Flynn the fly gets an invitation to watch a rocket launch at Cape Canaveral, Florida. Flynn gets lost and ends up in a submarine. Captain Coral allows Flynn to go with her since she’s heading there too. Under the water Flynn sees all kinds of creatures at a coral reef. Then they head to a mangrove forest where they see glowing jellyfish, sea horses and a whale. They go deeper where it’s dark and see giant squid that ends up inking the windows and trapping them because it’s scared. After the giant squid frees them they end up on the ocean floor where it’s darker and where creatures that don’t need sunlight are. They ride the warm current back to the surface and end up at Cape Canaveral. Flynn made it in time to see the rocket take off.

The story teaches children the different kinds of creatures under the ocean and the different areas of the ocean they live in and why. At the end of the book is an undersea glossary of the creatures and places that were introduced in the book and explains them. The story also teaches children that sometimes a wrong turn can take them where they’re meant to be and they can learn things along the way.

Thank you NetGalley
