Just when it seems things couldn’t get worse, he finds his new partner is a long-lost girlfriend from college days.

Jeff finds Caroline as beautiful and brilliant as before and it isn’t long before the former couple begin to rediscover their past feelings for each other as they live and work within a local Afghan family.

When their mission comes to a sudden end, Jeff returns home depressed and in need of serious soul searching. Advance Praise

“I loved this novel. It's part thriller, part love story, part psychological roller coaster, with a story that moves swiftly from war-battered Afghanistan to a placid valley in Central California's verdant wine country. The protagonist--a young battlefield physician who discovers a talent for producing fine wine -- like other characters in the book is finely drawn and believable as is the story itself. The author has plainly done his homework and writes knowingly about war, wine and medicine--the latter not such a surprise since he was a practicing physician.”

Robert Lindsey, the Edgar winning author of "The Falcon and the Snowman."

"This is one hell of a book ...."

A very intriguing thriller! This is very enjoyable reading experience. Our main character is a somewhat flawed individual who is a Naval surgeon who awakes from a traumatic event to find himself unemployable. He struggles with continuing as a doctor then one day walks away determined to forge a new life. He meets two characters who share his mutual love of all things wine and vineyards. He takes part ownership in a vineyard and the suspense begins. The action is fast paced , well crafted and its nonstop excitement. I loved the basis of this story that shows us who he was prior and who he remains after tragedy, how he rebuilds after betrayal and restarts his life Be prepared to not put this book down. Its excitement throughout. Thank you for the advance reading copy. I hope this will be a series to be continued.
