What a cute, sparkly story! My 4/almost 5 yo daughter loved it. There were enough illustrations to keep her visually entertained, and the story was just so cute and well done. This is a story of how you don’t have to settle for being just one thing—profession specifically. You can be whatever you want! It’s a great message for this age as they’re just starting to look at the people around them and notice the roles they play in society.

I highly recommend. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

My 9-year-old daughter read this ARC independently and absolutely loved it. She immediately said she would read more Amelia Sparkle books.

She especially admired Amelia’s bravery and connected with her confidence throughout the story. One comment that stood out was when she said, “The big bad wolf was just hungry,” which suggests she picked up on the story’s playful twist on the classic character.

She also adored the illustrations and described them as “cute,” which really enhanced her enjoyment of the book.

Overall, this was a big hit for our young reader, and we would gladly continue the series.

Thank you NetGalley!

Amelia Sparkle is doubting her ability to be a guardian when she spots a “Big Bad Wolf” in her neighborhood!

Cute little mashup of fairy tale stories, a great early chapter book for readers who are just taking off on their own! Sparkly, sweet, whimsical! I would definitely add this to an independent reader bin in my Kindergarten (or 1st/2nd grade) classroom to supplement a unit on fairy tales!

This book is cute, and has multiple takeaways for little kids. Amelia acting as a guardian instead of a fairy godmother encourages kids to be who you are/want to be, not just who you're expected to be. The truth about the wolf encourages them to get to know someone before making assumptions.
It was definitely on the easy side for my 8 year old, but she still enjoyed it. It would be great for a first chapter book for an early reader. Reading level and style felt similar to Princess in Black, with short sentences, larger print, and pictures scattered throughout.
