Description
In partnership with Massive Monster and Devolver Digital, the record-setting comic book expansion of Cult of the Lamb returns with its long-awaited, world-ending climax from writer Alex Paknadel (Astonishing X-Men) and artist Troy Little (Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons)!
In the aftermath of their first and closest follower’s sacrifice, glorious but disillusioned cult leader Lamb continues to wage war against the remaining three ruthless Bishops of the Old Faith—but they lack the conviction to tend their growing flock back at the cult. More followers are rescued by the day, but with no one to indoctrinate them, Lamb’s power stagnates and the One Who Waits becomes weary of his earthly vessel’s resistance to the full power and responsibility of the Red Crown. When a challenger for the crown’s divine power emerges from within the cult, a violent schism further weakens Lamb’s crusade. Former vessel and kindly caretaker Ratau intercedes in defense of his dear leader, Lamb, who must finally decide if they will embrace the power of the Red Crown or abandon their quest . . . and their remaining, loyal followers.
Collects the two double-sized specials Cult of the Lamb: Schism Special #1 and Cult of the Lamb: Last Sacrament Special #1

Incredible artwork, a stunning use of colors, and a tragic story of revenge and neglect make this a very welcome addition to the existing Cult of the Lamb comics. This definitely makes me want to reinstall the game and give it another playthrough.

So I've been into COTL for about two years (I was so excited for Woolhaven to drop and took two three to fours days to clear so much of the DLC) After finishing this, I think it's overall pretty faithful (heh) to the game's charms, with mostly understandable deviations.
The main of course being Lamb can't be wholly a blank slate to project onto. Lamb here is much grouchier than in game, grieving for the follower OC that perished at the end of the first volume. I still don't give much of a fuck about Nana, and I'll admit it rubs me a little bit the wrong way to ultimately suggest that she is what is so foundational to Lamb deciding there must be mercy instead of what the old faith preached.
In a way I think this part of the comic is symptomatic of so many players trying to have their cake and eat it too and act like they're completely moral cult leaders. Which MM even mocked in a Youtube short on why a Woolhaven character isn't recruitable to the cult, even if you believe you're 'not like other cult leaders.'
Still, my minor quibbles with the specter of Nana aside, I quite enjoyed this comic. I enjoyed the references to all sorts of things like cultists eating poop (here because they're in a famine), cultists who rebel against Lamb and cause issues, the cartoonish blood of Lamb's battles. And I overall do like the messaging/conclusion Lamb comes to about how ALL the bishops of the Old Faith must die for something new and better to truly be built... I just roll my eyes at the stumbling blog of what Nana's ideals were a bit.
And how can I not love something that gives me a panel of Lamb and Narinder getting married as one of the possible outcomes of the final battle? Truly MM knows their fanbase.
As I said in my review of the first volume, I truly do still think there is a lot of potential in comics set in this verse. And I think this one does an even better job than the previous one did of showing the adventures the setting has to offer, the dynamic art that can be created.

"Cult of the Lamb Vol. 2" is a graphic novel by Alex Paknadel and Troy Little based off of the video game. In this second novel in the series, Lamb continues his quest of revenge while his cult suffers. We learn more about the "One who waits" and see Ratau in a kinder light. The illustrations are bright and gory. A must-buy for graphic novel collections, especially those that have the first novel.

The story in volume 2 picks up straight after the events of volume 1, with Lamb dealing with the aftermath of Nana's death. While Lamb was the star of volume 1, he's undoubtedly the anti-hero of volume 2. The storyline wonderfully highlights the issues you try to avoid while playing the game, providing real repercussions if you don't balance your cult successfully. Although completely viable to read if you haven't played it, these graphic novels are an incredible extension and truly add to the experience of playing.
A game renowned for its fun, throwaway cruelty suddenly has a lot more heart underneath!

If you loved the game, you'll love this book - or at the very least, enjoy it. The art is GORGEOUS. I kept flipping back through pages just to take it in. The central theme of heresy was so interesting to me as you really only get blips of it in the game. Honestly, some of the scenes were tear jerkers to me (Lamb returning to the temple scene) just cause it was SO sad. And getting to see the Old Gods conniving behind the scenes was the cherry on top.

CULT OF THE LAMB – VOLUME 2 – THE LAST SACRAMENT
Written by – Alex Paknadel
Illustrations by – Troy Little
‘In the aftermath of their first and closest follower’s sacrifice, glorious but disillusioned cult leader Lamb continues to wage war against the remaining three ruthless Bishops of the Old Faith—but they lack the conviction to tend their growing flock back at the cult. More followers are rescued by the day, but with no one to indoctrinate them, Lamb’s power stagnates and the One Who Waits becomes weary of his earthly vessel’s resistance to the full power and responsibility of the Red Crown.
Another gore-filled-fun-fest wherein a challenger for the crown’s divine power forces Lamb to fight formidable foes and their minions.
The Ending—My Heart!
Now, as I mentioned in my review of volume one, I have yet to play the video game Cult Of Lamb, but that is going to get remedied soon!
Again, the artwork is *chef’s kiss*

The return of the Lamb , the remaining Bishops, and 'The One Who Waits' is just as fun and morbid as the original. This second volume is the finale, but leaves space for any continuations. Following the plot of the games, this is perfect for those who don't want to grind through a roguelike, cult-simulator. The artwork remains faithful and adds that extra dimension to pulls readers into the story. Short compared to some volumes, but what it lacks in length it makes up for it in the schism within the Lamb's cult. Containing to special issues, this is a perfect companion for those who enjoyed the first volume and series like "Dwellings" and the Archie horror comics.
