Description
She only meant to drop off a letter. She found a family instead.
Gabby Donaldson's late mother left her with one final task: deliver a letter to her estranged mother. Once Gabby fulfills her mom's deathbed promise, she'll leave behind the grandmother she never knew and return to her carefully constructed life in the city. With a fulfilling career as a jewelry designer, she's convinced she doesn't need roots to feel whole.
But locating Rosemary proves more complicated than expected. And when journalist--and single dad--Mason Morrison offers help in exchange for telling her story, Gabby agrees. The arrangement seems simple enough: he gets the human-interest piece that could be his big break, and she gets to fulfill her mother's final wish.
What neither anticipates is how quickly professional boundaries blur. As Gabby is drawn into Mason's world--and the life he's built with his precocious twelve-year-old daughter--Gibson begins to feel less like a stopover and more like home.
Yet the past has a way of complicating the present. If Gabby uncovers the truth about her family, will it free her to move forward--or make leaving impossible? And when the story is finally written, will she return to the life she planned . . . or risk falling into one she never saw coming?

A mysterious letter, a lost grandmother, and a search for healing set the background to the novel "Falling Into Us". The story follows Gabby’s journey after her mom’s death. When Gabby brings her late mother’s letter to the grandmother she believed was dead, she meets Mason, an Airbnb host whose becomes involved in the search.
Denise Hunter creates characters who written like real people. The story’s depth is one of its best qualities. Tough topics are dealt with sensitivity, giving readers like myself, a sense of hope. It reminds us that even after heartbreaking circumstances, healing is possible.
I receive complimentary books from various sources, including NetGalley, authors, and others. I am not required to write a positive review, and I have not received any compensation for my thoughts.

Falling into Us is a sweet clean romance novel by Denise Hunter.
Gabby's mothers dying wish was for Gabby to deliver a letter to her estranged mother. Gabby had never met her grandmother, Rosemary, and was very resentful of how her mother was treated when she found herself pregnant.
Widower Mason Morrison is a reporter. And a landlord. Gabby rents his cabin for two days to locate her grandmother in North Carolina. Things don't go exactly as planned. Mason wants to help Gabby find her grandmother. A trail that ends up taking weeks. And in that time, a sweet romance starts to bloom.
This book a heartfelt and emotional story. The characters felt so real. Gabby's issues with trust. Mason's guilty feelings over the death of his wife. Peyton, Mason's daughter, is such a sweet addition. The Morrison family welcomed Gabby into the fold, even though they did not really know her. Grandmother Rosemary's cheerfulness in her surrounding. This is definitely a book you will enjoy.
Family, compassion, forgiveness and a romance round out this clean story. As always Denise Hunter is a master at writing well rounded characters. Her stories never disappoint.

What a great, far fetched story that’ll keep you reading! The characters were well developed and very likable. I loved Mason’s family dynamics. I highly recommend falling Into Us by Denise Hunter. I also recommend all of her books!
I really enjoyed this book! My husband and I got his parents diagnosed with dementia in February 2025.I wanted to move them to a nursing home because they’d both had multiple falls. My father in law suffered a stroke in April 2024.My mother in law was hospitalized in Indianapolis multiple times after her falls because they resulted in brain bleeds. My in laws wouldn’t move to a nursing home and my mother in law fell again in July 2025.She suffered another brain bleed and it ended up killing her.My husband and I saw a lawyer a few weeks ago about getting guardianship over my father in law.I’m sure he probably won’t want that anymore than he wanted to go to a nursing home. This book talked about a lot of things my husband and I are dealing with in real life!!

It was nice to read a book without a terrorist or a kidnapper just around the corner.
The relationship between the main two characters started a little rocky but it evolved.
The scene with the spider was hilarious. Nice book about a great family.
Will definitely recommend.
Thank you Net Galley for the arc of this book.

