Description

A steamy sapphic romance about music, second chances, and falling for the one person you shouldn't—your new bandmate.

Ever since she can remember, Florence Gibson has had one goal: to tour the world as a musician, and outshine her absentee rockstar father. When her all-women, all-queer rock band Scorpio Season gets booked as the opening act for her idol’s European tour, Florence can’t believe their luck. There is only one problem: the band needs a drummer.

Luca Walsh has no idea where she’s going. Ever since she dropped out of university, her days have been a blur of shifts at the coffee shop, trying to remember if she took her ADHD medication, and lying in bed questioning her existence. When she stumbles upon a flyer searching for drummers in the area, she jumps at the chance to have a distraction.

Their first band meeting devolves into chaos when Florence realizes that Luca isn’t any stranger—she’s the woman Florence went home with not even twenty-four-hours earlier to have a reckless, mind-blowing, life-altering one-night-stand. But the show must go on. Through four weeks of performing together, hour-long car rides across Europe, and nights sharing beds in seedy hotel rooms, they try to hide their growing attraction—for the sake of the band that’s starting to feel more like a family, and all the dreams that suddenly seem within reach. As their music rises in the charts, so does the tension between them. With every new song feeling more like an emotional confession, how long can they keep their distance?

I could not put this book down! Such a sweet story that takes the best aspects of common romantic tropes and adds its own spin on them. Luca and Florence feel like very realistic characters. Their relationship is very adorable, and this author did a good job at adding stakes without making them toxic. I liked how there were many aspects to grasp onto -- the romance, the bands narrative, familial dynamics, and carrier choices. Overall, this was incredibly cute and digestible. I am excited for Tonis story in the future.

it's like jo and katie's dancing together on "no idea" became a book to live in, full of sapphic yearning, bandmates-as-family, and getting out of your own way fast enough to not lose the one person who sees you clearly. (MUNA nation, if you want to start a book club, wow do I have a pitch) I loved spending time with scorpio season, especially as it explored how flo and luca learned to trust themselves, and each other. a gorgeous way to end pride month. thanks to netgalley and lyx for the advanced copy!

3 weeks later and I’m still thinking about this book! This is the sapphic band romance of my dreams and I fucking LOVED it. Luca and Florence are perfect for each other.

The songs in this are stunning. I’m still devastated that I can’t add swallow me to my music library.

10/10 would read again

Music was the first language Florence Gibson could speak. After landing her dream role as an opener for star Juno Wilde, the entire band is ecstatic. All they needed was a drummer, and when Luca Walsh walks into practice and lands the role, there’s only one problem--she is the same woman that Florence slept with the night before. Now forced to navigate their building desire and focus on their dreams, the two must embark on a 5-week tour together, keeping their connection a secret from the rest of the band.

I absolutely loved this book! It was addictive, heartwarming, and, at its core, a story about friendship, connection, and perseverance. The intimacy scenes were well done, and the YEARNING was top-notch. From their first interaction, the chemistry between Florence and Luca was palpable. While the story definitely could’ve been expanded and explored more in certain parts, I thoroughly enjoyed the plot and pacing. Most remarkable was how tastefully done the performance scenes were. They were not only believable, but they were immersive--I felt like I was on stage with the band. From the fan comments to the plot with Florence's father, every aspect of this book was captivating and thought-out.

I really loved it!

SCORPIO SEASON by maisie bell is an electric, steamy sapphic adult romance debut that hits all the right notes. it follows florence, the lead singer of scoripo season, and luca, the band's new drummer, as they're paths cross—first for a one-night stand, then on a european tour they're another singer's opening act for. it's a heartfelt story about discovering your true path, the power in opening up through your art, and finding a kind of love that's unexpected, that makes you feel truly seen, that feels like a soft place to land when everything else is uncertain.

This is for anyone who grew up watching Behind the Music and wished the "making the band" story was a bit more sapphic. This story has it all: a meet-cute, will they/won't they drama, all on the backdrop of a band making its ascent. Add in some daddy issues, and we've got a great addition to the WLW canon.

I enjoyed every second of this book!

When Florence her queer rock band Scorpio Season gets booked as the opening act a European tour, Flo can’t believe her luck.
The only problem is that they need a drummer, here is where Luca walks into their repetition basement. The girl Flo had a one-night-stand with not even 24 hours ago.

