A good start to a series. I am not usually a fan, but the length and story seems like a good way to get the groundwork set up. I have liked other books by this author, and this did not disappoint. Of course now I have to wait for the next one in the series, but I think it will be worth the wait. Highly recommend if you like Amish stories, and prodigal son stories.

The English Son is the first book in The Amish Millionaire series. I really enjoyed this book. It is a quick read and I had it read in no time. There is quite a cliffhanger at the end and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Great book!
5 stars.

As we open this book we meet a young man that has just purchased his dream car, and spent $250,000 for it, he must be wealthy, right? So much joy he is experiencing, and you fell happy for him, I could just picture him riding around in his Corvette, but this is the beginning of a big spiral, he was hedging his fortunes, which brings to mind a lot of fallen people whom have done this.
Joel is in a relationship with a sweet Mennonite girl, in fact he is engaged to her, but as her mom reminds Kristie, that you should not be unequally yoked, but like most young people she is sure she can change him.
Joel is hiding a deep secret, besides being in debt, he is running away from his family, and I was surprised, but again his name kind of gave him away. Don’t be quick to judge, how will his family accept him when he comes to visit, and why is he there.
The book does end in a cliffhanger, and I was ready to keep reading, so it won’t be long before I have the next book on my shelf. This is a very quick read, and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Shiloh Run Press, and was not required to give a positive review.

Wanda Brunstetter and Jean Brunstetter are back at it again with, The English Son, which is book one of a six part series.

Wanda and Jean invite us to go with them to Holmes County, Ohio. Here they introduce us to Joel Byler, an young business man raised in the Amish community and has now been living in the English world for seven years. It is during this period he meets and falls in love with an English girl, Kristi, whom he plans to marry.

When Joel gets in over his head financially, Kristi worries for their relationship and wonders why Joel is unwilling to share his concerns with her. Joel, however, does his best to reassure Kristi that everything is fine and she has no need to worry.

Joel decides to go home, back to his old Amish community, to ask his father for help. Though he knew that is would be a difficult thing to do, he thought his father might be able to offer some advice. The last thing he expected, was to have a conversation with his father, that would change and mend their estranged relationship.

If this is the first book all I can say is...WOW! I cannot wait until the rest of the books in this series are released. I hope to see more writings form this wonderful writing duo.

I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley from my honest review which I have given.

Wanda & Jean Brunstetter create a new, exciting series, The Amish Millionaire. The English Son is the first book in this six part series.

The series title alone, brought a question of an Amish person being a millionaire? Most books do not put the emphasis on the wealth of an Amish person, so I was surprised to see this. How does an Amish person become a millionaire? Then the title of the book, The English Son, brought even more questions to mind. We know that some Amish do leave and become English, but why would an Amish son leave the comfort of being the son of a millionaire? These questions are answered in this, the first book of the series. How does the English son fit into the family now? Will his English life bring him all the joy and happiness in life that he anticipated?

Don’t miss this new series! I highly recommend this to anyone who loves reading Amish genre books. I read this straight through and was disappointed when it ended, because I wanted to find out what would happen next. I look forward to the release of book 2 of this series.

When Wanda E. Brunstetter came out with her The Discovery – A Lancaster County Saga, I was excited because I thought it would be neat to get a book, although shorter, from one of my favorite authors frequently instead of waiting for her next full length book to come out. I was just as excited about this new series, The Amish Millionaire.

Before I go into my full review of this book I want to address a concern I saw many readers have with the past series–the cost. While I can agree that the cost of all the books in the series may seem a little pricy compared to purchasing one book, I’m not going to factor that into my review of this book or the entire series.

The English Son is about a former Amish man who is full of himself and needs money. He only visits his Amish family when he needs something and he is about to go back home for a visit.

This book was a quick read and one I enjoyed. The story ends on a cliff hanger and it reminds me of a TV series.

I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series and finding out what happens next.

