ALL IN
By Simona Ahrnstedt

Trust is the most precious commodity of all.

In the cutthroat world of Sweden’s financial elite, no one knows that better than corporate raider David Hammar. Ruthless. Notorious. Unstoppable. He’s out to hijack the ultimate prize, Investum. After years of planning, all the players are in place; he needs just one member of the aristocratic owning family on his side—Natalia De la Grip.

Elegant, brilliant, driven to succeed in a man’s world, Natalia is curious about David’s unexpected invitation to lunch. Everyone knows that he is rich, dangerous, unethical; she soon discovers he is also deeply scarred.

The attraction between these two is impossible, but the long Swedish nights unfold an affair that will bring to light shocking secrets, forever alter a family, and force both Natalia and David to confront their innermost fears and desires.

THE BEAUTY OF THE END
By Debbie Howells

“I was fourteen when I fell in love with a goddess…”

So begins the testimony of Noah Calaway, an ex-lawyer with a sideline in armchair criminal psychology. Now living an aimless life in an inherited cottage in the English countryside, Noah is haunted by the memory of the beguiling young woman who left him at the altar sixteen years earlier. Then one day he receives a troubling phone call. April, the woman he once loved, lies in a coma, the victim of an apparent overdose—and the lead suspect in the brutal murder of her stepfather. Deep in his bones, Noah believes that April is innocent. Then again, he also believed they would spend the rest of their lives together.

While Noah searches for evidence that will clear April’s name, a teenager named Ella begins to sift through the secrets of her own painful family history. The same age as April was when Noah first met her, Ella harbors a revelation that could be the key to solving the murder. As the two stories converge, there are shocking consequences when at last, the truth emerges.

Or so everyone believes…

Set in a borderland where the past casts its shadow on the present, with a time-shifting narrative that will mesmerize and surprise, The Beauty of the End is both a masterpiece of suspense and a powerful rumination on lost love.

Howells leads us down a winding path to the truth, where each character reveals just enough of his or her secrets to drive suspense skyward and keep readers from guessing who was really responsible for Rosie’s death until the strangely satisfying truth is revealed.”

Featured Reviews

Hard to judge them when I have only read the first chapters of both books, but they seem to be both interesting. All In was intriguing because I'm Swedish and I found it interesting to read a Swedish book, well a chapter translator into English. The beauty of the end had that kind if beginning when you want and need to continue reading because you want to know more.

All In was exceptionally captivating. I was totally enthralled by the end of the first chapter and I have to know how this one plays out!

The Beauty of the End by Debbie Howells reached right out of my Kindle and snatched me up. I greedily turned the pages, wanting more of the story, but not wanting the sneak peek to end. Well-written and pulled me in to the story.

Both 1st chapter previews were excellent and I can't wait to read both of the books.

I received an invitation to read the first chapters of 2 new books being released in 2016, in exchange for a short review.

The first is from author Simona Ahrnstedt, titled All In. This is my first encounter with Ahrnstedt 's work, and while a chapter is hardly enough time to feel connected to a story, I can say this book has started out with a bang! With a lead male sharing traits reminiscent of Christian Grey and the lead female sounding like Lucky Santangelo, (from the Jackie Collins series) this has all the right ingredients for a sizzling read.

The second book I was able to get a sneak-peek into was from author Debbie Howells, titled The Beauty of the End . I had the pleasure of reviewing Howells debut novel The Bones of You which I loved.
Her latest novel once again shows great promise with a storyline that already has me wanting to know more! An ex-attorney with a lost love from his past has surfaced in the most intriguing way...I can see that his quiet life as he knows it now is about to take a drastic turn. This is definitely going yo be a must read this summer!

Both books sound interesting and worth picking up. I'm a fan of Debbie Howell's after reading "The Bones of You," so it wouldn't take much to convince me to read her next book, but the first chapter of "The Beauty of the End" sounded like she's picked up right where she's left off, with another suspenseful tale that will have me up all night turning the pages. I'm looking forward to hearing more about Noah, his past with April, and how they may become ensnared in each others' lives again.

As for Ahrnstedt's book, she's new to my world, but her first chapter was interesting, and the character of David already had me intrigued. Definitely seems worth checking out.

Note - didn't post a review of these on my blog yet, since this was only a chapter, but will do so for the entire books, should I receive an advanced copy of one or both. Also will mention the interesting first chapters on goodreads. Thanks!

I am so glad I had the chance to read the first chapter of two upcoming books. Since this was just a preview, I based my rating on how interesting the characters are, do I care about them, and am I intrigued enough to want to read more. The answer is a resounding “Yes” to all of these questions.

I had not heard of the book, “All In” or Swedish author Simona Ahrnstedt, so I was not sure what to expect from this preview, but I was hooked! Based on the first chapter, the book appears to have the complexity expected from a Scandinavian novel, combined with the juicy plot and readability of a Sidney Sheldon epic. I think I may added a new author to my “must read” list. I can’t wait for the release of this book!

I was familiar with author Debbie Howells and enjoyed her prior best-seller, “The Bones of You”. The first chapter of “The Beauty of the End” displays the same beautiful, lyrical writing. I was sometimes confused, but definitely intrigued by the preview of this book. “The Bones of You” was layered and mysterious and since this is just the first chapter of Howell’s new book, not all the pieces are presented yet, so I’m not surprised I was left with a few questions after completing the chapter. I am definitely eager to read the whole book.

After reading the two previews, I am looking forward to reading both of these books when they are available next summer. I think it’s going to be a long winter.

I downloaded these two excerpts after reading the bit of blurb provided by the publishers - I loved them - have added both to my wish list and can't wait to see where the stories go. Really looking forward to these.
