Description
As the ship dies, so do we.
Tyler Blythe is the youngest captain ever to be put in charge of a Doomship, juggernaut ark-ships whose power source extends lifespan but binds passengers to their unique radiation. A remnant of humanity wanders the stars aboard these doomships, sworn to make no war for religion and to colonize no planet.
But when the authoritarian government of this Armada destroys the food-ship Famine and leaves the fleet on the brink of starvation, Tyler is charged with retrieving the scattered survivors of the Famine faction, including his former mentor, Nassir Redhook.
But under the watchful gaze of political overseers and occupying marines, Tyler discovers that Nassir harbors a secret that could end their nomadic way of life forever. Now Tyler must choose between the power given to him by the Armada and the dangerous ideals of his former mentor–and in the bargain, decide the fate of an alien planet whose inhabitants are utterly unprepared for the violence this savage splinter of humanity carries with them.
Perfect for fans of James S.A. Corey and Emily Tesh, Finding Famine is a sweeping tale of regime and rebellion that asks what humanity is willing to do to survive.

One of the best science fiction books of the year, Finding Famine signals the coming of the next great sci-fi series. An unbelievable achievement for a debut novel, the world building, characterization, and just the writing in general are simply outstanding. The author deftly paints a picture of characters and settings that are at once alien but also rooted in the familiar. The pacing of the story and the manner in which it reveals the backstory of the saga show the touch of a truly gifted writer. I cannot say enough good things about this novel. Highly recommended.
