Thanks to MSI Press for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I think this book was not really written "for me." I say that because almost every piece of advice is very much catered to men of a certain age and mindset. I didn't feel like the author was offering or interested in women's experiences. In fact, the comments about the female mindset on issues such as dating seem pretty... well, stereotypical. I appreciate that he tries to make the men that might be reading the book feel like they are not alone in agonizing over things like commitment, but it very much feels like the bottom line is "women... what can you do, am I right?!"
I also feel like, in general, the advice is very generic, and it feels like the cat is mostly incidental. I did enjoy the anecdotes about Shelly, though!
All that said, my perspective is very much not the target audience here. If you're a guy in your early 20s to mid 30s who needs some help getting your life on track and you aren't really interested in "self-help" books, this might be right up your alley.
