Description
Starting over at forty-four back home in Lainey Springs was already complicated.
Running into former country music frontman Jameson Clover made it a problem.
Charlie Taylor returns to her hometown of Lainey Springs in upstate New York looking for a reset, not a romance. Fresh off a divorce and determined to rebuild her interior design career on her own terms, she plans a quiet summer. That plan unravels the moment she quite literally collides with Jameson Clover.
Once the frontman of a chart-topping country band, Jameson has spent years choosing responsibility over reinvention. Now he runs his family’s bar, protecting what’s left of his legacy and keeping his unfinished dreams locked away.
When Charlie agrees to stage Jameson’s mother’s house for sale, sharp banter gives way to undeniable chemistry. But as their connection deepens, so do the risks. Charlie is offered a career-defining opportunity that would pull her away from Lainey Springs, while Jameson is forced to confront the guilt and fear that have kept him rooted in place.
With time running out and the past pressing in, they must decide whether this summer is a detour — or the beginning of something neither of them planned for.
The Summer Place to Be is a dual-POV, emotionally grounded romance about second chances, fractured families, and the courage it takes to choose what you truly want.
Perfect for readers of Abby Jimenez and Carley Fortune, it blends small-town nostalgia, sharp humor, and mature, open-door romance.

Wow! From the first chapter on I was hooked. Charlie Taylor comes back home to help her sister who will be having a baby in late summer. On the train back home, she meets Jameson Clover and embarrassment ensues. Since she wasn't supposed to be back for a couple of days, she has fun on the town where she runs into Jay again. Little does she know that he is the front man for Trifecta, a band she adored as a kid. Somehow, she keeps running into him and he get's her a job re-designing his childhood home, after she was shafted by her ex-husband. Will they find true love? You'll have to read it to find out.
I absolutely enjoyed this ARC, thanks!

Book besties, mark your calendars for May 12th because you're going to want to get a train ticket to Lainey Springs as soon as possible. It's cute ✧˖°small town vibes✧˖° are definitely The Summer Place to Be. Happy to say I can add this book to the list of reads that keep me up all night because I cannot put it down until I finish. There was not a dry eye in the house when I concluded this book. Melissa Trombetta really knows how to dig deep and touch upon dark topics without making them feel like they're weighing you down, but still approaching them with the grace and tact that will make you emotional. This skill makes her characters multidimensional and so easy to fall in love with. Don't get me started on my new favorite cowboy. We ride at dawn for Jameson. Can't forget our charmingly chaotic city girl Charlie either.

I was lucky to receive an ARC from the Author and NetGalley for my honest opinion. This story has everything you in a fun summer read, small town romance, starting a fresh start, family and heartthrob crushes that come to life. I was hooked from the first chapter. Charlie Taylor returns to her hometown of Lainey Springs in Upstate New York looking to make a fresh start. She is also there to help her sister prepare for her new baby and helping setting up and designing the nursery. Jameson Clover is a country music signer that Charlie was in love with when she was a teenager. Charlie never expected she would meet him and hit it off. They have ups and downs but you must read to find out what happens. You won't be disappointed.

this book was so not being fair. i loved it far too much and when i finished it had far too many pins and needles from not moving throughout the whole thing. ouchie...
Charlie is home, well her hometown anyway. lifes been lifeing for her so she is taking this time to gather herself and regroup. although it stings to have to be coming back in the situation she now finds herself in. she lost alot recently so the plan is to start getting her life back on track.
what she didn't count on is the man that is James Clover. i mean who could really plan for him???
James is licking his own kind of wounds. has his own kind of complications and reasons for being in this town could be as complex as Charlie's.
right from the start i was in love with these two. i already knew i was in trouble as i cared about these characters lives too much. and i was rooting for their future too much. yup, its one of THOSE books people. get your heart and angst read for these two.
the way they connected was so much more too though. yes instant banter and connection. but their links and weaving around each other like something meant to be felt real, stable and safe. something they both need. but this connection also could feel very unsafe for them both. how genuine they feel for each other wasn't part of the plan. and these two sure do know how to keep their hurt hearts protected right now.
these two also felt really mature in moments though too. it wasn't all about them. we learn as individuals what they are going through and even when its hard, even when they dont manage to be right or rational they also felt very aware of their own issues to sort. and thats never easy young or old.
the stuff they carried with them had such ripple effect on their lives and this is so true to life. even when we dont realise it or should i say want to admit it.
the town and the people in it were also gorgeous to get to know. i smiled so much whilst reading this book. not only did i feel so connection with the two mains but so much for the rest of the feel from the other characters and feeling of this community. i wanted to be enveloped into this group. and i wanted a hug off a certain member who i felt could enfold me and make all my troubles seem far away. you know who you are...
i loved this book so much. Melissa bought some really joy to my day today. i couldn't get enough of this book. it hit all the notes i could have wished for going in. and exceeded so many too. loved it.
