Description
Since man first walked the earth, the Angels of Moirai have watched over them. Born human, they are taught never to feel, never to become attached, and never to become emotionally compromised.
Eighteen-year-old Lila Kingston is haunted by dreams of a mysterious angel. Suddenly the dramas of her broken family and the snobby rich kids at her school fail in comparison to the challenges she must face.
Hailing from the Angels of Moirai, James Taylor has been entrusted with the fate of lives from around the world for over a thousand years. His sole purpose is to ensure every mortal follows their designated path, but when Lila puts that very purpose at risk, he must make a choice—a choice that ultimately leads to the devastating consequences of a love never meant to exist.
The choice was never easy. Those kind of choices never are…

ARC kindly provided by Victory Editing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Review Ok, so I was PRETTY STOKED about getting to read ‘Angles of Moirai’! (Hey! Don't point fingers at my slang! I'm proud to be an Aussie *winks*) I came across it one happy, book-starved day on Netgalley and the cover looked absolutely ENCHANTING! It was so enchanting in fact that I just HAD TO zoom in and then look for a better quality image of the cover so I could just stare at it and then LATER scrutinise every little single bit on it (aka the feathers) and figure out what everything is! I'd also like to clear something up: the Angels of Moirai are MYTHOLOGICAL not BIBLICAL! Their existence stems from the Greek and Roman myths and the Three Fates. This was BOUND to make the novel more interesting! Call me a traditionalist and old-fashioned, but when I opened up the .mobi file and looked through I opening pages (I know strange right?) I saw that the author, Nicole Salmond, had included TABLE OF CONTENTS! I got pretty excited... (I know – weird.) You don't see a table of contents very often in novels these days but I miss seeing them very much. (I admit now: I'm a tiny, itty-bit eccentric...) I loved the author’s style: intriguing, sophisticated, compelling and beautiful. It had that posh school and mystery lingering in the atmosphere which reminded me a lot of Lauren Kate's ‘Fallen’ series and Becca Fitzpatrick's ‘Hush Hush’ series. The style was also a tiny cliché. There was a bad-boy angel and the good-girl human. The novel becomes awesome from the get-go. The author was able to grip my interest and make me read on through a series of flashbacks that left me questioning and curious. I would wonder who exactly this Lila character was and would learn so much about her in a short time. It let me connect with her and forge that funny reader-character bond that made me admire her character, personality and attitude. I loved that the author made the transition from the REAL world as we know it to the FANTASTICAL world a smooth one when Lila learns about the Angels of Moirai from James. Sooooo many fantasy novels often make an abrupt change from one world to the other world for their main characters. I SERIOUSLY dislike this; it is the reason why I rarely give a five star to fantasy novels with angels. But Nicole Salmond has made this novel just right for me. Ok, so there were SLIGHTLY cheesy moments that made this novel seem a bit like Twilight with Bella and Edward: “I am angel, Lila. An angel who has spent over a thousand years watching from a distance what love can do to a man and a woman, a true form of life itself. I was at peace with what I did, my role that I play in this world. I was never to experience the emotions of a human again after my death; we are not designed that way. The moment I saw you in the forest that day… it was like everything I had ever known to be true, suddenly changed, and I began to question everything. I tried endlessly to stay away, to keep my distance, but the more I stayed away, the more I wanted… I needed to be near you. I don’t know what will happen next, but I won’t deny my feelings for you any longer.” At times the novel was bittersweet; very sad, too. It was a LOVELY romance story with that hint of fantasy and paranormalcy that made it A GREAT READ. ‘Angels of Moirai’ was also pretty short; I read it in under 3 hours. It had GREAT PROSE and EXCELLENT GRAMMAR; no spelling mistakes but a few typos. Even though I rates this novel a four star, there really is NOTHING that I hated or disliked about it. I did wish, however, that it could have been better and I felt like the complication of the novel was slightly weak. I also didn't see much I James’ ‘Angel’ world and there really is not as much action in the novel as you would expect. The story was really VERY romantic and concentrated mainly on Lila and James. I, however, DO believe that some more action or drama could have spiced the novel up. The ending and the resolution of the novel was VERY satisfying but also a bit confusing for me: it seemed to drag on a bit. JUST when you thought that the novel ended – and in an awesomely epic way too – it then continued on to the next chapter and brought a bit more drama with it. I did wonder what the point of it was. Congratulations to Nicole Salmond on an EXCELLENT beginning to a series! Rating Plan 1 star : Strongly did not like the book, writing and plot was bad. Idea of the book was against my liking. 2 star : Didn't like it, didn't find it interesting or gripping. Seemed to drag on to me. 3 star : An average book. Wasn't bad or good. Everything else was well done. Original idea. 4 star : Like a 3 star but has potential to it as a series or the book grew on me as it progressed and certain scenes captured me. I Enjoyed it and read it in one sitting. 5 star : I LOVED IT! I stayed up late until 3 am. Author is a genius, characters, plot, idea, development, EVERYTHING was EXCELLENT. Nothing else can possibly be said except that its 5 STAR! Rating Plan 1 star : Strongly did not like the book, writing and plot was bad. So I absolutely loved reading this book. it is one of those that once you pick it up you just cant stop until you find out how it ends. I love reading about angels so imagine my excitement when I started the book. The book touched soo much on how even though there is a pre planned destiny there are soo many ways to get there and there are so many variables or ways that could easily change. I enjoyed reading and learning about the Moirai greek mythology. I cant wait to see what book 2 has in store. Can you let m know how soon i can get my hand on it. a full review will be up on my blog in the new year. feel free to visit my blog. https://theangelspearl.wordpress.com/ |

