Very sweet story. A little farfetched, but at least it waa consistently over the top so it seemed reasonable. Would definitely recommend it and any that follow. (Did have one of my biggest pet peeves which is the misspelling of whoa as woah. Three times. Surprised spellchecker didn't catch it.)

Real rating: 3.5 While the story was interesting and the writing was good, I found the characters somewhat predictable. It could've been better. I still recommend it though. It's a nice read.

This was cute, if not a bit overly dramatic, but I guess when you're dealing with Hollywood, things tend to be dramatic. The main girl, Gia, was a bit of an airhead and really did have the worst ideas ever. I'm scared for her going to college. The bodyguard, Jack, was a little too into himself, but overall, wasn't a bad guy. I was kind of surprised the focus went off him toward the middle of the book until I realized this should be classified as Young Adult, so guess what that means: LOVE TRIANGLE. Ah, yes. I don't like these. Also, the ending sets itself up for another book, which I may or may not read.

While being a cute and fast read, if you don't like overly dramatic characters or events, you probably won't like this. If you don't mind them, pick it up whenever it's available.

This book kept my interest. It was a perfect light read for me.

I loved this! It's like a 1950s screwball comedy complete with poisoned dumplings and a couple of charismatic lead characters. I would have preferred a more defined ending - but a sequel could be fun.

Cute little romantic contemporary, which is great for a quick read. Definitely perfect for the setting!

This book was hilarious! I'm obsessed with the characters (especially the main character, Gia!) and I need a sequel asap!! This is such a fun read and I actually laughed out loud a few times! Seriously, if you are looking for a fantastic book with some crazy characters this book is for you!

In some parts of the book it was funny and then in other parts of the book it read like a mystery, it was a little mixture of both. Mystery and suspense with humor thrown into it. Gia the main character I felt was very childish for her age, but then again she was a spoiled rich kid and spoiled rich kids tend to act very childish. Oh her bodyguard was so into himself, and acted like a little teenybopper himself, how he got the job of being a bodyguard for anyone is beyond me. It wasn't a bad book really, I.mean if you like mystery and suspense with a little bit of humor thrown into the storyline then this is the book for you. Good writing and the editing was a bit off in some spots but nothing major.

Synopsis: Gia is a very rich girl who lives with her father and brother in a mansion that has 6 floors and even an elevator in place. When she gets back from a shopping spree one day her father informs his children that he has decided that they’ll each get a fulltime bodyguard. It’s true that once upon a time her father was a famous actor but that was some 20 years ago and you can safely say he’s not as famous anymore. He claims he his reasons, however, and the decision is not open for reconsideration. When she meets her bodyguard Jack she’s swept of her feet because he is one hot piece of man candy. He’s not making it easy for her, simply by always being around. She doesn’t really see the point in having somebody guarding her until she receives weird text messages and calls. Someone is keeping an eye on her and the texts are signed with Dr. D. When an attack pointed at her goes awry and someone else becomes a victim she is more than determined to find out who’s behind it. With the help of Jack and police cadet Milo she tries to uncover who is responsible for all the stalking, scaring and tormenting. With the Golden Globes just around the corner and with Gia who just scored the role of Miss Golden Globe at the event, the danger rises that she might not even make it to the end of the ceremony at all. It seems she’s not so lucky after all.
Opinion: The level of craziness in this chicklit is quite high. Gia’s character is hilarious and made me smile a lot. When she’s nervous she starts speaking British and even when she’s not, she has the habit of blabbering and spitting out the most ridiculous and far-fetched excuses and explanations. The best part is that she always gets away with it too. The focus of the story for me was not so much on the mystery but more on the tension between Gia and her love interests and the wild goose-chase that she undertakes with Jack, which leads them from the Dumpling Hospital (a restaurant with a décor of a hospital I kid you not) where she finds important evidence of someone’s unhealthy focus on her, to a student fraternity and the Coco Club where she has to sneak into with a fake ID, all the while wearing the most unfashionable outfits for some reason or other. The story was certainly entertaining, I liked Gia’s character, she was gutsy and funny and I loved the banter between her and Jack. The motive for the stalking was a bit outdated if I might say but don’t be mistaken, it did have a good dose of action towards the end that was quite enjoyable.
The only thing I had a bit of a problem with was that she’s instantly feeling electricity the moment she meets Jack when he touches her but when she sees Milo, her focus shifts with the bat of an eye and it’s suddenly all Milo she wants, yet I still felt the attraction to Jack too. Sweet, reliable Jack who puts up with all of her theatrics, he deserves a trophy on his own. No given the choice, I’d know who I would choose.

