Peck & Peck was such an interesting and unexpected read. I loved the quirky world of the poetry journal and the strange collection of personalities surrounding it. Bonnie Garmus has such a distinctive sense of humor, and there were plenty of moments that made me laugh while still giving the story some heart. I especially enjoyed the themes around ambition, identity, and finding your own place in the world. If you loved the wit and personality of Lessons in Chemistry, this is definitely worth picking up.

This was so good! I think it's hard for a sophomore novel to be as good as the first, but Garmus did it.

Batter was unlike any other protagonist that I can recall. Not overly likable at times, but definitely himself. I loved his relationship with his parents. His mother was so adorably quirky.

There was almost a magical element to this book around the secrecy of Peck & Peck and its editors. The descriptions of the building and the aviary were incredible. The fact that it was set in the early 1980s also made it interesting- no cell phones and more privacy due to a lack of social media.

I devoured this book and would have enjoyed more.

Bonnie Garmus strokes again. I really enjoyed this book. So many details, so much depth. I never knew where it was going. Every time I thought I understood, the plot took an unexpected turn. Right until the end. I do have a soft spot for her debut “lessons in chemistry” so I don’t know if I loved peck & peck as much but I definitely did!

Don't be afraid of a bit of a slow start,
Hang on for a bit, because Peck & Peck becomes a work of art.
Read this if you enjoy great characters and smart dialogue full of wit,
The poetry world will come so alive, you'll feel like you're living in it.
You'll quickly see the Peck & Peck office is a crazy, ruthless place,
With a boss who would actually slap you right in the face.
The main character, Batter, is named after a heroic dog,
His beginnings are humble; his life - sometimes a bit of a slog.
Batter's mother is a typeset designer; an artist of text,
His father: a historian who uses the past to teach what might happen next.
I would call this book an ode to words and the power they yield,
But also to the heart, and what it needs to use as a shield.

Finally, I know, Peck & Peck would reject this poem so fast,
I would receive an emphatic "NO" in the post, but hey, it was a blast.

Bonnie Garmus has done it again!

I absolutely loved getting lost in this story. There is SO much detail and depth woven throughout, and just when I thought I had everything figured out, the plot would take another unexpected turn. I loved every twist and turn.

That said, I’ll always have a soft spot for her debut, *Lessons in Chemistry*, so I’m not sure anything will ever top that one for me. But *Peck & Peck* definitely delivered a story I thoroughly enjoyed.
