Wow!
Non-stop action, some very nasty villains and even nastier ways of killing. And some very satisfying come-uppances delivered.
Thank you Andy Maslen

Another great Gabriel Wolfe book. This time his sister, Tara, has been kidnapped. The man behind it doesn't want ransom, even tho he tells Gabriel he does. What he wants is to make Tara suffer for what she did to him years ago even tho he deserved much worse. And when Tara and Gabriel are thru with the man behind the kidnapping, he will wish for a swift death...but he won't get it.

I really enjoy Andys books and his Gabriel Wolfe series is my favorite. The character's are so good and the action is non stop. Bringing his hero's together in one book must take some planning with timelines in his other stories but it works well.
Working to save his sister makes a great story and you have to feel for the bad guys. If you haven't yet read any Andy Maslen books then you are in for a treat. Find the series and read from the first.

Great thriller that follows the story of Gabriel and his sister Tara. Lots of action with an exciting storyline and great characters that continues on from previous books.
I would definitely recommend this book as part of the series or even as a standalone novel.
I love all of Andy Maslan’s books and always waiting for the next one.

As usual Andy Maslen has written another stonking good page turner. Though possibly a little too grim for anyone with a sensitive nature it powers through dangerous situation after dangerous situation with Gabriel Wolfe and his sister Tara working along side each other. They make a good team and interesting she's the one I'd be most afraid to get on the wrong side of. I've also bought my own copy, so I'll be placing a verified purchaser review on Amazon when the book releases. Thoroughly recommended.

Andy Maslen is always a safe pair of hands.
You know you are about to enter a trill ride as soon as you start the first chapter and this one joins that list.
I must admit that I wondered if I'd missed an earlier novel as I didn't even know that Gabriel had a sister but this also really works as a stand alone whilst developing a clever and rather endearing relationship between the tweo siblings.
Full of action and (justifiable) gore, it pulls no punches whilst you'll also find yourself short of breath by the end of some chapters.
Great characters, superb plot, very satisfying ending.
Many thanks.

The best of Gabriel and Tara yet. The characters come to life in this fast paced thriller of a read. Getting to know the characters over the years is what makes the book unstoppable and can't put down when you pick it up.

Wolf Lake
This is the latest book in the Gabriel Wolfe series and combines the story with his sister Tara. Tara, a former Triad leader is leading an ‘under the radar’ life in Paris when her past catches up with her and she is kidnapped. Gabriel starts a frantic search for her and with the help of friends is able to follow her trail.
It’s a compulsive page turning book, and there is drama and suspense on every page. Another brilliant book from Andy Maslen.

Another banger from Andy Maslen. This time, Gabriel and Tara are forced to act and they do so with lethal intent. It's a timely storyline, though the extra-judicial aspect might cause some to clutch their pearls. It also sets up the next novel(s) very nicely by identifying a class of criminal who need to receive justice in one form or another. This one will keep you reading until the end, and then you'll be ready for the next act.

Wolf Lake is the seventeenth book in the Gabriel Wolfe series by Andy Maslen. Although I am a long time admirer of this author and his Detective Kat Ballantyne series, this is my first read of a Gabriel Wolfe novel. Gabriel Wolfe is a former SAS soldier who used to kill for the government. These days, he’s trying to leave that life behind, but peace never seems to last long. When his sister, Tara, is kidnapped, Gabriel is plunged right back into the danger zone.

Tara has been living quietly in Paris, attempting to put her own dark history behind her—specifically, the years she spent running one of Hong Kong’s most ruthless triads. But in their line of work, the past always comes calling eventually. With only days to locate her, Gabriel is forced back into a world of ruthless violence, betrayal, and unpaid debts. Outnumbered and heavily outgunned, he has no choice but to team up with the one woman he swore he’d never trust again. The trail leads directly to Wolf Lake—and whoever took Tara is about to learn the hard way that they picked the wrong family to mess with.