High School senior Gia Winters seems to have everything a girl could want, a hot boyfriend, a killer wardrobe, and – thanks to her famous parents – she's first in line to be the next next Miss Golden Globe. Most would consider her to be pretty lucky, if it only weren't for a pesky stalker and an even more annoying bodyguard. Or scratch that, because the bodyguard isn't all that annoying after all (even though Gia would rather be seen in last season's Louboutins than admit that).

In Lucky Me classic screwball comedy meets Hollywood Glitterati, and the result is one of the funniest books I've read in a long time. If you are looking for a light read, and enjoy campy drama (think White Girl Problems, or Celebutantes), then Lucky Me won't disappoint. Yes, the main characters, Gia and bodyguard Jack, come across as a little immature at times, but for me that only added to the charm. They don't take themselves too seriously, which makes for a great contrast to the otherwise rather grim subject of a dangerous stalker, who likes to get creative with his methods (poisoned dumplings, anyone?).

Good book, I did feel that it lacked some maturity in certain situations but overall interesting storyline and a good variation of characters.

Great book for teens. I feel sometimes young adult or teen literature can been full of sex, drugs and language. This book did not have those elements making it easier to recommend to early teens.

For the most part, I thought this was a fun book. There were several laugh out loud moments and some shaking my head moments. I mean this was an 18 year old who had everything, so there were some whiny parts, but fortunately someone in the conversation for the most part told her to snap out of it.

I would say I was entertained and enjoyed the book. The actual kidnapping was kind of a farce. And the leading up to it could have been shortened. As all the hype wasn't worth it. But all in all it was enjoyable and I do look forward to reading more and I would definitely be on Team Jack.

Definitely a YA, but could appeal to some adults.

3.5 stars! This book was very dramatic and I was worried it was going to be a DNF. However, it surprised me. It was an engaging comedy and I enjoyed the characters, especially Gia as the main character.

This was a cute and fast paced book, if not a tad over dramatic at times. The author did a good job of weaving a story that was interesting and enjoyable with likable characters, humor and romance.

I loved the cover. I often pick a book only based on the picture on the cover and it's almost always a winner. In the case it was true once again. The title may me a bit sarcastic but there is truth in it as well.
Although it may be listed as a Young Adult book, it can certainly please the not so young adults aka me. :). It was a story full of fun mixed with some mystery and some romance. There was one action in the book that I thought was not handeled well in the investigation. Apart from that it was a fun read. One question was still unanswered but maybe that can be solved in a next book? I truely hope so because I would love to read more about Gia.
Apart from a few typos and some missing words or in some cases, too many words, the book only leaves a positive impression.
I enjoyed the book and I would recommend it. 4 stars.

Nice quick read, young adult chick flick. Wasn't sure if I liked the main character so much. Quite whiny at some points however it also made me laugh. Won't be something I'll read again, but is a nice time waster!

This book is about an extremely spoiled famous teenage girl, a stalker who uses voice-altering software to leave really bad, and only vaguely threatening messages, and a hilariously cynical bodyguard. That is my brilliant summary.

I decided to read this book because I've been really diving into fantasy, dystopian and sci-fi YA novels this year, and felt like I was due for a little break. I picked up this book because it was hailed as similar to Sophie Kinsella, and I was in the mood for some light reading. Although the subject is rather serious, the content is absolutely not. In fact, I haven't laughed out loud this much at a book since the Stephanie Plum novels.

Gia, the main character, has such a "clumsy diva" personality. She acts very immature throughout the book, but she didn't annoy me -- I sort of pitied her, because I think she really didn't know any better through the entire story. The amount of times that I murmured, "Oh no, Gia..." or "Oh dear Lord..." while laughing and shaking my head was absolutely phenomenal. She's spoiled, she's a complete brat, but she tries so hard at being the person that others perceive her to be that it's endearing.

This is a book to read when you want to laugh. It's so real on a personality level, and at the same time, it's completely ridiculous because Gia is rich and has equally rich friends, and she's so used to having everything handed to her, and everyone bend to her every whim. This is the strength of the book, and what I choose to discuss in this review. It's not a page-turning mystery (it's all a little bit too coincidental for my tastes), it's barely got a drop of suspense, but it's still a great book and I'm glad I had the chance to pick it up.

I would like to thank Amberjack Publishing, as well as Netgalley, for the free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Okay so let's just start out with the obvious - I gave it 4 stars and it is 4 stars if this is the kind of story you like. If things like Pretty Little Liars are your thing, then you'll probably like this. For people who don't like that kind of story, I'd say this isn't for you.

Gia, the main character, is the daughter of celebrities. Her mom lives in NYC while she and her brother live in Los Angeles with their dad. As an 18 year old senior in high school her biggest dramas should be will she or won't she go to college and if so which one? Instead Gia, her brother, and her father will all have body guards with them everywhere they go -- including school. A threatening message led her dad to hire them.

