I purchased 2 of these books for my twin granddaugters who are 8 and are puppy crazy. I wanted something that would be more on their reading level without the hugh font size typical of most younger childrens' books. This book has a wonder story about a puppy that gets separated from the other puppies and all about her struggles in being able to finally find a "furever" home. The writing is "spot on" with the girls able to read without difficulty but found both of them discovering new vocabulary words. I especially liked the script with which the story is written as it lends a more mature aspect for the age level targeted. The art work is absolutely beautiful and flows from page to page with the continuing story. Most importantly this story is based on a true story and the author Sandra Bolan and her husband are heavily involved with animal rescue organizations, I highly recommend this book.
