Compassionate and perceptively written, Ms. Hayward tells us the story of Susie, a recently widow. The loss of her husband of many years has engendered many changes in Susie's life, and the cast of characters in her life at this time is well explored and gently described. The seemingly random appearance of delicate little white feathers in her home help her to get through this difficult period. Recommended.

Sam Hayward has made a great start in her writing career with Black to White. There are occasional periods of awkwardness and some transitions could be smoother, but her tale has depth and her characters are empathetic. I look forward to her future works.

This is a book about grieving. Susie is trying to get back on her feet after the death of her husband when she meets Peter and hires him to help work in her garden. She keeps finding white feathers all over the house , car and other places. Is this her guardian angel trying to send her a message? Although the writing is sometimes a little awkward I found this book to inspiring and comforting. Having experienced grief first hand it is obvious the author knows of what she writes. The wave of emotions that suddenly hit you and trying to move forward. I really like the idea of this story.
