This sweet autumn read is such a cozy little treasure!! The story introduces kids to the beauty of the season. Crunchy leaves, cool breezes, and all the comforting vibes while teaching simple ASL signs. It’s the perfect blend of learning and storytelling.
Thank you Familius and NetGalley for the ARC! Can’t wait to read this again to my kids in the fall!

I absolutely loved this! I feel like this would be enjoyed by adults or kids alike. The way the author gave the key elements of the season along with the illustrations were truly phenominal. Simple and to the point whether you are trying to teach someone sign language or get them familiar with ASL it works both ways. It was very for a beginner (like my cousin who has a hearing impaired friend) to understand and practice communicating so that she is more adept at this type of communicating. I also felt the represe tatiom which is extremely important fpr children of this age group.

With bright illustrations, simple phrases, and excellent modeling of ASL, this is the perfect how-to book! I would recommend this for all children and their grownups, along with older readers who are interested in a good beginning point for learning sign language.
What a gorgeously illustrated and educational book about fall. I appreciate that the pictures are very kid-friendly, and that the text highlights colors to help reinforce that skill for young readers. I also like that each sign includes a more detailed description, allowing grown-ups or older children to better understand how to form them correctly.
In other children’s signing books, I’ve noticed the images are often quite simple, and sometimes it’s unclear how to make the signs accurately. This book stands out for its clarity and usability. I recommend it for anyone interested in learning fall-themed signs, especially parents who enjoy reading and learning alongside their children.
I think this is a really important book to start showing young children ASL signs! I love that it centered around a theme of fall to help make it easier to learn things around the same idea. The illustrations and descriptions were well done.

Fall is a warm and engaging board book that introduces a set of American Sign Language (ASL) signs through a familiar seasonal theme. The book focuses on a manageable number of words related to autumn, making it especially well-suited for young learners and for classroom use.
The text is simple and descriptive, with a natural flow that works well for read-aloud settings. The integration of ASL feels seamless rather than added on, allowing a teacher or parent to incorporate the signs naturally while reading. The vocabulary is thoughtfully chosen and can easily be extended into classroom use, especially for students who are beginning to learn and use ASL in context.
The illustrations are appealing and relatable. The child featured throughout is depicted in timeless, everyday clothing, and the larger images like leaves, a squirrel, popcorn, and a pumpkin capture recognizable and cozy elements of the fall season. These images will resonate with many children and support engagement.
From a practical standpoint, some of the hand illustrations demonstrating the signs are slightly small for group use. While they are likely sufficient for one-on-one reading, a teacher working with a small group may need to preview the signs and model them more directly to ensure clarity.
The book includes a thoughtful interactive moment, asking readers about their favorite kind of apple. Additional questions or a concluding page inviting children to respond using ASL signs could further enhance engagement and reinforce learning.
Educational Value: This book is a strong addition to an early childhood or elementary classroom. It introduces ASL vocabulary in a focused and approachable way, supports seasonal learning, and offers opportunities for interactive read-alouds and language development. It would be especially useful for teachers looking to incorporate basic ASL into daily routines or thematic units.
Recommendation: Highly recommended for preschool and early elementary classrooms, as well as for families interested in introducing ASL in a natural, low-pressure way.

I want to start by saying the illustrations are what grabbed me first. I love the idea of an ASL board book. It is important for children, especially at an early age, to feel included. The eight different signs fit perfectly in the "fall" theme of the book. The instructions given to make each sign are simple to follow and the illustrations that correspond are relatively clear and easy to use. As a teacher I would include this in my classroom, specifically during the fall in an autumn themed unit.
I really enjoyed this book! It’s a simple, engaging way to introduce young readers to fall while also incorporating basic ASL. The signs are easy to follow and make the story feel interactive without being overwhelming.
What I loved most is how naturally the ASL is woven into the seasonal content. It adds an extra layer of learning while still keeping the focus on familiar fall themes that kids can connect to.
This would be a great read for both the classroom and at home—especially for TK–2nd grade. It’s perfect for read-aloud time and encourages kids to participate, move, and learn in a hands-on way.
Overall, a thoughtful and inclusive book that makes learning about the seasons even more meaningful.