The English Son by Wanda E. Brunstetter and Jean Brunstetter is the first book in The Amish Millionaire series. Joel Byler has just put himself in a financial bind by buying the car of his dreams. It is a 1967 Corvette Stingray (he paid $250,000). Now, though, Joel (a contractor) needs to come up with the money needed to pay his subcontractors for their latest work. Joel has a joint account with his fiancé, Kristi Palmer. They are saving up money for their wedding and a home (he lives in a trailer). They agreed never to take money out of the account without discussing it with the other person. Joel does not want to tell Kristi about the car (and is hiding it at his workshop). Joel decides to take the money from the account, but it will not pay all of his subcontractors. Joel decides to go home and ask his father for the additional money. Joel left his family seven years ago. Joel was raised in Berlin, Ohio in an Amish family. He was never satisfied with that life (always wanted what he did not have). Joel’s father, Eustace is still grieving the death of his wife. He misses his son and wants to help him, but he does not think that money is the answer. Kristi is worried about Joel. She can tell that something is wrong, but he refuses to talk to her. What is going to happen to Joel?

The English Son is well-written and enjoyable to read (I read it straight through). I did not want the book to end (I wanted more). The English Son ends with a cliffhanger and we have to wait for The Stubborn Father to find out what happens next. I give The English Son 5 out of 5 stars. I have only given you a brief overview of the book (there are other family members who have their own lives and issues). I am impatient for the next book in The Amish Millionaire series.

I received a complimentary copy of The English Son from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Mom took hold of Kristi's left hand.
"I don't see a diamond sparkling back at me."
"He hasn't bought me an engagement ring yet, but I'm sure I'll be wearing one soon." Deep wrinkles formed across Mom's forehead. Her blue eyes, mirroring Kristi's, had lost their sparkle.
"I'm sure you're aware of what the Bible says about being unequally yoked with unbelievers."

Joel Byler has proposed marriage to Kristi Palmer, but he hasn't given her an engagement ring yet or set a date for the wedding. He works as a contractor and employs many subcontractors to work for him. After receiving payment on a large job, he bids $250,000 on a 1967 Corvette Stingray convertible and now he can't pay his employees, buy an engagement ring, or even pay his own household bills. He plans to hide the car from Kristi and that's not the only secret he's keeping from her. Whenever she asks about his family, he clams up. But when he gets himself in this huge financial bind, he plans to run to his Amish millionaire father for a loan. But his dad decides it's time to practice tough love with Joel. What will happen? How will he pay his debts? If or when will he open up to Kristi and be honest? This is a quick, fast-paced, exciting novella that is part 1 or 6 parts in The Amish Millionaire. The story ends on a real cliffhanger and left me checking to see how soon part 2 will be published. I actually love novellas as they can be read in one sitting and create a great deal of tension to see what will take place next. Wanda and Jean Brunstetter definitely started this set with a bang! I rated this novella 5 stars and am looking forward to reading parts 2-6. I received a print copy of this novella from the author and a pdf version from netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

Heart warming story of families hoping to bring back the unity of the past. Will they reunite before it is too late? Can't wait for book two to continue the story.

What a great start to a very promising six part story. Joel is a very determined young man. He has visions of making lots of money and marring Kristi. He has asked her to marry him, but he has not bought her an engagement ring yet. I wonder why he hasn't put a ring on her finger? Could it be the very expensive and unnecessary car he bought? He becomes very careless with his money and soon finds himself in trouble. He can't pay his subcontractors and he is hiding a few secrets from Kristi. This reminds of the scripture, "The love of money is the root of all evil."

Kristi is a very sweet young woman who is head over heels crazy for Joel. Her mom has warned her about "not being equally yoked" with Joel as he has wandered away from his faith. She seems to have hope that he will start finding his way back to God. She has noticed lately that Joel has become tense and has the weight of the world on his shoulders.

What secret has he not told Kristi about his family? When he goes to visit his family , will he feel welcomed? This is a great start to a wonderful new novella by an author that I highly admire. She writes about the Amish with such graceful words and makes their town come to life. Her character development is so engrossing . I love Kristi and her dedication to her faith. Joel is in for a few surprises when he thinks of a plan to get himself out of debt. The story ends on a cliffhanger which makes me anxious to get the next book in the series. It is well worth the time to read this engaging story and has a bit of the prodigal son theme in it. I love stories like that which reminds us about forgiveness and second chances.

I received a digital copy from NetGalley for an honest review. My review is also posted on Librarything, Goodreads, CBD, Amazonand Deepershopping .
