Description

Discover infinite blessings every day. This picture book based on singer-songwriter Seph Schlueter’s viral song “Counting My Blessings” invites children to find joy, gratitude, and God’s gifts in each moment.

God gives us miracles, gifts big and small.

So many in fact, we just can’t count them all.

One, two, three …

up to infinity!

God’s gifts are everywhere—from the smallest kindness to the vastness of the stars. Follow along as a young boy learns to look for the good in every moment. When he feels down, he discovers that blessings can be found in unexpected places: a stray cat in need of a home, the warmth of his mother’s hug, the thrill of a new friendship, and the comfort of community. From the endless wildflowers in a field to the countless waves in the sea, he begins to understand that God’s love is as infinite as the stars in the sky.

This delightful story gently introduces children ages 4-8 to themes of gratitude, faith, and praise to God. With lyrical, rhyming text and stunning illustrations that bring the boy’s world to life (complete with his fun-loving cat!), Counting My Blessings is perfect for:

This book was absolutely beautiful. 🤍

I received an ARC through NetGalley, and this ended up being such a special book to read with my kids. They absolutely loved it, but what I loved even more was the conversation and reflection that came from reading it together.

The message is so simple, yet so important…..God’s blessings are everywhere when we slow down long enough to notice them.

I loved how the story reminds children that blessings aren’t only the big, exciting things we pray for. They’re found in family, friendship, kindness, nature, comfort, and all of those little everyday moments we can so easily overlook. It gave me such a sweet opportunity to remind my kids just how incredibly blessed we are and to talk together about the blessings they can recognize in their own lives.

I also really appreciated how beautifully the message of gratitude and God’s love was woven throughout the story. It felt warm, encouraging, age appropriate, and rooted in faith without becoming complicated for little ones to understand.

The illustrations were beautiful, the rhyming made it fun to read aloud, and the entire book just felt like a warm hug. 🥹

This is the kind of children’s book I love having in our home because it isn’t just entertaining them. It is planting a little seed in their hearts to look for God’s goodness, practice gratitude, and remember that even on difficult days, there are still blessings worth counting.

Such a beautiful reminder for my children and, honestly, for me too.

Five stars from our whole family. 🤍🙏🏼✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Counting My Blessings came into my hands at exactly the right time. I was feeling a little down, and this beautiful book picked me right back up.

The story reminds readers to look for God’s blessings everywhere because they truly are everywhere—both big and small, surrounding us in more ways than we could ever count, all the way to infinity. The message that our blessings come from God is uplifting and reassuring without ever feeling heavy-handed. The writing includes lovely rhyming and lyrical passages that make it especially enjoyable to read aloud.

The illustrations are outstanding. They are vibrant, joyful, and filled with people and delightful details that bring the message to life.

Although this is a children’s book, its message spoke meaningfully to me as a 68-year-old adult who needed a lifting reminder. I highly recommend it for children and families, as well as adults who may need encouragement to pause, look around, and remember the countless blessings God has placed in their lives.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an advance reader copy. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and unbiased.

There are some picture books that feel less like stories and more like gentle prayers whispered across the pages, and Counting My Blessings is one of them. From the very first rhyme, it wraps you in a calm, steady warmth — the kind that reminds both children and grown‑ups that God’s love is not only present, but overflowing in every corner of our days.

The story follows a young boy learning to look for goodness in the ordinary: the hush of wildflowers, the shimmer of waves, the kindness of a new friend, the soft comfort of a mother’s hug. Each moment becomes a reminder that blessings aren’t rare or fragile — they’re abundant, infinite, stitched into the world with care. And as he discovers this truth, the reader feels it too. It’s a quiet, beautiful way to show children that gratitude isn’t about counting perfectly… it’s about noticing lovingly.

The illustrations are wonderfully done — full of gentle color, soft textures, and a sense of wonder that mirrors the message. The boy’s fun‑loving cat adds a sweet thread of playfulness, making each page feel alive and welcoming. And the writing itself is lyrical, soothing, and beautifully crafted, making it a perfect read‑aloud for bedtime, morning snuggles, or those moments when a child needs reassurance that they are held, loved, and never alone.

As a family who treasures stories that speak to the heart, this book feels like a blessing — a calm, faith‑filled way to share God’s love with little ones and to remind ourselves, too, that joy is always waiting to be found. It’s a treasure we’ll return to again and again.

This is a beautifully illustrated book based on the author’s highly popular contemporary Christian song by the same name. The rhyming is great and weaves in the song to the storyline well. Children will love the dynamic pictures that invite them into the story.
