Description

A rising star in Southern fiction, Grace Helena Walz returns with Pretty as a Peach, another story full of charm, sass, wit, and characters you'll want as friends.

When a new beauty company threatens everything she holds dear, Delilah must find the courage to speak up and reveal the truth.

Delilah Thomas has a stellar track record of avoiding conflict. Her life mantra? Keep the peace. Born to a family she has never fit in, Delilah learned early that no matter what it costs her, it's best to keep quiet, nod, and agree. Now in her late thirties, she has mastered the art and employs it daily with the preschoolers she teaches.

Then Peach Pit sets up shop in her small hometown and infiltrates every female relationship, including Delilah's lifelong best-friend group. A direct sales business, Peach Pit claims its beauty products are organic and all-natural and recruits women to become "Darlings" who host parties to sell products to friends and family. Delilah's friend Betsy is ecstatic to join, drawn by promises of sisterhood and easy income. But something seems off to Delilah.

When customers, including her pregnant friend Eliza, start reporting rashes, Peach Pit refuses to take responsibility. Then Betsy lets an unsettling secret slip, and Delilah can't hold her tongue any longer. With the help of her retired neighbor, Mrs. Chopra, and travel journalist Jasper--Delilah's longtime pen pal and childhood crush, finally in town for a visit--Delilah investigates the company and uncovers the grim truth. She is faced with a choice: Stop pushing and keep the peace, or find her courage and expose Peach Pit's shady business practices, even if it costs her the unthinkable.

A story about enduring friendship, Pretty as a Peach paints a vivid portrait of choosing bravery in the midst of uncertainty and reminds us that the sweetest things in life are worth fighting for. Perfect for fans of Kristy Woodson Harvey, Lauren K. Denton, and Joy Callaway.

It’s another winner from Grace Helena Walz! I absolutely adore these characters and the story of friendship and found family with one of the SWEETEST romances woven in. This might just be my new favorite of Grace’s, and I’ve loved them all! The narrator knocks it out of the park and really brings these characters to life! 5 peachy stars!

Pretty as a Peach was such a sweet listen that blends friendship, family drama, and personal growth. Delilah's struggle to stop keeping the peace and start speaking up felt relatable, and I appreciated how the story explored the effect of manipulative direct-sales companies on a small community.

The small-town setting, strong female friendships, and sweet romance gave the story plenty of heart without overshadowing the more serious themes. Brittany Godwin's narration was an absolute pleasure to listen to from beginning to end and added a warmth to an already cozy story.

Overall, this was a charming, engaging audiobook about finding your voice, standing up for what matters, and the people who support you along the way.

This was such a charming, heartfelt Southern fiction story with the perfect mix of friendship, humor, small-town drama, and a little mystery πŸ‘πŸŒΈβœ¨. Delilah Thomas has spent her entire life avoiding conflict. Keeping the peace has always felt easier than speaking up, especially growing up in a family where she never quite fit in. Now in her late thirties, she's content teaching preschool and staying out of trouble in her small hometown.

That all changes when Peach Pit, a trendy beauty company, arrives in town and quickly takes over everyone's lives πŸ’„πŸ‘. Promising friendship, success, and easy money, the company recruits local women to become "Darlings" and sell products to friends and family. While many of Delilah's closest friends are swept up in the excitement, Delilah can't shake the feeling that something isn't right πŸ€”.

As reports of skin reactions begin surfacing and unsettling secrets emerge, Delilah finds herself doing something she's avoided her whole life... asking questions. With help from her wise retired neighbor Mrs. Chopra and Jasper, her longtime pen pal and childhood crush πŸ˜πŸ“¬, Delilah starts digging into Peach Pit's business practices and uncovers much more than she expected.

What I liked πŸ’• was watching Delilah find her voice. Her growth throughout the story was inspiring and relatable, especially for anyone who's ever struggled to stand up for themselves. I also loved the strong female friendships, the small-town Southern charm, and the subtle romance with Jasper πŸ₯°. And as someone who isn't exactly a fan of MLM-style companies, I found the Peach Pit storyline especially satisfying πŸ‘πŸ‘.

Overall, this is a warm, uplifting story about courage, friendship, and learning that sometimes keeping the peace isn't worth the cost πŸ“šβœ¨. Filled with lovable characters, Southern charm, humor, and heart, Pretty as a Peach is a delightful read that left me smiling long after I finished πŸ‘πŸ’–πŸŒΈ.

Funny, clever, heartfelt, and surprisingly moving, Pretty as a Peach is much more than a story about exposing a scam, it's a story about belonging, breaking free from expectations, and discovering that your differences may be your greatest strength. I finished this book with a smile on my face and so much love for its characters.