*The publisher provided this book in exchange for an honest review through NetGalley.* Eighteen-year-old Lila has been rejected by her parents and is currently dreaming about a mysterious angel. She is shocked when she arrives to school one day and sees that angel standing in the parking lot. James Taylor is an Angel of Moirar, he has been taught never to feel and only obey the Creator's ordeers, while assuring the fate of lives from around the world during over a thousand years. His only purpose is to assure that mortals follow their destiny. What he wasn't counting on was to fall in love with Lila, a mortal. What will they do when their love wasn't supposed to happen? This book has some problems in the begginning, despite the fact that the story has an enormous potencial it feels like it advances too quickly and there are some connective scenes missing. I love stories about love at first sight but this happenned way too quickly! I'm not saying that the characthers are not interesting, because they are. Lila's familiar dynamic is all but normal and her mind is quite interesting, as it is discovering who James is and his story. I loved them and all the side characthers that make this story so beautiful. The writing was ok, it had some repetitions where they weren't necessary but it wasn't anything very bad. The descriptions and the ambiance where very interesting and captivating. I have to congratulate the author on her ability to mix several beliefs and create the Angels of Moirai! Taking everything into account this book was good and the story too even though it had it's flaws so I'm planning on giving the next book a chance, I hope it will be better and I'm very curious to see what comes next for these two lovers. This is a good book to all YA fans who like books about angels and love! Give it a try because the story is very good and interesting! http://thebewitchedreader.blogspot.pt/2015/12/review-angels-of-moirai-angels-of.html |

Lila is a normal girl with a complicated life, her parents travel around the world and think that the material things are the most important, so they have filled the empty spaces in her life with things, Lila tries to live a normal life with all the responsibilities that she has with her sister, she doesn't care about being popular, is more of low profile person, so when a strange event change all and makes her see things that she think doesn't exist, she prefers to no share with anyone till the protagonist of that event appears in the school as a new classmate Lila thinks that all is a coincidence, but as the days pass more weird things continue to happen, and then she realized that it's not only destiny, with James the new boy all is more simple for Lila, so they start a friendship, but Lila knows that behind the friendship is something more so she asks to James for the true and the connection of him with the past event in her life James seems to be a normal boy, but in reality he isn't even a human, he's an angel, at the beginning he doesn't even know for what reason Lila can see him, or why the demons are trying to attract her, he only knows that he is capable of everything in exchange for the possibility to spend more time with her and save her of that attacks, so they start to spend more time together and know each other, and they start to feel more sentiments for the other, but Lila knows that the relationship between them can't be eternal and easy, so when James realizes what is the reason for Lily to see him and for what Lila can have that relationship with him all of this is in danger, because Lila takes a decision that can separate them forever without nothing he can do about it The end of the book leaves you with more expectation for the second part, Nicole writes books that are impossible to stop reading when you start, i think that i really want a little bit more in the end but i understand that is because the book has a continuation, there are a lot of things to resolve in the next books that i hope end with Lila happy. |

**I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review** 3 ½ stars Life for 18 year old Lila Kingston has been far from happy…while her family may have a lot of money, it certainly hasn’t bought happiness for her or her little sister Hayley. Raised by maids and nannies, the sisters have always know they may not have their parents around very often, they would always have each other. At the prestigious top school of Eden College, Lila is constantly harassed by the “popular kids”, but she is satisfied with just getting through high school and go to a local college to stay near her sister while she finishes school. However, when Lila’s success-driven parents insist that she fit into the mold they want her in, she rebels and pushes her parents even further away. And when Lila begins having weird yet wonderfully haunting dreams of a beautiful angel whom she is vaguely able to communicate with, she begins thinking she is crazy – that is until he walks into her class, as real as the nose on her face. With the strange and sudden appearance of James – the angel/ boy from Lila’s dreams – she is unexpectedly drawn to him. And bizarre things start happening to Lila now that James has mysteriously emerged from her dreams to her real life – like seeing beautiful lights that no one else can see, sudden bouts of lightening out of the blue, and finding out that not only are angels real, but so are demons. And when James reveals himself to Lila and they begin developing feelings for each other, the two must keep their love a secret – or face the consequences that knowing the future can hold. While James and Lila’s world continues to be flipped upside down, the demons are clandestinely showing up to destroy them and everything they care for…their forbidden love included. Let me start by saying that sci-fi and ya are two of my favorite combinations. Add in a good forbidden love for good measure, and it’s should add up to the right number. Unfortunately, this story – while enjoyable – fell flat in some areas for me. The dialog and conversations were a little stale and at times difficult to follow. I adored the story of James and Lila, but never felt like there was a “why” with regards to their connection or even why James came into Lila’s life. I loved the cliffhanger ending – while they infuriate me, they also tend to peak my interest into the next book in the series. |

Overall, a very entertaining read. We are instantly introduced to Lila and her horrible family situation, and we almost immediately feel empathetic towards her. However, as the story goes on, we lose that touch with her. She becomes almost self-absorbed and we, as readers, lose that connection with Lila. For a large part of the book. it is all about James. I wished there would have been more answers on what their effect on each other was. It seems like such an integral part of their relationship that keeps being scurried about in the book. Finally, the finale was good. I wish it had ended right at the action, however. The last few sentences almost give the reader time to gather their thoughts, whereas finishing a paragraph earlier would have left the reader dumbfounded. |
