Description

Fame put her in the spotlight. It also put her in danger.

He was hired to keep her safe. Falling for her wasn’t part of the job.

Harper Lane didn’t chase fame—but when her music caught the right ears, a reality TV stage turned into sold-out shows and a life lived under a spotlight. Now, with a tour on the horizon and her star rising fast, the pressure is enough without a stalker tracking her every move.

Enter Rett Cross: former military, now elite private security. His mission is simple—keep Harper safe. But the more time they spend together, the more complicated it gets. She's all light and heart. He’s no-nonsense and control. And neither of them is prepared for what’s building between them.

As the tour heats up and the threats close in, their connection deepens—and so do the risks. Because loving Harper doesn’t just mean lowering his guard. It means learning what it really takes to protect someone when the danger hits close to home.

A Little More You is a no spice slow-burn romantic suspense filled with emotional depth, banter, undeniable chemistry—and a dog who always knows more than he lets on.

Advance Praise

This book delivered everything, heartfelt family moments with both Harper’s and Rett’s family, a beautifully developed romance, and just the right amount of suspense to keep me guessing. - Brandy, Goodreads

This was everything I want in a slow burn, closed-door romance — and more. If you love meaningful connection, subtle tension, and romance that simmers before it sparks, this is a must-read. A true 5-star experience. - Julie, Goodreads

I love a good entertainment romance and this one perfectly fit the bill. I loved it was also no spice because not all novels need to always be that to be a great love story. It was a slow burn grievous romance and I loved the military aspect as well. Highly enjoyed

Harper captured my heart so much i loved the dynamics her family bring to this book. it was so sure and solid and that is a theme that just runs through the book. like a reassurance, this family bond or people really looking out for those they care about.
and then when you bring Rett into it. well ok then. now we are getting something a step up! and in the best way possible. these two had such a connection i couldn't help but feel it too. it was beautifully written and had the balance just right to make you want to smile with them, protect them and also hang out with them. it wasn't rushed. it was just there and growing like it was somehow always meant to be.
when emotional tension is written like this it gives you everything as a reader. and their moments were ones of trueness. it wasn't always the big things. it was the small details they shared or cared or gave to each other. those little moments that say i know you and i got you. and as a reader i just ate all that up.
the added story line of Harper's career taking off and then meaning she needs protection was a great twist of suspense to proceedings. because who is that protection going to come from on a professional front of course. yup enter MR Rett haha. but its straight away, you can feel it, something so much more for both and something so much more to come. it sucks you right into the story and adds another layer to the read.
totally fell in love with this book and really liked how it proved you can have all the feels and more without spice laced through it. dont get me wrong i love that too. but i have noticed its been ramped up in some places recently and almost like people are competing for how much and far they can include it, crossing some lines. this pulled it right back for me and was just the refreshing sight i needed to see.

I ended up flying through this one. I wasn't ready for it to end! This was my first Jennifer Carr book and I will definitely be reading more!

Harper is a country music star on a clear path, while Rett, a former military guy, isn't quite sure what his future holds. After receiving threats, it's evident that Harper needs someone to ensure her safety while she does what she loves, and who better than Rett? But neither of them was prepared for the feelings that would develop between them. As feelings develop, so do the threats, and the stakes are higher than ever.

Their story was the perfect balance of falling in love with them as they fell in love with each other, and just the right amount of suspense to keep propelling the story forward. Harper’s tight-knit family adds so much to the storyline (I especially loved her relationship with her protective brothers!!), and as someone who lives in Nashville, the country music backdrop was fun.

The romance is a true slow burn, but in the best way. It's easy to tell they are meant to be together. Their love wasn't built on one grand gesture, but made of many small meaningful moments. It makes their story feel more authentic and genuine.

And just when I thought I knew where things were going, the suspense element kicked in and completely pulled me back in. As someone who reads a lot of mystery, I didn't see the twist coming.

Overall, this is a warm, closed-door romance with just the right amount mystery and suspense. Even if you usually prefer explicit scenes in your books, don't shy away from this one. The chemistry and connection between Harper & Rett is very evident, and if anything, the lack of spice only makes their emotional connection even stronger. A perfect slow-burn with great payoff.
