Description
From USA Today, BookTok, and #1 Amazon bestselling author Kandi Steiner comes an angsty and emotional stand-alone romance about first love, buried pain, and the one person you can never quite let go of.
How can you hate someone who still owns your heart?
Jasmine Olsen hasn’t been home in seven years for a very good reason. Some memories cut too deep, and sometimes running is the only way to survive. But when her best friend’s wedding brings her back to the small town she desperately tried to escape, she finally comes face to face with… him.
Tyler Wagner. The boy who broke her heart. The man she never quite forgot. And, unfortunately, her best friend’s brother. Charismatic, confident, and unyielding, Tyler is everything Jasmine can’t afford to want. And now, as the wedding fast approaches, he’s everywhere—testing boundaries they never defined, stirring feelings they both pretended were long buried.
With every stolen glance, his golden eyes lure her into their depths. Unable to escape his pull, the memory of them tightens like a rip current, dragging her under. And when he flashes her that smile, she loses her breath along with the last of her restraint.
She wants to hate him. She needs to hate him. But if he kisses her again, she’ll drown. And this time, she’ll take him down with her.

Make Me Hate You is an emotional powerhouse of a romance that showcases everything Kandi Steiner does best, heartbreak, longing, and unforgettable chemistry. The tension between the characters is palpable, and their emotional journey feels raw, authentic, and deeply moving. Equal parts heartbreaking and hopeful, it's a romance that leaves a lasting impression.

Can never go wrong reading anything written by Kandi! I love the title as well as the cover. I highly recommend this novel.

There’s just something about Kandi Steiner’s writing that works so well for me. Her books always play out like a movie in my head, and I become completely immersed in the story. I ended up finishing this in one sitting without even realizing it because I just couldn’t put it down.
This gave me the same feelings I had while reading *A Love Letter to Whiskey*. You can always count on Kandi Steiner to write an angsty romance that completely rips your heart to shreds before slowly putting it back together again. The "right person, wrong time" trope will always be one of my favourites because it somehow manages to emotionally destroy me every single time, and I eat it up without fail.
If you're looking for a romance that's emotional, angsty, and guaranteed to put your heart through the wringer, I can't recommend this one enough!

★★★★★ (5 stars)
Make Me Hate You is an unforgettable second-chance romance that completely stole my heart. Kandi Steiner has a gift for writing emotional love stories, and once again she reminded me why she’s one of my favorite romance authors.
What stayed with me most was the message about communication. So much pain can come from the things left unsaid, and this story beautifully shows how making assumptions instead of asking the difficult questions can change the course of our lives. It was emotional, heartfelt, and incredibly relatable.
The chemistry between the main characters is undeniable from the moment they reunite. Their conversations were some of my favorite scenes because every word carried years of love, longing, and unresolved feelings. I couldn’t help but root for them from beginning to end.
The pacing was excellent, and I never felt like the story slowed down. I kept turning the pages because I needed to know what would happen next.
I also have to mention this gorgeous new cover. It immediately caught my attention, and after finishing the book, I honestly feel it captures the emotion and longing at the heart of the story perfectly.
If you enjoy second-chance romances filled with emotion, longing, and unforgettable chemistry, I highly recommend Make Me Hate You. This was another fantastic read from Kandi Steiner, and I already can’t wait to read whatever she writes next.
Thank you to NetGalley and Keeperton for the opportunity to read this novel ahead of it's re-release in October! Kandi Steiner is quickly becoming one of my favorite romance authors. After reading "A Love Letter to Whiskey" and "Love Overboard", I was excited to read "Make Me Hate You." Like the others, this book is full of all the angsty heartbreak and soulmate pull that her books are well known for. As a New Englander, I appreciated the setting of this book, which was done perfectly (not always the case in New England-themed novels!). While at times I felt the book was slightly predictable, not all my predictions came true and I appreciated the little twists and turns in Jasmine and Tyler's story. I felt the emotions in my chest as I read this novel, and couldn't put it down. A quick, fun, and angsty New England romance novel - an easy 5 star read!
I don’t always love a second chance romance, but Make Me Hate You completely won me over.
I switched between the audiobook and the physical book because I was so hooked. The narration was brilliant and really kept the story moving. It added so much emotion to Jasmine and Tyler’s story, and I found myself reaching for my headphones whenever I could.
Jasmine and Tyler grew up together, but years later they’re reunited for his sister’s wedding… who also happens to be Jasmine’s best friend. The tension between them is there from the very first page. You can feel the history, the hurt and just how much they’ve both changed over the years.
What really worked for me was how believable they felt. They make mistakes and find themselves in some really complicated situations, but they deal with them like real people. They actually communicate, take accountability and try to handle things with kindness, even when it’s hard. It made all the emotion hit so much harder because nothing felt manufactured for the sake of drama.
It’s a gorgeous slow burn with plenty of angst, plenty of steam, and so much heart. I was rooting for them the whole way through.
If you’re looking for an emotional romance with believable characters, fantastic chemistry and an audiobook that’s well worth picking up, I’d definitely recommend this one.
