Gorgeous, vivid artwork with a vintage feel to it. My kids love comics so I knew this would be a great way to get them excited about reading the Bible. I received an arc copy and immediately my kids jumped into it and couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to get a physical copy for our bookshelf.
Thank you for the arc, NetGalley!

I love the Picture Bible! The stories and verses are accurate and the pictures and visuals helped me understand the stories. I also found it hard to put down! I kept wanting to read the comics and before I knew it, I had read almost half! Definitely a must read!
I was given an ARC from the author - all thoughts are my own!
This is an amazing version. The artwork is stunning and it’s very easy to read for a young person. I would recommend starting at age 6 and up into teens into adulthood. It reads like a graphic novel or comic book. It’s very easy to engage in each story.
I really liked this. I am a visual girly, so this was the perfect tool for me. It’s doesn’t go into full detail, a Bible is still needed, but it’s good enough to understand. I love this art style especially because it reminds me of the super hero comics. This isn’t the full Bible, I imagine there will be more part of it coming soon.
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this e-ARC.
Whoo-hoo! (Advance copy) wishes do come true! I was so excited to see this available for review, particularly after reviewing the New Testament edition. Some of my favorite parts to read as a child included the overview of the Minor Prophets. Even though they're only spread across a few pages, the main message of each book is made clear in addition to the historical events of each time. I still love the way that the Scriptures themselves are interspersed throughout the narration as well as into the speech of different Biblical figures. I also still like the inclusion of whole parts of certain Biblical stories, such as Samson's...adventures, let's call them with his wife pre-Delilah, as well as the merry-go-round of kings in Israel and Judah before captivity. Looking back as an adult, some accounts have still left out information. The book shows clearly that David sinned with Bathsheba, for example, and shows Nathan's condemnation of David exclusively, but still dances around some details (To be fair, this isn't a criticism of this publication. That's particular story is one of the most difficult to portray in children's Bibles and needs to be handled with a lot of sensitivity.) The designs are as detailed as I remember, although there seems to be a slight tonal adjustment in terms of color; they seem brighter somehow.
Much of my commentary would echo my review here on NetGalley of the aforementioned New Testament volume (including the fact that most everyone here presents as very European, which is not accurate) so I won't resubmit them. I still hold that there are a lot of opportunities for those who grew up with this Bible to share it with the kids in their life, talking about the stories and presentation, while also keeping newer, also Biblically-sound editions available that are more diverse. Although I appreciate the trivia in this new edition, the design style is such a big contrast from the original comic panels. I would have liked for the comics to be presented as close to the original as possible, just for propriety's sake. Nonetheless I would still purchase both of these volumes for my collection, as well as for some of the older young ones in my life.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, David C. Cook, for this DRC in exchange for a fair and honest review. The thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own.
