This book is so difficult for me to rate and I'm not entirely sure why.
It's not often the decision is made to make one big book as opposed to a duology or a trilogy these days. While I'm glad I don't have to wait years for the sequel it did make it a bit hard to get through for me and my attentionspan.
That may also be because of the way it's written. It's quite lore-heavy and there's a lot of "big words" in this one. That doesn't mean it's not a great book but it's not an easy holiday read.
The characters are all very special to me. I love Nova so so so much. It's also unusual that violence is met with kindness instead. This is my biggest concern with most fantasy books, especially those focussed on found family. I hope we can promote kindness and love more in the future, and the way this book did this is absolutely beautiful. I think Nova won't leave me for the years to come.

I'm a fan of fantasy, though not so much of romance, but the character writing in this story is so profound and impactful. Nova really has a way of bringing out the best in Ben, and watching their relationship develop feels completely natural and compelling. The world-building is okay, nothing special, but there is so much genuine emotion and depth to these characters that I can't stop rereading it. Cannot recommend it enough!

Aspects and qualities of some characters resemble greatly to some of my favorite characters in other works of fiction. For example, Lord Vindicate mirrors aspects of other fallen angel characters, such as Anakin Skywalker. Overall enjoyed reading through both its story and varying characters.
