AFTEREGO is not a book about becoming a better version of oneself. It is a book about the failure of that very pursuit. It operates on the premise that for the high-achiever, "self-improvement" is often just a sophisticated maintenance of a high-performance cage. The book investigates the Adapted Identity - the curated, logical, and socially flawless mask constructed for survival - and what happens when that mask can no longer carry the weight of the soul.

The Narrative

Written by a high-stakes corporate lawyer who spent decades mastering the "simulations" of status and success, Afterego documents the collapse of the persona. When titles, logic, and intellectual dominance reached their limit, the author found the ultimate mirror for ego dissolution not in a temple, but in the stable.

The book uses the horse-human connection as its central, unforgiving metaphor. A horse cannot be lied to; it does not respond to a CV or a Master’s degree. It responds to the nervous system. Through this visceral interaction, the reader is led away from the "clean" language of modern spirituality and into the "grit" of somatic intelligence.

Anti-Self-Help Stance: It explicitly rejects the "fix-it" culture, offering instead a roadmap for occupying the void left after the ego's collapse.

Somatic Rigor: Unlike traditional memoirs, it integrates deep psychological insights with practical somatic reflections, centered on the unique mirror of equine-assisted deconstruction.