Through weeks of performing together, car rides across Europe, and nights sharing beds in hostels, they try to hide their growing attraction for the sake of the band. But their attraction only grows stronger.

If you enjoy sapphic romance, forced proximity, girls yearning, lots of tension, messy feelings, and found family, you will adore this.

There is so much more I can say about this book but I’m scared to spoil something. 🤭

Thank you to LYX and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book early.
I feel so lucky I got to read this already!

(Also the sprayed edges this book is going to have are gorgeous and I need to have it on my shelf!)

This is also going to be a series, I can’t wait to read about the other girlies falling in love!

4.5 ⭐️s! | If you’re in the mood for a sometimes messy, electric, music-filled romance with so much chemistry and tenderness, this one is for you!!

Florence and Luca’s relationship is the kind that thrives on tension. With them being a one-night-stand-turned-bandmates (aka an incredible recipe for chaos), and then throwing in a tour, shared beds, and rising fame? It’s deliciously complicated. Their dynamic is magnetic from the start, balancing vulnerability with sharp banter, and watching their connection evolve from impulsive to deeply emotional was easily the highlight of the book.

Florence’s drive to prove herself—especially in the shadow of her rockstar father—adds a strong emotional backbone, while Luca’s more uncertain, drifting energy creates a really compelling contrast. Luca’s struggles with direction and ADHD felt grounded and real, and it made her journey just as engaging as the romance itself.

“ It still frightens her to be seen so clearly—to have parts of her exposed that she never intended, parts she never even knew about before Luca picked them up and turned them over, like toying with her fidget cube.

Weeks ago, it would have sent her running. But Luca’s hands are on her, steady and grounding, and the truth comes easy in their well-worn silence.

“Something different,” she says, resting her forehead against Luca’s. “A love song, I think.””

The band as a whole deserves a shoutout too. The found-family element is so well done, and each member adds warmth and personality, making the stakes feel bigger than just the romance. You genuinely want them all to succeed. The music backdrop adds an extra layer of intensity, so every performance and song feels like an extension of their emotions.

Also, as a Scorpio, I felt obligated to read this, and I have zero regrets. I loved Florence and Luca’s growing romance, I loved the band dynamics, and for my first book by Bell, I’m already excited for whatever comes next!

If you enjoy sapphic romance, forced proximity, bandmate tension, messy feelings, second chances, and found family with big heart, this is absolutely for you!

Thank you to NetGalley and LYX for this eARC and to Maisie Bell for such a tender, wonderful romance. Also, the cover?! Perfection.

This book is an absolute masterpiece. And as a Scorpio myself I am *obviously* the best judge for a book with ‘Scorpio’ in the title. Maisie Bell does a fantastic job writing her characters and bringing them to life. I feel soooo lucky I got to read the eARC for this book and I can’t wait for it to get published in October, right at the beginning of Scorpio Season ;)

What a wild ride. I love a messy romance and this was exactly that! Add in a rockstar filled romance and I’m all in. I loved that Luca had ADHD, as a fellow girlie myself, it felt healing! I loved the found family aspect of the band. The love they all have for each other is beautiful.

This book shows the true meaning of a bond between two bandmates. Florence met Luca after looking for a drummer in the band Scorpio Season. Luca joined the band and became a drummer. Both Florence and Luca had tried their best to hide their attraction due to the sake of the band. This book is a good read.

Thank you to LYX and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book early.

Scorpio Season follows Florence and Luca, as their band goes on their first tour after Luca and Florence have a once night stand the night before Luca joins the band.

I really liked this book! The chemistry between Florence and Luca was palpable from their first meeting and I really enjoyed their interactions as well as how close the rest of the band was. I also really enjoyed the lyrics from the songs that were sprinkled throughout and wished I could hear them as full songs!

My main issue with the book was that a lot of the dialogue wasn’t written in a way that British people speak, which made it hard for me to fully immerse myself in the world. I also found that the third act “breakup” with Florence and everyone didn’t feel like it was as big of an issue as all the characters acted like it was.

But these issues were minor and I was able to look past it and enjoy the story.

Thank you again to LYX and NetGalley for the chance to read this early.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc.

This was such a fun second chance sapphic romance. I enjoyed reading Florence and Luca's story. They had such great dynamic. This was a first by this author for me but I enjoyed her writing style so it will not be my last. This was a page turner and very much hard to put down.