This is a proper high-octane, action-packed thriller that hits the ground running and rarely lets up! The countdown element gives the storyline a brilliant sense of urgency, keeping you on the edge of your seat as Gabriel races against the clock. Andy Maslen has crafted some really interesting, complex characters here. Gabriel is a fantastic lead—tough and capable, but driven by a fierce loyalty to his sister. The addition of Tara’s intriguing backstory and the shaky alliance Gabriel has to form with a woman from his past adds brilliant tension to the narrative. The plot is packed full of suspense. The setting of Wolf Lake makes for a tense backdrop, and watching an outnumbered Gabriel use his old SAS instincts to take on seemingly impossible odds makes for a hugely satisfying read.

Wolf Lake is a very good action-packed thriller that delivers exactly what you want from the genre, relentless tension, great characters, and a plot that keeps you hooked from start to finish. A solid four-star read and a thoroughly enjoyable ride!

I would like to thank both Netgalley and BeRead for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I've not read a Gabriel Wolfe book for a while but thanks to Netgalley and the publishers I'm glad they let me read this. An all action thriller that I couldn't put down. The story never lets up and the characters are well drawn and I'd definitely want Gabriel and Tara on my side.

Wolf Lake by Andy Maslen is the next book in the Gabriel Wolfe series and in this storyline we see Gabriel and Tara working together at what they do best.
The brother and sister are living together in Paris leading quiet lives, when Tara is kidnapped one morning. Gabriel has to find her before the week is up, because he suspects that even when he paid the ransom Tara would be killed.
The brother and sister then managed to stop some women being trafficked, return the water back to the community by destroying the Country Club that had been using it and then give their own brand of justice to the man who had ordered Tara’s kidnap and was in charge of human trafficking and other criminal activities.
It was a really good read, full of action, suspense and the hint of a new job and a new love interest. So I will look forward to the next book to see what happens to Gabriel and Tara Wolfe.
Highly recommended

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this advance copy.

I’m a huge Andy Maslen fan, but Wolf Lake was actually my first venture into the Tara Wolfe spin-off from the brilliant Gabriel Wolfe series. It certainly won’t be my last. In fact, I was so invested that halfway through I bought Purity Kills because I knew I wanted more of Tara’s story.

From the opening chapters, this had me completely hooked. The combination of meticulous research, authentic background detail and believable, well-developed characters made it impossible to put down. The plot is tightly constructed, with tension building steadily as Tara is kidnapped by a dangerous rival and forced to rely on every ounce of her intelligence, resilience and training to survive.

I loved the dynamic between Tara and Gabriel. While Tara fights to stay alive, Gabriel is racing against time to find her, never quite knowing who he can trust. Their relationship, along with the strong supporting cast, gives the story real emotional weight alongside the action.

The suspense never lets up, the twists felt earned, and the pacing kept me turning the pages long into the night. Whether you’re already a fan of Gabriel Wolfe or, like me, are just discovering Tara Wolfe, this is an outstanding thriller that stands comfortably on its own while making you want to read the rest of the series.

An easy five stars from me. I can’t wait for the next one.

I’ve been an avid follower of Andy since forever and have previously beta read for him, so any review is going to be slightly preferential , I guess.

Even having made that disclaimer though, this book is fantastic. Well written action, some slightly too graphic to read when you eat, but realistic and believable. A story line that runs smoothly and concentrates on the characters as much as the action, without seeming to be too much of one over the other.

Pretty faultless to be honest.

If I have one gripe, it’s that I get dragged in from the first chapter and don’t put it down until the last, so a 4am finish is not unusual, even if it isn’t beneficial for work!

There are only a few authors I read that grab me like that - David Baldacci, Lynwood Barclay and Andy Maslen.

Read it and find out for yourself.

Gabriel Wolf is former SAS soldier, his sister Tara used to run a triad in Hong Kong, they are both trying to live a more peaceful life now in Paris, away from their prevous histories.

This all changes when Tara is kidnapped while Gabriel is out getting breakfast, is this just a ransom kidnapping or is there something else going on that will need to be uncovered

Gabriel, with only a week to find her, has to call on all of his skills, resources and also enter an alliance with the one person he said he would never trust again.

This is an action packed, edge of your seat book which doesn't stop with the thrills, highly recommended and look forward to the next one.
