You’ve just received the news: your husband has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes or prediabetes. Or worse, he’s already diabetic and ignoring it. You’re worried about him and your future together . . . rightfully so. More people die from diabetic complications than breast cancer and AIDS combined, and two-thirds of diabetics die of heart disease or stroke. But it doesn’t have to be that way . . .
“Your husband’s doctor can’t defeat diabetes, but believe it or not, you can… and we’re going to show you exactly how!”
Michael Albertson is a recovered diabetic. His wife, Ellen, is a dietitian and psychologist. When Michael was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, they couldn’t find any material on how wives could help their husbands defeat diabetes . . . without losing their mind or marriage! They wrote this book together, in non-medical English, to help you save him . . . and yourself.
Warm, witty, and reassuring, the Albertsons deliver the medical information and psychological support WIVES need to help hubby defeat diabetes.
No more cardboard cuisine! Includes a complete two-week diabetes defeating meal plan with delicious, easy recipes that taste so good he won’t notice they’re healthy.

I chose this book to read, but not because either my husband or I have diabetes. However, we are both especially him at risk to develop diabetes. Wanting to be proactive, I was looking for tips to get your man to develop a regular routine of exercise and healthy eating (especially snacking). This book delivered and more. As a nurse who has done diabetic education, I know the basics of what is and how diabetes affects the body. This book would have been very helpful to enforce the education delivered. It is written in a non medical tone and reads very nicely, giving down to earth tips. The husband's comments, sprinkled through the book addresses his feelings to other men with diabetes. This book educates without being preachy. Highly recommended for those with diabetes and those who want to lower their risk factors.

The information in this book is positive and uplifting when the subject is not. All the information is reinforcing good, healthy lifestyle choices that will improve living for everyone, not just married couples. Thanks for taking the time to write this!

The title of the book – “The Diabetic and The Dietitian” prompted me to request this book for review, when I read the description of the book I knew it was exactly the kind of material I had been looking to source ever since my fit, sporty, footballer husband was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes over two years ago. The book is written by a husband (who has type 2 Diabetes) and his wife, a certified dietician. The information contained in the book is excellent for helping couples who are affected by the impact of the male being told he is diabetic and how he reacts emotionally and psychologically to the news. It also discusses in depth how the female (wife, girlfriend) can support her partner following on from his diagnosis. The book offers diet advice, and ways that through diet control, diabetes can be reversed. The book offers way in which to change eating habits and how to do it as couple in order to offer morale support to the male. More importantly this book is written in plain down to earth language that non medical people can understand, over all I found the way the book was written, the advice it offered and the in-depth explanations of type 2 diabetes and how it can impact on men really interesting and informative. I would and will be recommending this book to any couples who are living with the male being a type 2 diabetic. Thank you Dr. Ellen Albertson, PhD, MS, RDN and Michael Albertson, I will be purchasing this book and referring to it often to get hints, recipies and tips to support my husband through his diabetes and hopefully with your guidance we can reverse it together. Thanks again this book is exactly what i have been looking for, now I know we are not alone and there are other couples out there feeling confused and struggling with the diagnosis the same way my husband and I are.
