to see cracks in the shileds both Evelyn and Luke use to shield themselves from the other.

Testing the boss is funny, thrilling, and will leave you feeling swoony a time or two. The characters and the running plot build on from previous books, pulling you even further into the story and feeling more for the characters as you learn more about them and the situations they are in. Luke and Evelyn work really well together even to their chagrine and it was fun to watch as their thoughts and feelings about each other changed throughout the story. The book starts with an idea forming, and you think immediately to yourself, this is either going to end very well or its going to blow up in everyone's faces; thankfully this time, it worked out for Evelyn and Luke.

As always Mallory doesn't disappoint

This is a series that really should be read in order, as the suspense is over arching and the characters interconnected. Testing the Boss is actually book 6, so you've got some catching up to do, but it's worth it. Mallory Crowe is an excellent writer. I think that what I appreciate most about her books is the balance she strikes between action/suspense and passion/romance; no one aspect overshadows another. Couple that with some of the deepest character profiles out there, and you have a really entertaining, edge of your seat read. Ms. Crowe writes with passion and the love scenes are well placed and actually serve to move the story along.

This is book 6 in the Billionaires in the City series. In this book the FBI is still after the Thirteen Stars. As things get more dangerous for Luke and Evelyn they are forced to spend more time together and that's when they turn up the heat in the bedroom. There are plenty of twists and turns in this story but the last plot twist will leave you with your mouth hanging open. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next book in this fantastic series from this amazing author. Loved it!!!
