Description
It all started with a simple, yet sneakily difficult challenge from global best-selling author Harlan Coben: Pick a bird of prey, then use it as the inspiration for a brand-new story.
The response from some of the best writers on the planet: Game on!
The result: Eleven stories that are twisty, scary, surprising, and bursting with imagination. An egg worth more than its weight in gold. A mysterious operative known only as Owl. An eagle-watcher who sees more than she should. Even a story that somehow places the Maltese Falcon in a nursing home.

Finding a book filled with short stories from the greatest thriller writers in this generation is amazing. Being allowed to read it early- astounding. The challenge premise was simple enough: choose a bird of prey and write story around that. What follows are amazing crime stories from Tess Gerritsen, Kathy Reichs, Hank Phillippi Ryan, Allison Brennan plus so many more that are edited by super thriller writers Harlan Coben and CJ Box, with their own contributions. The stories are full of twists and thrills, and you'll find yourself longing for more while diving (catch that, Harlan?) into the next. And the winner is: you, the reader. You get a masterful collection of incredible short stories from your favorite authors.
Super snaps and thanks to The Mysterious Press for allowing me to read this collection in exchange for an honest review.

Only seasoned readers will understand me when I say......I was so excited to get this book that I started reading it 5 minutes later. An anthology of stories with a central theme of birds of prey, the idea for the book started with a challenge by Harlan Coben to a group of my favorite authors. It's almost like he chose the stories just for me. I recommend anthologies often; they are a great way to discover new authors, investigate a genre, or break a reading slump. The stories are all excellent, with most of them tying into the author's previous work so readers are treated to short stories from their favorite series. a base of IFYKYK that worked very well. I usually don't declare a favorite, but a Rockton short story that combines with my favorite characters from the Nadia Stafford series was a very welcome surprise by Kelley Armstrong. Many of my friends and family are going to receive a copy of this book. It is not only full of great stories, it's a fundraiser for the ITW.
