I really enjoyed this book, I had been so looking forward to it and it didn't disappoint.

Its a warm, uplifting romance that captures both the beauty of Oxford and the difficulties of finding love later on in life! The romance developed naturally and felt believable rather than rushed.
I really liked Clare and found her to be a very relatable character as she tried to balance responsibility with her own happiness. Im looking forward to the next book to see what happens next in Claras new life and to catch up with everyone else!

This book was fabulous and has made me now want to visit Oxford and go punting!

This was such a lovely read. I enjoyed this so much that I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. I can't recommend it enough. I look forward to reading more by the author.

First of all, the cover is breathtaking! And the novel is the same; an incredible read. It follows Clara. a late middle age reverend who has never found love. In walks Tom, a member of the choir, who is handsome and friendly and is interested in Clara. Sparks fly. But Tom is hiding a big secret from his past. Will Clara find out and can she still see a future with him?
This novel was very well written and the setting is perfectly set in historic Oxford. The romance was wholesome and the side characters were a hoot.
I was excited to learn that this is Book#1 in a three book series. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

This is a gentle book about finding love later in life. Clara is the reverend at a college in Oxford, Tom sings in the senior choir. Attracted to each other they start dating, but then both have secrets that could ruin their budding relationship.
This is a book that I did find difficult to get into due to the slow pace of the story, but this is part of its charm, although others might find it too slow. I had a mental image of Clara being similar in character to the Vicar of Dibley, although not physically. Tom is a debonair character, but with personal demons. The setting in Oxford is a place that I only know from TV programs, but this did help me to visualise the setting. It is one of those stories that had you hoping that they can find happiness with each other, but the outcome is never certain.

reading this book reminds me of what i miss about books like this. one which doesn't need to either race to the bottom or race to damage,break, shatter our hearts. which seems to be a bit to prevalent even with romances at the moment. like we need to yearn and feel angst to such a degree it hurts even in romance. this book took us right book. right back to those books with soft by now cover and that certain smell to the pages. and that is no bad thing. not bad at all. i thoroughly enjoyed my time with this book. it took me away from the hotter than the sun world and into the smooth and flowing world of this story and its characters.
and dont get me wrong it wasn't without its very human dilemmas and ups and downs. but they felt real, mature and not too much on the heart that you need a break just to go on or are genuinely hurt by what the characters are going through. and it actually made me care for these characters more.
we get to know Clara and her wonderful sermons and Tom. when Clara gives one particular sermon to her congregation its spurs Tom on to take that and run with it. and this means asking Clara to be his happy. and they do for each other. and we get to follow them on this.
but for both they have things they will need to confront if this can go any further. Tom has his past and Clara has her what if opportunity for the future. their growing relationship feels grounded and true and i warmed to both of them in their own right and then very much together too.
this was a thoughtful, gentle and loving read. that really was so full of love and possibly promise for two people who didn't think or expect it could happen for them now.
i was very protective of this pair and wanted them to be ok, and yes wanted them to be ok together. im not good at thinking romances in books might be just for a while like can happen in life. i genuinely need my happy ever afters right now.

A delightful gentle, slightly old fashioned romance. Set in the city of Oxford around University chaplain Clara and chorister Tom, who find each other in their latter years. No real dramas just life and it's inevitable problems flow by making an easy read to switch off with meandering around Oxford.

A gentle romance about a couple finding connection and love in middle age. Both Clara and Tom are likeable characters and I enjoyed following their story as they achieved their happy ever after. Tom has a dark secret which he fears could destroy their relationship, and Clara has big decisions to make in her career as well as her personal life. Secrets Among the Spires by Fiona Radcliffe is an enchanting and heartwarming romance novel which successfully illustrates how people get a second chance and find love in places where they never thought they would. The author does an excellent job introducing her readers to Clara and Tom – two very likable protagonists whose growing affection for each other seems very sincere and natural. Being set in the beautiful city of Oxford, this is a truly wonderful and hopeful book.

This is such a gentle read, set in Oxford in glorious countryside. Relationships are forged through the church and an unexpected promotion almost leads the Rev Clara to leave her beloved Oxford for Cambridge. It is a charming story, very enjoyable.
