Description
Sometimes, things in life don't go the way we want them to, and that stinks. But this book isn't about those kinds of stinky things, rotten as they may be. This book is about nature's love of all things smelly on our planet and beyond. Why? Because they're fun and kind of gross yet strangely beautiful, and they smell the way they do for important reasons.
Humans may not have the best sense of smell in the animal kingdom, but we do alright. In fact, scientists are discovering more about our sniffer abilities all the time. Smells can be refreshing and soothing, or they can warn us of danger. Smells can make our stomachs hungry, or they can make our stomachs heave. Smells can even help us remember people and events from long ago. Impressive, right? But you're probably here for the "gross details" previously mentioned.
Okay, plug your nose, turn that page, and let's dig into Things That Stink!
Disclaimer: Unfortunately, this book does not include scratch-and-sniff stickers, but get ready to make some sense out of scents.
Author/illustrator Judith Graves takes readers on a humorous, informative, and stinking cute exploration of Things That Stink! on our planet and beyond.

"Things That Stink" was super fun and cute!
A children's book with beautiful and colorful illustrations, it shows and describes different creatures and things in nature that stink while explaining why they stink.
Lots of large spread images and little details to find and admire--perfect for learning and curious kiddos!
It's a great quick read that is informative in a fun way. I learned some new facts, and I have a feeling that this will give kids quite a few things to giggle at :)

Well this was a fun, stinky book. My son had lots of giggles reading it. He enjoyed the pictures and the fun facts about all the stinky things.
What a fun book! Delightfully informative and so fun for children of all ages. The illustrations are beautifully done and add even more to an already wonderful story. I look forward to adding this book to my school’s library— I know the children will adore it just as much as I did. Thank you for the ARC.

I was given the opportunity to read and review an ARC from Netgalley.
As a teacher-librarian at a public school that has all reading levels --from emerging readers to university bound students--I am constantly looking for appropriate content that will interest my readers. I am especially interested in any connection to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) that can happen. I also look for books with fantastic art and graphics and engaging topics. This book did not disappoint.
From wet dogs to sea lettuce, this storybook is a fun read. I love all of the facts that are used. There is just enough scientific information presented in a fashion that was easy to follow, but enough jokes to keep the young reader interested.
I plan to purchase this for my library collection.
I can tell you honestly, I did plug my nose when the book told me to!
Things That Stink covers bugs to plants and everything in-between. I loved the play-on-words, such as GOREgous. Very clever.
With awesome artwork and the facts about what stinks, I think this little book of 'Things That Stink' is for all ages that understand what stinky means.
Thank you #NetGalley and the publisher, Nimbus Publishing for this smelly book, #ThingsThatStink
The title of this one definitely got my kids' attention. Things That Stink is exactly what you think it would be: a book about stinky things. Some were unsurprising, but therr were some fun facts of the day included that my kids thought were hilarious! Who knew that sloths are actually stinky little dudes? What a funny way to get kids interested in non-fiction.
Thanks to Nimbus Publishing and NetGalley for an eARC of this book for an honest review.
Things That Stink by Judith Graves is a delightful look at a not-so-delightful part of life. There are plenty of things that stink in life, from insects to pets, wild animals to food, and even ourselves! Graves deftly describes the scents of each, and the only thing that could possibly bring the smells to life more would be a scratch and sniff feature. (Thanks for not doing that, by the way!)
This book will delight the child who likes to talk about gross things in all of the members of the family. I can even see a 'treasure' hunt of sorts, in which kids keep track of which scents they've encountered in real life, and where.
Graves not only writes about the topic skillfully, but provides some truly lovely illustrations as well. This book deserves a spot on every family and library bookshelf.
Thank you for the ARC of #ThingsThatStink to the publisher and #NetGalley.
Thank you #NetGalley for the early read of Things That Stink in return for my honest opinion and review.
Such a cute and funny story about so many things in this world that stink. Kids will love this book just like I did.

My son loved it. It was funny and he gave him a real science lesson as well. Great read before bedtime.
Very funny, informative, and stinky. My kids really loved this and they learned a lot. The illustrations were cute. We loved the sense of humor and jokes. The only thing that felt off was the font of the words. The style felt out of place for some reason but maybe it was the stark black color with the colorful pictures. We still really enjoyed it and I can see us buying a physical copy when it is available!