Torn between all of the cute boys (her boyfriend, her bodyguard, and the cop handling her case) Gia finds it tougher and tougher to just get through the day. And that was before the Golden Globes called...

This is one of those fast fun reads that you can't take too seriously, despite the serious stalker theme. It is a complete story (yay!), but ends in such a way that leads me to believe a sequel may be in the works. If there is, I'd probably read it if I stumbled upon it but I wouldn't go out of my way to look for it.

* Disclaimer: I received this book at no cost in order to review it. I offered no guarantee of a positive review, though I only request books I think I'll like because why read a book you think you’ll hate?

“Lucky Me” by Saba Kapur is a fun light hearted read. This story is about Gia, who just happens to live a very lucky lifestyle. Gia is very funny. Kapur definitely gave Gia some great witty banter lines. The hardest part for me was that even though Gia was a fun character to read, all the other characters were very flat. There wasn’t really anyone interesting in the book besides Gia.

I was really hoping for a novel that kept me entertained from beginning to end and “Lucky Me” just did not do it for me. Instead I found myself bored and feeling like the book was dragging on with its many pages. I think Kapur has a lot of potential, so I am looking forward to her next novel.

A little more juvenile than I expected, but that's acceptable for a 19 y/o debut author! Definitely entertaining, especially for the younger crowd.

ia is the daughter of an actor and former Playboy bunny turned actress. Her life is pretty close to perfect until her dad receives an unknown threat. As a result, he hires bodyguards for the whole family. Enter Jack, Gia's gorgeous bodyguard. When it becomes obvious Gia is becoming stalked by an anynomous Dr. D, Jack & Gia try to figure who Dr. D is and why he's after Gia.

Lucky Me is a fun read. It has a little mystery, a little drama, and a lot of humor. I literally laughed so hard I was crying at points. Even though Gia was a the spoiled daughter of Hollywood elite, she was still relatable. She had some hilariously awkward moments. As much as I liked the book, I wasn't impressed with the ending. I'm sure it is setting the reader up for subsequent books in the series. Still, overall, I found this book hilarious and enjoyable. It kept me interested, invested in the characters, and eager to find out what happens next.

My Rating: 4.5 stars

“I’ll be the first to admit, I am quite possibly the last person anyone would ever choose to go on a secret mission with. I mean, if by some miracle I managed to get into the CIA, I’d just be that one person who can’t be trusted with guns or top-secret weapons. Hell, I’d barely be trusted with a stapler. But due to the evident lack of James Bond-ish men in my life to take my place, I was forced to pursue Dr. D’s phone call alone. Well, not entirely alone, I had Jack and Milo after all. “

Gia’s father announces one afternoon that they are all getting bodyguards. Her and her brother are confused and don’t understand why they are need, nor will their father tell them why. Instead they each get assigned a bodyguard who will be with them almost all the time, including going to school with them (yes the bodyguards were thrilled about having to go back to school). But one day Gia receives a text from an unknown number, and then starts getting calls from someone she names Dr. D who tries to scare/torments her. As she get the police involved and starts doing investigating of her own things start to get dangerous. Things don’t start getting worrying though when no one seems to have any idea who it could be, why the person is doing it, and what is so important about a certain date that he keeps mentioning. Sadly Gia didn’t have much free time to investigate more because she was busy practicing to be Miss Golden Globe, and still trying to do her school work. All while her love life is crazy. She has a crush on her bodyguard, but then someone else comes into the picture and she likes him even more. This causes even more drama in her life especially because these two guys don’t really seem to care for each other or get along much at all.
Everything comes together though on one important night, and we find out who it is, and why they did it.
Overall I loved this book. Gia was hilarious and acted pretty normal despite having celebrity parents and living in Hollywood. Most of the time she didn’t act snobbish except to one mean girl character who was extremely unlikable.
I loved Jack and Gia’s friendship after Gia stopped being so awkward around him (even though it was pretty funny to read). They made a pretty good team. Besides the fact that Jack kept all of his life private and we don’t learn things about him to the end of the book, but that was understandable as he was her bodyguard.

If you want a fun, hilarious mystery book then please consider reading this one. I can’t wait to see what Kapur writes next.

At first I thought this was going to be a typical, girly book following a rich girl and her various crushes. I was pleasantly surprised and found myself not wanting to put it down!

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. This book is about a daughter of a well known two well known movie stars that seems to have everything her heart desires until she starts to receive threatening messages from a stalker. Her dad hires a bodyguard to help protect her and things in her life slowly start to fall apart. Overall, I really enjoyed this book, even though parts were very predictable. I thought Gia's character was very likeable and relatable, despite the fact that she was extremely well off being the daughter of movie stars. If you liked prett Pretty Little Liars, you'll be a fan of this book, except that it's not as dark as Pretty Little Liars.