Will Gabby and Mason be able to overcome their past hurts? Y'all just have to read this beautiful story to find out!
I loved their journey of self discovery and finding out what happens next. Sometimes family is where God puts us and where we are intended to be. He has a plan for each of us. Sometimes we may not always like it but its the best .

I loved this story about Gabby Donaldson is going to Gibson North Carolina to look for her grandmother. Her Mom who has passed away gave Gabby a letter to her mother who had told her to leave when she got pregnant and was going to marry the father. They did not speak all that time. To deliver on her death bed. She arrived late at night and managed to loose the key and had to call the owner Mason who brought the key. He knew she had come to find her grandmother. Mason had access to file that may help her. He started helping her and the newspaper asked if he might write a human interest story on it. Follow Gabby and Mason as they search for her grandmother as it it takes a while.and see what they find and the decisions Gabby has to make. To say too much would spoil the story. THIS IS A GREAT READ,

On the opening pages of Falling Into Us, author Denise Hunter, introduces Gabrielle Donaldson. Gaby is traveling from her home in to North Carolina looking to meet her grandmother and deliver a letter from her mother. Gaby’s mother had been estranged from her grandmother ever since she left home as a pregnant nineteen-year-old. Gaby has no idea what she will find; however, she wants to keep the promise she made to her late mother!
Gaby meets Mason Morrison shortly after her arrival. She loses the key to the Airbnb where she is staying and that he owns. Mason is not exactly sure what he thinks of this woman. Gaby soon discovers that her grandmother is no longer living at the address that she has. In an effort to track down her grandmother’s current location, Gaby makes a deal with Mason. He is a journalist and can use Gaby’s story in exchange for helping her locate her missing grandmother!
As the investigation concerning her grandmother continues, you wonder what the final outcome will be. What will grow from the attraction you see between Mason and Gaby? And more importantly, will Gaby ever find her grandmother?
You will not believe the connection between Mason and Gaby that comes to light by the final pages of this tale!

I loved this read! I knew from the very start it was a good one and had my attention. The characters are great and really draw you in to their lives.
Our main character, Gabby, is on a quest to find an unknown until now grandmother. So she travels to North Carolina to do her search. I have to say, the descriptions of the fall, hills, mountains are wonderful. I could really see it. As she settles in, she meets her landlord, Mason. It's a funny meet, I'll leave it at that. He is very likeable also as his family that we meet further in.
There's mystery to this story along with lots of feelings. All justified and relatable. One of my very favorite stories involved "see me" but I won't spoil.
An easy, lovely read that lifts you and brings lots of feeling.
Highly recommend.
My thanks to Thomas Nelson Fiction and Netgalley for allowing me to read in exchange for a fair review. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is yet another can’t-put-down sweet romance by Denice Hunter! My favorite part was how Gabby and Mason met—it was a laugh-out-loud scene! I loved the premise of the story: Gabby has to deliver a final letter to her grandmother but has no idea where the woman lives. That starts a sweet partnership between the hero and heroine. Gabby then becomes intertwined with Mason and his life, including his preteen daughter, who needs someone exactly like Gabby. And Mason’s family—I want to have dinner with them! They are so loving and caring, and they seem like so much fun! This was an amazing read, pick up your copy today!

" Maybe the heart remembers what the mind doesn't."
Words cannot express how deeply this book touched my heart, how precious this book truly was to me. This book hit a sore spot in my heart, as my grandmother of 88 years died recently from Alzheimer's Disease. She was absolutely precious but most importantly she made sure we kids knew how important a true relationship with Jesus was! She never forgot Jesus!
I adores Rosemary and the relationship she had with our FMC. She was absolutely precious. I also loved the fact that she was a army Nurse! I love learning about our military.
Denise never fails at adding just the right amount of faith Content and once again she nailed it! I adored the relationship our MMC continued to have with her mother, I cannot imagine what it's like losing a mother. Especially at such a young age.
The romance was so beautifully done. I adored how both our MMC and FMC became aware that they loved one another! I just love love! It is so beautiful when it is done right! The make out scenes were also perfectly done with no spice.
Most of All I loved the healing! The healing in this book was so beautiful and I cried my eyes out! The character growth was so good. I loved how our FMC finally realized that she was perfect the way she was. She didn't have to change for anyone!
I also loved how our MMC figured out that he is not to blame for his wife's death and that mistakes happen. I love how they healed one another.
This is definitely a book I would buy just to read again and again! Well done Denise hunter 👏 well done!!

