Wow! What a rollercoaster ride! Jem was from Ohio and her husband, of only one month, headed off to fight in the Union army. After the battle of Bull Run, he went missing and she needed to know if he was dead, alive or captured.

Logan was the secretary to the secretary of the Treasury in Washington City. He had traveled to the small town in Ohio to conduct business on behalf of boss. He had a lively first meeting with Jem.

On the train ride to Washington City, Logan rescued Jem and became her "protector" as she searched for her husband, Ben.

Jem had quite a journey in trying to find her husband, Ben. Could she love two men? Would she be a widow or a wife? You'll have to read the book to find the answers.

I was given this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

I like hearing stories about the Civil War and this was no exception. I liked the twists and turns that the unknowing about her husband tossed to them. I thought the characters were realistic.