Gosh I loved this book. I haven’t cried that much over a book in a while. A book that focuses on loss and grief, overcoming trauma. Mason and Gabby are the perfect example of a couple that compliments and encourages one another. And the invisible string that connected their families at the end? Really highlights that EVERYTHING is a part of God’s divine plan! It also has the perfect cozy fall vibe!

The book reads like a warm hug, and keeps giving throughout the read! The author does a beautiful job with weaving this tale, and how it is all woven together is wonderful!
Finding love, not just romantic, a young girl whom has lost her Mom, a young women whom has also lost her mother, a man whom has lost his wife. Then a man whom was airlifted out of Vietnam, closure, but how it comes to be is wow!
When some of the conclusions start to happen, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough, will they be what you hoped?
I loved the epilogue, and now wish I could continue on in this story!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Thomas Nelson, and was not required to give a positive review.

Denise Hunter is one of my favorite authors so I've read most, if not all, of her books. But Falling Into Us is one of my new Denise Hunter favorites!
Gabby rents a cabin from Mason so she can have time to complete a deathbed wish from her mom. The mission takes longer than expected, which gives Gabby and Mason more time to get to know each other. Both have things in their past that hold them back, but finding Gabby's grandmother brings them together in more ways than one.
I love how Denise Hunter weaves past hurts in with romance. While the main storyline was predictable within the first couple chapters, there were enough twists and turns along the way to hold my attention.

Gabby, Mason, and Peyton feel like friends. What a beautiful redemption story full of hope and new beginnings. One hundred percent recommend.
Another 5star read from Denise Hunter. I was excited to receive the ARC for her latest novel, Falling Into Us. It follows Gabby who is looking for her long lost grandmother. To her surprise, her mother on her deathbed revealed that her grandmother disowned her after getting pregnant at 19. Gabby has a lot of emotions to tackle - from her mom lying to her for her whole life, to honouring her request from her mom to deliver a letter to the grandmother. While in Gibson, where the grandmother last lived, Gabby finds comfort with her Airbnb host (and journalist), Mason.
The novel is filled with emotional trauma and finding family. Romance was sweet and the characters finely developed. A perfect romance read from the fabulous Denise Hunter. Releases October 2026.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
In Falling Into Us, Denise Hunter delivers another deeply moving story filled with emotional honesty, small town charm, and characters who feel wonderfully real.
To honor her late mother’s final wish, Gabby Donaldson travels to her mother’s hometown to deliver a letter to Rosemary—the estranged grandmother she has never met. What she expects to be a quick trip becomes far more complicated when locating Rosemary proves difficult. Though Gabby intends to return to her structured life as a jewelry designer, she soon finds herself unexpectedly drawn to the warmth of the community and the sense of belonging she’s never quite known.
Mason Morrison, a single father and local journalist, offers to help Gabby in her search in exchange for permission to share her story in the town paper—provided her identity remains anonymous. As they work together, Gabby witnesses the tender, everyday challenges Mason faces raising his spirited twelve-year-old daughter, as well as the quiet burden of guilt he carries from the tragic loss of his wife.
I was quickly swept up in Gabby’s quest to fulfill her mother’s last wish and in the beautiful, messy, heartfelt lives of the Morrison family. Hunter writes with such sincerity that the emotional journeys of both Gabby and Mason feel intimate and deeply earned. Her stories always seem to come straight from the heart, and this one is no exception.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All comments and opinions are my own.
